Ubisoft released Assassin's Creed Odyssey back in 2018, that's six years ago. Let's take a look back at AC Odyssey to see how it's aged, the good and bad, and if Odyssey is worth playing in 2024.

Assassin's Creed stands as an expansive gaming franchise in the realms of open-world, action-adventure, and stealth genres. Ubisoft, the publisher, primarily entrusts the development to its studio, Ubisoft Montreal, utilizing the Anvil game engine and its more advanced iterations. Conceived by Patrice Désilets, Jade Raymond, and Corey May, the video game series explores a fictional, age-old conflict between the Order of Assassins advocating for peace and free will, and the Knights Templar seeking peace through order and control. The narrative weaves together historical fiction, science fiction, and fictional characters, intricately entwined with genuine historical events and figures. Throughout most games, players navigate the storyline by assuming the role of a historical Assassin, concurrently experiencing the perspective of an Assassin Initiate or a character entangled in the present-day Assassin-Templar conflict. Recognized as a spiritual successor to the Prince of Persia series, Assassin's Creed drew inspiration from Vladimir Bartol's novel "Alamut," which, in turn, is rooted in the historical Hashashin sect of the medieval Middle East.

Odyssey had the most beautiful Assassin's creed world imo, its even an overkill if you include the dlcs, Elysium and Underworld were the most coolest world ive ever seen in any videogame, its a shame that ubisoft had the potential to make it a beautiful standalone game rather than an ac game.
This Is how I felt I loved origins and odyssey
People hate it cuz of lore and it sounding scripted or simply bc it didn't feel like ac. BUT if ur new to assasins creed it's smth ull love frrr it's good doesn't deserve the hate
Personally unity is the most beautiful for me
I'm only like 10 or so hours into the game, but so far, I've had the opposite experience to what you laid out here in many ways. The sheer size of the map is astonishing and really quite breathtaking. While the landscape remains similar, every area is unique, like actually unique. The world is filled with side missions and stories. I mean yeah, I can see where some of the side quests would get repetitive, but I would say 70% of the time, there's something unique about the quest where you get to meet new people and find out more about the world you live in. Greek history is fused into the game at every level, and there are about 1000 different things you can delve into to add layers to the overarching narrative. For instance, you can focus down various cultists for specific armor sets or go to different areas in Greece to find location specific stories. And I haven't even touched the DLCs yet. The combat being arcady; I mean, sure. It's not the most complex system, but AC has never in my experience had a crazy in depth combat system. It's always been more about the story. One thing I can say I am not a huge fan of is the way they made it practically impossible to use the same armor set for more than an hour or two due to the fact that beyond a level or two, if you don't have gear that matches your level, you're basically screwed. And I don't know about you, but I don't like the idea of spending hundreds of resources constantly upgrading your gear just to match the stuff you get so abundantly just by looting chests at your current level. The traveling so far has been more than manageable for me. Mostly because there is always stuff to do every step of the way. You can't walk 10 seconds without running into a side mission or a camp or an objective for a mission you already took, or get attacked by a mercenary. So while the distances are vast, if you just enjoy the things you find as you find them, you won't even notice the distance. For a 6 year old game, I am simply shocked by how well it has aged. It is a rare gem of a game that I am thoroughly enjoying. But as you said, it's just not suited to your personal preferences, which I understand.
This is why I think Origins was the best out of the 3 RPG games. The world was beautiful and felt massive, but wasn't bloated. Which Odyssey has a little problem with. Also, the gear in Origins was just handled better, there was just enough to where you could switch every couple of hours, but didn't feel like you had too. Odyssey has the problem where I'm constantly switching. And Valhalla just over corrected to where you're using the same thing for 10-20 hours at a time lmao.
I’ve been playing this game for 6 years now as my own personal stress reliever and role play game where I pretend I live in these times as a hunter and traveler and go to all the different parts of the maps finding all the question marks and exploring caves and ruins then at night I like to sneak into camps and steal there supplies without alerting people lol
This game is perfect if you grew up watching Conan the barbarian and stuff where having an eye for RP is exactly what this game was made for imo 😅
Could you plz tell me that am I the only one who think that it takes a lot of time to level up cz it's been around 2 weeks I've been playing daily for around 3hrs and have leveled up to just 14, is it normal?
@@Shadow-iu8zm Ehhhhh, sorta normal tbh. Yes it takes a while to level up, but I mean doing side quests can speed things up. Lvl 14 in 2 weeks feels slow though tbh.
@@Shadow-iu8zm No that’s not normal. But I suspect you’re probably just not doing things that award much XP. Doing missions and side missions grant the majority of your XP. You get very very little for slicing and dicing. Every town you go to, just pick up all of the side missions, same on your ship. Take out the larger forts, take on the mercenaries coming after you. You should start leveling quicker.
Odyssey is a great RPG game, it just gets hate because it’s so different to the older games. Beautiful world, fun combat, what’s not to like?!
