    Thank you for making this video. I needed the physical location of the processor since I wanted to attach a magnetic thermoelectric cooler to the back of the tab and none of the teardown videos on youtube seemed to disclose anything about the processor's location. Great video!!

    I love how easy the screen is to remove, but God knows how expensive that screen will be. The problem with these tablets is if the screen breaks, they usually cost more to fix than buying a used one on eBay 😭

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 2 lety +10

      It's not as easy as it seems from the video, since I do a lot of the heating and prying off camera to save video time and fast forwarding for people :). It requires time and patience if your screen is working and not broken, but if its cracked or broken already, you can pry it off without having to be careful etc.

      @@PBKreviews Oh for sure, I should have been more specific. I meant I love that the screen is right there, easy to replace. Instead of having to remove a motherboard, battery, and 25 screws.

      the screens for the s8 are around 60-80$ if you can get wholesale prices. but even wholesale pricing on ANY + or Ultra models is 3-600$. That's wholesale price. Those Super AMOLED's 🤣 Main reason i bought a tab s8 with a cracked screen for $250. easy replacement and cheap. But i wouldn't even THINK of getting a cracked s8 ultra lmao

    Was there adhesive *all* the way around the screen? It's hard to see in the video if there were gaps or if the adhesive was rubbed off in some places from the removal process. Mainly wondering what the risk of water ingress is through the gap between the edge of the screen and the aluminum body if I touch the tablet with wet hands. Also, were there any gaskets or any amount of resistance to ingress around the power/volume buttons? Have you disassembled a Tab S7, and if so, was the internal design (particularly the elements I mentioned here) similar?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 2 lety +1

      There was adhesive all the way around, and there were no rubber gaskets around with connectors or the sim tray or anywhere else that I could see. I havent taken apart a tab s7.

    • @joon0
      @joon0 Před 2 lety

      @PBKreviews Assuming the designs of the S7/S7+/S8+/S8 Ultra are similar, it sounds like I've been correctly handling my devices then. If my hands are wet, I only touch the screen, never the buttons, ports, SIM tray, or pogo pin contacts. Thanks for confirming my suspicions!
      I wish Samsung would make a proper water-resistant tablet (besides the lower‐spec Tab Active line). The last real contender was the Xperia tablet from years ago.

    It's shame that Samsung didn't apply a batter cooling solution to the Tab S8. The Tab S8 will hit 90 ℃ Core Temperature in the first 10 seconds and thermal throttling to 70% of its maximum performance for the rest of the test. All Previous TabS7 and S6 didn't have this issue and were able to stay at 95%+ stability during the 3DMark Extreme stress test.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 2 lety

      I am not 100% sure but if I remember correctly, you can heat up the digitizer glass and pry it off the screen itself. But you would need to disconnect the digitizer flex cable from the back of the screen as well. You would not be able to just replace the glass since it would require special tools and machines which are using in the factory to get it done correctly and aligned etc.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 9 měsíci +1

      because graphene is a single layer of graphite used as a film, where as you would refer to multiple layers forming somewhat of a solid or 3D layer as graphite or 3D graphite. some electronics use a thicker film which basically has multiple layers of graphite which I don't know if this is an accurate representation but is more like folding clay vs paper. Nope haven't done that one, and as of yet I'm not sure if I will be doing that one or not.

    You should turn this teardown videos into ASMR. Without you speaking, just some auxiliary text and the volume of the disconnecting pins and screws turned up to 11

    Not helpful. No one ever seems to go all the way down to the digitizer.

      In most cases, prying a working assembly apart would cause damage and render the screen useless or crack the digitizer etc. All that is left in most cases when the digitizer is removable, is to heat it up and gently pry it off the screen. But in most phones for example, the screen and touch digitizer glass are fused together so they are not user replaceable. However on tablets it may be a different story. I didn't personally try to pry it off to see if the digitizer is replaceable by itself, but I believe it would be.

    in the end, the tabled is garbage because you can t use a sim for internet and use it for GPS like Uber

      yep, you would basically need a hot spot for it to connect to via wifi.

    Never disconect the screen without disconecting the battery first like he failed to do in the video

      Depending on how much interest there is for this video, I may consider doing the ultra as well.
