If you want to avoid expensive shipping due to us living in Australia, here is a little work around on Amazon (can do the same on ebay using www.ebay.com.au) which some people have used and made it a lot more affordable. We just wanted to share this with those who this may concern.
    1. Go to top right of Amazon homepage where it has your country flag and language showing
    2. Click change country/region on dropdown menu
    3. Change country to Australia
    4. Amazon page will change all products to those in Australian warehouses. Put items in cart, send to S&P PO box address as you normally would. Should be minimal shipping because its shipping from within Australia

This was my favorite one, I love Jack's goofy side but I also love his strategic and intelligent side. The story thru all 3 has been amazing. Jack's father is the keeper of the Code I believe. Fun fact: when Depp designed Jack Sparrow he took part of his inspiration from Keith Richards, so when they decided to have Jack's Dad in this one, they got Keith Richards to play him. Full circle sort of feel. There are books that give some filler content on the adventures of Jack Sparrow, plus a ton of bloopers/ deleted scenes from the movies. Like a famous one: The reason Jack was branded a pirate. He was originally working for the East India Trading Company, just a small job for a young man to get out on the sea. Until he found out the cargo was slaves. He freed them, but it cost him the ship and his good name. The ship became the Black Pearl and he took the name Jack Sparrow. A deleted scene between him and Cutler Beckett was when Becket told him off for stealing his cargo and Jack says "People aren't cargo mate". It is also why Davy Jones says Jack's soul is worth 100 souls. The 100 he saved, and why all those people mourned his death in the swamp. So many good details that those who hunt for them know and make the story better.

This track is called "What Shall We Die For", which if you listen closely during the second half of the finale when the key changes there's a choir in the background that's singing the lines "yo-ho all together, hoist the colour high..."
The music of the entire first trilogy is spectacular, no exceptions.

I think Jones is so furious at Calypso being set free because, much like him being trapped to sail the sea forever, she was imprisoned in a human form with limited magic.

To my understanding, I think he felt betrayed, because she told him to unalive the Brethren Court for capturing her. However, she must have changed her mind when Will told her that it was Davy Jones who showed the first Brethren Court how to bind her. She basically created the Malstrom and watched them destroying each other

  • @dcemerald70
    @dcemerald70 Před měsícem +1

Yes please do the last two films! They might not be the best, but they are worth the good laughs. The tragic love story between Calypso and Davy Jones has always been my favorite lore in POTC. When Calypso says “It’s my nature.”, She is saying that she was wild and unpredictable as the sea. It’s possible on the one day after 10 years, she could’ve been with Davy Jones in her sea form instead of the human form that he wanted. “Malfaiteur en Tombeau, Crochir l’Esplanade, Dans l’Fond d’l’eau!”, the phrase Calypso yells out when she is freed from her bonds, roughly translates to “Across all the seas, find the path to he who wrongfully entombed me!". Also in the original Greek myth, Calypso is a sea nymph who is the daughter of the Titan Atlas. When the Titans lost the war against the Greek gods, she was punished for siding with her dad. Because she supported him in the war so the gods punished/cursed her that she would have to stay in Ogygia forever. Also Calypso’s real symbol was a dolphin not a crab. They did that because the crab is an octopus’ prey.

'A touch of fate..' I'm not sure if she could completely see the future but she is certainly omnipresent and has some sort of future sight ability and was able to see the strands of fate that lead Will to a new greater purpose. That's why she was so 'affectionate' when she met him, he was her new DaveyqJones

The song at the beginning, _Hoist the Colors,_ was written for the movie to tell the tale of Calypso, Jones, and the Court. Below is my analysis.
    *The Chorus:*
    _Yo ho, haul together_
    _Hoist the colors high_
    _Heave ho, thieves and beggars_
    _Never shall we die_
The chorus is sung numerous times within the song. It's basically telling the pirates, full of thieves and beggers, to get ready to set sail. The lyrics here are obvious in meaning.
    *First verse:*
    _The King and his men_
_stole the Queen from her bed_
_and bound her in her bones_
The King was the Pirate King at that time, and while his identity is unknown, I believe him to be Jones himself (my little theory). The King's men refers to the Brethren Court. The Queen is Calypso, her bed is the sea, and binding her in her bones refers to binding her to her human form.
_the seas be ours and by the powers_
    _where we will we'll roam_
The seas literally belong to the pirates due to having power over Calypso.
    *Second verse:*
    _Now some have died_
    _and some are alive_
    _and others sail on sea_
This is a reference to the chorus of the song, which mention the pirates as thieves and beggars. This part of the verse is obvious in meaning.
_with the keys to the cage_
    _and the Devil to pay_
The "keys" to the cage are the nine Pieces of Eight, which were used to bind Calypso. The Devil refers to Davy Jones himself since he's the one that told the Brethren Court how to bind her; he's also a devil of sorts, or what I like to call, an ocean-bound Hades.
    _we lay to Fiddler's Green._
Fiddler's Green is an after-life of paradise for sailors where a fiddle never stops playing, but in the POTC universe, it is a tavern located in Davy Jones' locker. It might have a fiddle playing inside to fit the narrative.
    *Third verse:*
    _The bell has been raised_
    _From it's watery grave..._
_Do you hear it's sepulchral tone?_
    _A call to all_
    _Pay head the squall_
_And turn your sails to home!_
This entire verse may refer to the scene of POTC where the pirates sing their song, and the Brethren Court is summoned to join together. A "all pirates unite" type of moment.