"what's not to like ?!" Idk maybe that most of the enemies are damage sponges especially early on, calling it a assassins creed game with pretty much no tie ins to the actual creed, pretty much sneaking is nothing, and the fact that either main character are as bland as marvel characters nowadays, yea don't get me wrong it has a beautiful layout but it's soooo bad
@@mateomacias374 Who tf cares? The storyline was amazing and the most engaging we've played in a long time. It's a different approach to the original AC games but still it is a fun AC game nevertheless. The inclusion of the mercenary bounty system was also thrilling. AC 3 had all tie ins to the "actual creed" yet it was utter crap compared to this game. Play it with an open mind dude
@@alcappacino dude I tried to keep a open mind to it but I couldn't like at all, I ended up throwing away the game after you meet the main protagonist's father, plus you want a different aprouch to the original assassins creed games? Then play assassins creed origins it's exactly what you want but sooo much better, plus it's a tie in to all the Assassins creed games except odyssey thank god, I will give you the fact that the mercenary mechanic was good yea, but thats like the only thing I can think of that's good about the game, everything else is such ass
@@alcappacino An assassin‘s creed game Hass to be in assassin‘s creed game. If this is your mentality, then you don’t appreciate what made the older games so great. Also, it’s not even that good of a game, let’s stop acting like it is.
Odyssey has a brain dead parkour system, simplistic, as fuck climbing, lore retcons, a modern day that means nothing, no social stealth, a world that lacks variety and it’s environment at least compared to origins, cringey dialogue, and has a scummy pay to win system.
Who the fuck cares if the world is beautiful? Are superficial qualities all that matter to a game nowadays? Also, the combat is tedious.
What to remember ? Naval battles? Cyclops ? Minotaur? Medusa? Lost Atlantis? Adis? The Lion of Nemea? Cities with beautiful graphics? BEST GAME !! I completed 100% Achievements !

Wow@@zicuvalentin2251
100%? There's Sooo many side jobbies. How long it take u to do it?
@@2TONESKY listen it's hard at the beginning because you have to upgrade the level and the weapons but after you finish all that the main story only lasts 40 hours and you're not forced to do everything unless you like it...
I’m a 36 yr old mom who was a gamer in my teens but lost out as I was raising my family. I just got myself a gaming system for the first time in 16 years and this was one of the first games I decided to try. I am LOVING it. It blows my mind how much things have changed since I was a teen. Thanks for the vid!
That’s brilliant! I’d recommend playing the Witcher 3. It’s my favourite game of all time with a rich world, gameplay and story
Im trying ghost of tsushima atm its amazing open world samurai game. If you dig japanese story and legends you will love ghost of tsushima.
Gna give AC a try tho once im done cuz i havent played an AC game since i had a PS2 like 14 years ago lol.
Im a dad in same boat, picked up gaming again in the last few years
Tbh, this game is hidden diamond.
Amazing world ,exploration, navy gameplay, fights are fun, merceneries mechanic is cool, missions are often deep, most are fun, story is unique, etc etc.
Is it flooded with missions and stuff to do? Yes, but you dont have to do it. You dont, really. But if you want, you will be happy.
Is in AC world, but you are not Assassin, thats fine. Just accept that and enjoy.
There's a lot you can do in the game, but when you actually do all the missions you start to realize most of the missions are boring fetch quests.
Ship combat could be a TON better then it is now, it's actually kinda disappointing,
More then half of your crew stays on the ship while you fight, and after a certain amount of your crew dies, they just stop helping you, I'd get it if they had a crew system like black flag, but there isn't, there's an unlimited amount of soldiers on your ship that come aboard when you are done with boarding or when you come back to your ship, it could be a lot better tbh, the naval battles aren't really that fun or engaging, you just keep shooting at each other, until one of you die, and if they're a level higher then you then good luck, black flag at least let's you use tactics, but in Odyssey you just mindlessly spam attack, to kill the enemy the fastest.
And no Odyssey isn't just a bad game because it's a AC game but doesn't even have assassins, it's also a bad game as in gameplay, it is just not balanced if someone is 1+ levels higher they can almost one shot you, and barely take damage, even enemies that are the same level as you can be damage spunges sometimes, especially mercenaries who always know where you're at for some reason, like seriously I could be at a random fort and they'd know where I am, also no shields😂, they're too lazy to just even add shields.
The sound quality is definitely less impressive when compared to origins and any other game before it just seems less "crispy" and "alive", the graphics while being better then origins, seems a bit more blurry or kind of playdoughy (which isn't a word but it's the best way I can explain it)
The only thing that is definitely better is the scale, but it's also the reason why it's so shallow, as in lacks depth, most of the land looks the same especially the mountains and forrests,
but the city's are ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, CHEFS KISS😘.
Man you are so wrong about the dialogue choices. In the beginning if you let those bandits alive they will wait for you when you go meet markos. Many choices have an impact in the later game.
