I believe the jakl line is actually long stroke, like an ak.
It is indeed long stroke
It is long stroke
It’s long stroke af, boi!
Yeahhhhhhh…I totally jacked that up. 🤦🏼♂️
Gotta own that one.
This is correct
Just remember PSA is about arming the people. They dont deal with gov contracts where they bend the knee to all of their rules. The cost savings are in our favor. But that trade off is some of the quality control. I own some PSA and they have always taken care of me when ever i have had any range issues. Theyre not going to be for try hards but it just does the job.
Thanks for watching
Yeah I have a PSA AR15 I spent 500 bucks on that has lasted 3000 rds before I had my first failure. It was the BCG, so just replaced it and that thing has just kept going. Put a cheap red dot on it and were talking 600 bucks for 4000 rounds now? Cant beat that.
Idk about that… Read their shipping restrictions. If you’re stuck behind enemy lines they won’t ship stuff that’s still perfectly legal in states with certain restrictions. You can’t get an upper or lower in states like CA, CT, MA, or NY and they don’t have a complete “compliant” jakl on their site last I saw. Kind of a bummer for those folks because they can easily skirt the restrictions since the jakl uses an AR lower. You can get guns like that from most of the companies that had/have govt contracts…. Hk, fn, colt, sig, Glock, beretta etc.
@@xi-deadshot-ix5838it's not psa it's the state that restricts them they shouldn't have to abide by unconstitutional restrictions in the first place
@@fishkd2240 it is psa deciding. You obviously don’t know how it works or what the laws are. And I’m not saying they have to do anything. They sell other “compliant” models. All they have to do is throw a comp mag or a fin grip & pinned stock on it before they ship it. Other companies are buying them from psa and making them “compliant” then shipping them to those restricted states… I like psa and buy their stuff. But it’s asinine to say “they’re about arming the people” when they aren’t selling many models to people in states that make firearm ownership difficult when there’s an easy way to do it. It’s arguably more important to arm more people in restricted states rather than focusing solely on the already over saturated market composed of the “free states” if “arming the people” is their true goal. Personally I think it’s mostly just a sales pitch. But if they make cool stuff I’ll buy it. I’ll never be able to drop $13k on a knights m-110 sass but I can easily afford psa’s cheap copy.
The Jakl is like Jefe, it’s just its own unique thing and can be used for many scenarios
There is no truer statement
Hi mark I am glad you posted this video. I have been looking at getting one of these but haven’t seen one in person yet. I will definitely be watching for more of your videos on this rifle.
Glad to help!!! Thanks for watching!!!
Solid platform. I can definitely be refined. I love mine. The T Rex arms video is pretty good.
Thanks for watching
I'm definitely want one exactly like the one you have.
The stock looks comfortable & I do like the action.
Stock is very comfortable
May be comfortable but it's a flimsy flexing piece of shit. Maybe some people get a decent one but myself and many others in the FB group for this rifle think it's a joke. I wouldn't run it on an airsoft.
Ive had various ar rifles i never could get to run. But i really like the looks of this. I may have to try one.
If suppressors come out of the NFA this would be a big hit.
It seems like a true AR/AK hybreed with that long stroke gas system.
That’s if they fix the gas block issue
@@trentmckenzie343 Palmetto AR-10 has a very good adjustable gas block with 17 positions. If they use something similar for the Jackal it would solve a lot of problems.
thanks for your insights great upload. leaning more towards this than the standard ar platform
Right on…thanks for watching
For anyone whos bought PSA's brand new releases has usually had issues here and there... Once they get the kinks worked out they turn out quality guns. Bought an AKV upon release and had no issues but a buddy of mine had to send his back but the lifetime warranty you cant beat.
Same with most manufactures. Same with the original AR also.
great video brother
Thanks for watching
I might have to get the JAKL .308
I’ll be interested to see your review.
I've been enjoying the podcast. Good shit. When's the next one drop?
We will have one on the 15th and the a guest podcast on the 1st. Our aim is to drop an episode every 1st & 15th.
What gas block position did you find optimal while running your sandman?
I picked up a Jakl about 2 months ago. I zeroed the rifle, then went to town. I fired about 1000 rounds of ammo (55gr, 62gr, 77gr). I also used various magazines (PMAG, Lancer, HK, FN, USGI, Hexmag, MFT, and Troy). The gas was opened up all the way and the rifle was neither cleaned nor lubed. No malfunctions after I figured out the gas regulator. At the end of testing, I confirmed zero and had no shift. I got lucky and didn't get a PSA lemon. Not the most accurate rifle and a little heavy for what it is, I'm not disappointed in my purchase. I would not recommend this rifle to anyone who doesn't own a quality AR.
