    What a beautiful and inspirational vlog of simple life on the homestead! And also so educational!! 😃 My cast iron skillets could use a bit of love, so I’ll have to follow your process to season them. I admit I just get busy cooking with them and don’t always dry them well after washing or refresh them as often as I should. I’m SO glad you decided to start vlogging and sharing about your days and skills on the homestead!! Your channel is going to be one of my absolute favorites. I already know! 😉 Blessings!!

    I simply love your videos. My heart pines for the rural homestead life, but I just can’t convince my wife. Your music, camera angles and everything thing else you’re doing is so beautifully composed. Thank you for giving me such joy and hope in a dream I pray will eventually come to pass - Lord willing. God bless you

    I truly loved everything about this video, the opening with the shots of snow, the colour grading, the use of the cast iron, your lovely glass teapot and your wood burning hearth/heater?
    This video made me feel like I was on a holiday, funnily enough!
    Can't wait for more videos like this!

    It was such a sweet and simple joy to watch this video. Your little homestead seems so precious and like one I’d love to have myself one day! You’ve certainly inspired me to re-season my own cast iron... I use mine practically daily and it is long overdue for a tune up! For some reason I always feel daunted by the task, but you’ve made it seem almost restful. :)

      Thank you for watching!! And seasoning is not nearly as intimidating as it seems. I'm always so surprised how much easier it is to cook on the cast iron after its been seasoned.

    A beautiful young lady living a beautiful life, what's not to like about this? Love it! I may read that book about fat not making you fat. I have learned that this past year myself and need to understand the concept better.

      Its hard when it has been engrained in our brains from childhood that fat is bad. But if we are going to eat the way God intended fat is a big part of the menu!

    I use our cast iron when I have time to heat it, but mostly use our carbon steel fry pan for fast breakfast. It seasons like cast iron and is beautifully non-stick!

    Your video was so comforting to my soul. I loved your videography. Your video reminded me to season my cast iron which I have been procrastinating for some time. But the delicious food that you made makes me want to cook something there ! You have a beautiful home :) I also have been leaning towards slow living since a year and it has been so transformational for me to be in the present moment and start to notice the simple pleasures of life. It gave more meaning and joy to my life and inspired me to create a channel spreading the same, I would love for you to check it out :) Even otherwise, you found a subscriber in me and would be looking forward to your videos in future !

    Bought a 10 inch skillet 2 years ago and it's still in the bubble wrap. Husband gave me the reversible griddle/grill pan I was hinting at 2 Christmases ago. It, too, is still unused. I have this fear that cast iron will crack my cooktop.

  • @amyhenderson
    @amyhenderson Před 3 lety +1

    How often do you reseason your cast iron pans? I have one egg pan that sticks, but it was seasoned at the same time as the rest (a year ago?). By the way, I think I have to have that teapot. I shared this video with my mom to drop the hint 😉

    • @heartofthehomestead
      @heartofthehomestead  Před 3 lety +2

      I honestly don't know what the recommended time is... I just do it as needed. I think if you take good care of your pan ( dry it all the way and coat it in oil after each use) you ideally shouldn't have to re-season at all.
