- Vancouver police say fans were generally well behaved for the Canucks' first home playoff game in nearly nine years. But as Kate Walker reports, the VPD says it will be cracking down on public drinking as the playoffs continue.

Was there in 94 and in 2011 and it's very unlikely things will be any different celebration wise if the Canucks make it to the finals and win or lose for that matter. The generation that was too young to experience previous losses firsthand grows up hearing glamorized stories of playoff riots and thinks that's acceptable behavior. Not to mention the kids from Surrey and Delta that will come downtown with the sole purpose of causing trouble because they have no care or pride in actually being from Vancouver.
yeah lets blame surrey and delta. have you seen all the zombies in the dt east side? where do you think all the property crime criminals live? wheres all the tents. I rest my case also as someone who was raised and lived in vancouver its the entire metro van area that was involved in 2011.

@meowza there in 94/11 only refers to me being old enough to have watched those games, have or feel emotions due to the outcome, and remember what it was like. Not willingness to participate in terrible behavior. I didn't stand for riots when I was 14 or 31 years old and don't now. You seem to have no issue making excuses to justifying poor behavior.

Why not use BC Place for some watch parties? In 2011 in was under renos and couldn't be used
During the time of game 3, there was something going on at bc place, so with concerts and scheduled events happening there, it would be difficult to organize a watch party at the time of canucks games.

We were well behaved for the 15 wins in 2011 and 94 as well, it's missing the 16th that does us
The coach/team's mindset about not riding too high on a win, and not letting the losses get you too low need to be something the fans put into practice too. Get behind them, but they haven't achieved anything yet. Support them, let them cook, but don't assume they're owed a win because they believe in each other. Its still the playoffs and a lot can happen over the time it takes to get to the finals.
Relax, it was game 1 of the playoffs. Let's see how the city handles itself if they get to the finals and loose game 7.