That’s fair…thanks for watching
The jakl ended up being the rifle I’ve ever built. Any reason why it shouldn’t have been my first?
@@popcornchicken5552 you can buy or build an AR that is lighter, more accurate, and more cost effective. ARs also have an extensive support channel. The JAKL did good in my testing but that is one rifle. Batch testing needs to be done before a track record can be established. This is the reason I would recommend first time buyers get an AR.
I need to get one of these
Doooooo it!
Definitely a great asset to have
Thanks for watching!
The JAKL sounds like a lot of fun, however being financially challenged at the moment, I have to enjoy vicariously through others. 🤪
But, Bidenomics!
Totally understandable
I just wish psa would bump up the QC and stop beta testing with consumers. I want one but I'm going to wait for the next gen probably
Yeah, for sure. Cuz no other manufacturers do that…ever. Lol.
I don’t think it’s “beta testing” as much as just manufacturing is hard. Manufacturing complex machines costs money and inspecting, re inspecting, and re-inspecting agaaaaain, even more money. I am guessing it’s just difficult to find the balance of QC that never misses, but still affordable machinery 🤔
I have a Jakl in my collection… also have a Primary Arms Lpvo nova with a Holosun on a 45* … Very happy with it… have ran about 2000 rounds through it with no malfunctions besides getting the gas settings set up… oh… it’s a long stroke set up like an AK
Yeah…totally messed up the short vs long stroke bit 🤦🏼♂️
Dude, is your jacket made out of a woobie?! Thant's awesome! Smart review Fit, thanks.
Yeah you can buy woobie hoodies around. I have one too that I got from Zero Foxtrot.
It's a long stroke. I have 3, 2 556 and one in 300. Amazingly simple and strong. Very pleasant recoil , like a gentle push. Zero recoil with a suppressor, no joke.
DAMN IT…you totally right and I mixed the two in my head 🙄🤦🏼♂️
Hey, please tell me about the 300 blk. Is it the same recoil impulse as the 556? How’s the handiness on that one?
@@caseysmith8831 honestly the 13.7 barreled 556 kicks the least. Second is the 300 8 inch barrel and 10 " 556 kicks the most. But you can tune most of the recoil out of all of them with the adjustable gas key . When I install my dead air can all of the recoil disappears . Not sure why but I love it. Hope this helps
What dead air can do you have on it? I am Jakl curious
Pretty ok gun with some quirks… got it. I was watching and looking at it thinking it would be super cool to have a HK style collapsible stock on it. I may see if I can get one to play with.
That would actually look really cool
I love my Jakl, i do plan on getting the 10 inch upper and SBR the thing. my only gripe i have with the system would be that it is front heavy due to being piston driven
Thanks for watching
Interesting point about reassembly. I wonder if that's why some pistons are hinged.
Possibly…thanks for watching
My only real complaint about these guns is that they use a government profile barrel and it makes them more front heavy vs using something with a more balanced taper or a pencil barrel to help offset the weight of the piston.
I get that and that’s valid. I don’t find it to be heavy but I also understand that different people have different preferences
I think most of the weight is coming from how thick the rail and upper are.
Easily resolve with another barrel, we need PSA to offer stripped JAKL uppers!
Are you filming on the set of Tarkov? 😮
You know it! 😏
Me need one!
Yes!!! I’d bet a 300BO would do well for you on Danger Mountain
Might be a dumb question so if it is I apologize, but I shoot the wrong way so would I be able to put the charging handle on the right side? Awesome vid btw!
You most certainly can switch the charging handle.
@@FitnFire Awesome man! Thanks for the reply🫶
Nice, how do you like the Pa 1-10 scope?
I really like it…has its limitations but a solid option.
Just broke the 18k round count on mine. Still going stong. Stock did break after a 30 plus foot fall because sling failed while rappelling.
did your barrel screws ever come loose im going to paint mark mine.
I don’t have any experience with the Jakl but I do like it and hope to own one. From reviews I’ve seen they all pretty much say that it’s front heavy. I’d like to get a 10.5” upper & SBR it. Run it suppressed with a red dot.
It is a little front heavy but tbh not so much that I notice.
The charging handle has to be in the fwd position to put the bolt carrier in
I have to apply a dose of Cooper to this. What is it for?
We have had the definitive short stroke piston AR for 60 years, it's called an AR18/180.
That was actually semi decent and coherent review 😅😅
LOLZ…thanks 🙌🏻
Trex Arms just did a 5,000 round video where they had a lot of malfunctions I guess they got a lemon? My point is they should’ve stopped the testing and contacted PSA to see what they’ve could’ve done to fix the issues that I’m sure came from the people assembling the uppers.
