    You described the DC28 perfectly in 30 seconds. I bought mine for a single-floor beach condo in Florida, and it was great there. Yes, it takes a lineman to push it over medium pile carpet but it sucked up the sand. Brought it back to my two-floor house, damned if it's going up the stairs. It did fine downstairs until the bar stopped rotating recently. Now you've confirmed I'd have to get the whole powerhead replaced, and the part alone is $130. So I will ride it out and sell it for scrap when I head back South to retire. And you are right about a SEBO. My ex got that and it was worlds better.

    I have owned this exact vacuum in 2010 when my engineer of a husband always buys the best of the best of the best. He paid $549 for it at Factory Direct. It has lasted all these years and there was only one time when it was cleaned out. I can't afford that anymore now that my husband unexpectedly passed away in June of 2012 and have other expenses on a limited income. Was a great vacuum but now I'm looking for another.

    I know this video is older. But I’m going to say it. My aunt has a DC28 she got brand new when my uncle was a manager at the corporate Lowe’s and still has it. The only issue she’s had with it is that it doesn’t take much to trip the brush bar sensor and stop the brush especially on thicker carpet and area rugs but it’s been a great vacuum for her and she still uses it. I just bought one used from a thrift store and I don’t think it has any issues works well

    Well, at least I know why it was so inexpensive when I bought it used. I’ve had the brush stop on me about three times and have been able to fix it by cleaning the whole hose system but this time is different. It isn’t going to be an easy fix and I have the tiniest NYC apartment that I only need to vacuum maybe once or twice a month. Of course I don’t know how it was treated before I got it. But I’ll go back to something more basic now. Maybe a Hoover or even a Red Devil. Who knows? I just need the most basic vacuum and this was cheap at the time. Thanks for the advice!

    My first Dyson lasted 15 years (maybe more, it disappeared in a move. I have the one in this video. I got it because I loved my first one so much. It's heavy, awkward, can't clean it since you replace the entire head. It still works but it's disgusting and it's too dang heavy. I wanted to clean the roller assembly and saw this video. I want one of the recommended vacuums but I don't have that kind of money to spend right now. Got a Bissell for now and will save up. I've actually had good luck with most Bissell products. Not saying they are the best but you get a good vac for the money. I do hate replacing things though, so I'll save and try a Meile or something along those lines. Thank you for the informative video.

    I hate working on these. Number one reasons the electronics fail is due to ribbon cable from bending over times breaks from flexing. Crap design as using standard ribbon Cable as they used in old IDE hard drives.

    The two things I needed to know are how to take the roller assembly at least off of the vacuum and how to get the purple top off of the cyclone. I unscrewed the screws but there’s something that won’t come apart and I’m afraid of breaking the red piece.

      @quitoduck Před 4 lety +1

      I agree! I look at videos of others who own Dyson's and it seems majority of them don't empty their bins after every vacuum. It amazes when they do a cleaning video and there's still junk in their bin because they didn't empty it first and seem to wait until it's full before they empty it. I've had my Dyson DC28 Animal for 8 years now and not had 1 problem yet. I just did a full breakdown clean on my Dyson for the first time ever. I don't know why people 💩 on Dyson when I can only say mine has been worth every penny I paid 8 years ago! And sorry to say but Performance Reviews didn't do a great job of cleaning the DC28 probably because it's not his own. The front window panel where the brush is housed can actually be cleaned with a rag and cleaner solution to get the window clearer. I did mine and it's not hard at all to reach in there and scrub and wipe clean. Other than that little oversight I enjoyed his sarcasm and wit during the video.

I appreciate the videos and love to learn about other vacuums, I guess I fail to see why everyone hates Dyson so much. It's also worth nothing that I don't beat the shit out of my things so maybe that's why people have issues with them? Idk... After watching other channels like yours its clear the fanboy-ism is strong in the vacuum world, this can be detrimental to the integrity of a review.
    Some food for thought: Stop accusing companies of using child slave labor if you can't prove it. We all know that Asian countries have different laws than us but this doesn't automatically mean child labor was used. Again, I love the detail of your videos but can't take anything you say with sincerity when you make claims like this. You seem overly biased which makes it hard to take your advice.

      I'm glad your Dyson 28 is still working ! I definitely recommend next time you're looking for a vacuum go give some of the German brands try! The biased comes from in the industry once you try other Vacuums at the same price point that are superior.
      Dyson's use of child labor has been brought up several times they have even been to court about it you can Google that on your own. I appreciate the inquiry I hope you enjoy some of the other reviews my channel has to offer.

      @Guillermo11277 Před 6 lety

      I am familiar with the German brands and they are good but they are also in a different category: Bag vs. bag-less. While I admit there are Pros to using a bag system, there are also Cons. I think it's more appropriate to compare Dyson to Shark or any other bag-less system.
      Unless a court found them guilty of actually using Child labor its all just speculation or zeal.
      What is your opinion on Kirby vacuums? I don't know much about them and while they sound like good performers, their style is definitely out of date and could use a refresh in my opinion.

    I would never buy another dyson product. I bought this overpriced hunk of junk years ago. It was riddled with issues. I now have a Simplicity and love it!!!

      Well when that things working properly it definitely would out clean a DC40 if you took them both out of the box new and tried them side-by-side. You ought to see how much some of the other brands out clean the DC40