That was my thought also, as soon as they noticed the gas regulator not staying in the position it was put in they should have sent it in to be fixed. In my mind it did a disservice to the rifle to force it through 5000 rounds suppressed at the fully open gas setting, obviously having excess wear issues and overgassing malfunctions. Any non CZcams reviewer that purchases one would have fixed it before just running the crap out of it.
Good info guys! I will keep my eyes on that.
It still did a decent job, even with the issues.
And it's a video long data point for PSA QA/QC to look at.
They didn’t have any issues after 2500 rounds
Didn’t you watch the end of the video? They found the issues and corrected them and had over 2000 rounds without an issue.
Interesting for those who might want the SCAR look without the SCAR price.😎
Watching the ejection and gas adjustment, I wonder if 55gr .223 and M193 would function on the same setting, not to mention 62gr/M855.
I would imagine it would cycle but the ejection pattern would be closer to 1pm
@@FitnFire Thanks. 🙂
🏆.. I like your jacket. If you don’t mind can you tell me where did you get it from? Thanks!
WarmFzy and/or Americana Pipedream
@@FitnFire Thank you!
I’ve shot tons of piston weapons, putting it back into the receiver is always a pain. Usually there’s a trick to it, just gotta figure it out
Finagle it in 😏
There is. You flip the receiver so that the pic rail is downward on the 45° angle that you're holding the upper. Hope it helps.
I like mine it kinda fits the gap between ak and ar but it’s scar like
Agreed…thanks for watching
@@FitnFire np keep up the great vids
Oh Hi Mark👋🏻
👋🏻🤩
Idk anything about rifles and just want one around the house safely stored . Is this a good beginners gun?
It would be but might be a little pricey for that. I would suggest to get a good understanding of an AR-15 first IMHO
I prefer the solid metal stock that allows conventional furniture. The plastic one looks like a scar, and looks pretty cool, but just isn’t as good as it should be.
I really like my jakl The only problem I have with it is very front heavy but that's about it
Honestly, I haven’t noticed it being front heavy. I’m not saying that it isn’t but after having it out, it wasn’t a difference that’d make a difference…IMHO
@@FitnFire well I may have over exaggerated when I said "very"
@@notajaxon9476 that’s fair
Debating between this and the sabre
I would decide if parts compatibility is a concern. If it is…SABRE…if not, JAKL
I was about to get one but T Rex Arms did a video and the barrel was getting loose and showed how there was only 4 screws holding it together.
Would you prefer more than 4 screws?
Besides the AR only has two pins holding the upper to the lower 🙀
I think a better comparison would be to that m90 you got both are piston 556 guns and could be cool to see old school vs newer school
Good idea…I could do a separate video on that after the IWI Carmel
@@FitnFire I would definitely watch it!!!!
Just saw the T-Rex arms video on it, I wonder if you will find the same issues.
Only if the gas plug is messed up on this one also. T-Rex should have resolved that issue in my mind before running it suppressed for 5000 rounds.
Loose barrels. Bad gas block detents. Bolt geometry issues. Charging sleds. All general QC issues that happen on big name guns. The issues suck. But. They're making a volume, and variety of firearms few others can fathom, let alone compete with. It's gonna happen. Sadly.
Thanks for that rundown gents…I’ll keep yall updated on that.
Huxworks flow through technology reduces gas in the face and you will live longer
LOLZ…good point
Should I go with 13.7 or 14.5 inch barrel?
Depends on your application…that little of a difference won’t make too much of a difference as far as velocity is concerned. If you’re going to suppress it and use it for home defense, 13.7 IMHO
@@FitnFire I was leaning towards that anyways
Can you buy just a upper and put it on a lower that Is already owned ?
Yes, you just have to get the slimmer bolt catch and install it on your current lower.
The short answer is yes, BUT you’ll also need a buffer adapter to close off the upper.
Looks like a decent gun. Wouldn't mind having one but the price keeps me from purchasing one.
It's a long-stroke piston design, not short. JS
YeUP…messed that up
But does it take Glock mags?
It does! Thanks for pointing that out 😉
Only thing it needs to do is be reliable and combat accurate. Not enough info for reliability yet
That’s fair
why doesn't anybody mention that that top rail is not cut on the back or front of the gun removing some sight radius
95% of people are using some type of optic so the sight radius is a mute point.
The barrel tends to loosen up cuz its held on by tiny screws. Kind of scary.
I will keep my eye on that
T. rex arms gun had an issue and now they all tend to have this issue? 🤦🏼♂️
American gun owners either ignore or punish any tiny deviations from run of the mill and the gear queens fully invest their egos and identity into how much they spend per gun. DI ARs likely constitute 80% plus of the rifle market in the U.S. and AKs might hit 15% so the 5%ish that is leftover is PSA's customer pool for the jackals.
I feel like those numbers are made up 😉😏
@@FitnFire Talk to gunshop or pawn shop owners. Also I said "Likely" meaning those numbers are in the ballpark in my experience. If you ask shopowners how many ARs versus everything but AK I'm confident they will tell you 7-8 to 1.
I don't think it matters if it is or isn't better than an AR15. Being an quality alternative to an AR15 is all that matters. A 16 inch Jakl to augment a 20 inch precision AR15 to me makes all the sense in the world, especially if I can run the same can on both of them.
Thanks for watching
I may not be able to afford B&T and this may have to do.
The 5000 round review from T-REX on this rifle was a complete and utter embarrassment, it's sad because I wanted this rifle to perform well.
It's long stroke.
YeUP…jacked that up.
It's a long stroke piston
Yep
Sorry if I sounded like a jerk, it was just a thought in my head and typed it, lol.@@FitnFire
@@bigmike716I didn’t take it that way at all! It was a mistake that I’ve been called out on like 20 times on this video and I have to own it. Thank you for keeping me honest! 🙌🏻
We can always count on PSA having the worst QC. Its not a new PSA gun if it doesn't have endless threads detailing all their issues.
I've had my Chinese Polytech since I was 18 and I don't understand the Fads moving away from direct impingement to long stroke and short stroke operation. The long stroke or short stroke compared to DI won't be as accurate potentially, they will recoil more, and they will be more front heavy and less ergonomic. Better ergonomics means better performance over time. Why does anybody want more weight out front? Why does anybody want more weight period. This is the USA and we make AR15's, just get your good hot and dirty with a better caliber than 5.56. Imagine a 5.56 long stroke, its the worst of both worlds, lol.
Thanks for watching
👍
🤙🏻
Long strike gas piston
YeUP! Jacked that up 🤦🏼♂️
I really like this rifle but it's to heavy.
hit the gym
Agree
Really it isn’t THAT much heavier than a AR…like a fraction of a pound
It's a long stroke, system
Yep…I gotta own that mistake.
Pretty sure that's a long stroke piston system.
YeUP!!! Totally mixed it up in my head
It's a long stroke
I have a 300 blk jakyl 1 range session and it has already been sent back to PSA so far not impressed
Why was it sent back?
Not cycling properly
The JOKEL.... PSA needs better QC.....Stop churning out massive amounts of rifles just to rush it out the door just to make a profit. For what you are paying for this rifle you shouldn't be sending it back or having problems as soon as you take it out of the box...
To play devil’s advocate, that is systemic across the gun industry though.
Springfield SA-35 & Prodigy
IWI Carmel
Glock 44
Sig P320
Are just a few examples of firearms that were recently introduced and have had significant issues right out of the gate.
It’s a decent rifle but it doesn’t do anything better than my DI guns. So for now it’s a range toy that doesn’t get into the rotation a much as my Spear LT or DD.
The Spear LT and the JAKL are essentially the same rifle.
@@FitnFireHow do you come to this conclusion? The Spear LT is a short stroke piston (like an AR 180) and the JAKL is long stroke (like an AK). The Spear feels more like a DI AR because the reciprocating mass is less. It is also not nearly as front heavy as the JAKL (even with a full 16" barrel on my Spear and a 14.5 P&W on the JAKL).
@@mavrikmavrik3032 that is why I said essentially. The operating system is forward of the BCG opposed to a standard AR allowing for a buffer-less system. It’s like comparing a Tacoma 4x4 Sport with a 4x4 Off Road
It’s a long stroke gun not short stroke
YeUP!!! Mixed that up. I’ll own that
No mention of the stock being a flimsy piece of shit that doesn't even deserve a place on an airsoft rifle? I just got mine yesterday and I literally couldn't order a replacement fast enough. This also requires the 1913 rail adapter from PSA. But yeah this F5 stock is an embarrassment. Feels like I'm shouldering an accordion.
One thing right...relieves you of $1200
Brother. Shave the head. Its time.
Get a better fitting suit…it’s time
Garand Thumb, love him to death but had a bad gasblock plug for like an hour of his review. So cant really listen to that without knowing he didnt send a message about that till the end of the video. Once it was fixed his ran flawlessly. Mine has run flawlessly for about 1500 rounds now.
Oh hi, Mark.
@@FitnFire Hi diddly doh neighbor!
all these ideas are trying to be the ar15 without direct impingement
Valid
Ive had various ar rifles i never could get to run. But i really like the looks of this. I may have to try one.
You should definitely try it out! Thanks for watching