Wow, instead of fighting someone, you can fight them 20 seconds after! What an amazing choice lmao. The game has no choices that affect the main story in meaningful ways (like if you save your family, you get a different 20 second ending, and then they have... one line of dialogue when you join your ship). Compared to any crpg or even any choice heavy rpg ac odyssey is a joke
@@svetl1163 Wow. What a logic. Do you really think odyssey wanted to be at the same level with some crpg when it is a game set in assassin's creed universe? Plus you can't make a prequel for a franchise and having tons of different endings. They're just variations and they did well keeping them like they did beacuse going too far it will make no sense.
But the disscusion should have been about the first choice that you laugh about. Yeah the choice is simple but the guy that made the video was wrong and giving his wrong opinions about something it's not okay especially if they are presented as a fact. Plus it can make people question his ability on offering an honest review.
@@alexandruacatrinei1032 bro first off I ain't reading allat second yeah, if AC Odyssey doesn't have the same choices like a Pillars or a Witcher game has, and all the choices except 1 or 2 are meaningless and have no consequences then yeah, there are basically no choices in the game. If they didnt want you to have control over the AC Universe because its a prequel (which is complete BS by the way, how on earth would having MORE TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY in the ending change established AC lore), maybe they shouldn't have made a vapid RPG with no meaningful choices lol, and maybe focused on making cutscenes and having voice acting that is not literally 15 years behind red dead, and in many ways is worse than their earlier games lmao. And gtfo with the prequel excuse, there's plenty of opportunities they had to make fun faction choices (like maybe your choices in the Elysium and Hades DLCs could affect the ending and which powers you get or something, like you could side with Hades or somehow help Tartarus ppl take over his realm by being extra evil) or choices for characters that don't show up later meaningful
@@svetl1163 Helping Hades really sound like something that Kassandra would do 🤣👍✌️. Great idea 🤣🤣. It's clear that this disscusion is useless. Have a nice day.
@@alexandruacatrinei1032 yes, a character who u can make LEAVE A BABY BURN ALIVE IN A TEMPLE isn't evil enough to help this fictional random Isu hallucination, lmao. It's amazing how far brainless odyssey fanboys will go to justify their awful game tastes lol. Kassandra wasn't even a well established character before Odyssey, there's nothing she's "meant" or not meant to do lmao, they give you an RPG where you can do limitless choices that mean nothing and have no impact on anything but the next 30 seconds, but as soon as u could have like questlines that affect the actual world, well we can't have those because uhhhh Kassandra wouldn't do it? Like bro, how low iq do ur arguments get. Anyways I agree there's no purpose talking to drooling fanboys like u so have a nice day too bro
If you are a rpg player and you also like historical settings and world, you will find an incredible experience in Odyssey
im glad i bought this game and enjoying it. i saw that video few weeks ago, and thought not to buy it because you really just mentioned mostly negative about this game, but because this game was on sale, i give it a try and played 80 hours and i have to say its a a Huge WIN. GUYS DONT LET THESE COMMENTS OR VIDEO FOOL YOU, Just play this game without having little concern about these small problems. I personally enjoyed when i hit Level 35 and was almost done. and btw don’t see this as a ac game, more like normal videogame
Im pretty sure you haven’t played the dlc, its pure beauty i can tell you that.
@@BlackPanther_1029 i began with the first dlc and i really love it. I’m excited of the second dlc, i heard there is some new ares to explore, can’t wait once i’m done with the first dlc !
I’m not trying to get anyone not to play. I’m really glad you are enjoying it. I just say how I feel about it from my own perspective
Man, this game was great. Actually plan on doing a replay this weekend. Currently trying to finish mirage but just cant get into it tbh.
I don't understand why he said people stayed away from Odyssey? The game made over a billion dollars in revenue. It was probably one of the most popular games, including valhalla.
Hates gonna hate.
Any idiot can buy a game, look at the new cod for an example, sales numbers doesn't mean it's a good game.
If you judge the game as an Assassins Creed game, expecting its classic elements, then it is not good. But, if you see it independent of the rest of the series, then it is magestic. I just loved the game
Assassin's Creed Odyssey ¡Rocks! 😎👉
I first played this game in 2023, (right after finishing Origins) and although it took me a little while to get used to style of the game(humour, characters etc), I absolutely fell in love with it! I found the characters were funny, interesting and Kassandra is easily in my top 3 AC characters of all time. I will agree that the game has many flaws(like all AC games) but I loved the open world so much I would just spend hours wandering around doing side-quests. In a time where I cannot afford going on an actual holiday to sunny beaches, I enjoyed going on a virtual trip to ancient Greece!
This game is definitely not for everyone, but neither are the old school AC games, or Origins and Valhalla. So in that manner, this is a perfectly fitting addition to the AC franchise..😆
And yes, I am someone who enjoys both marmite and pineapple on pizza, so take that as you will...😅😂
The purist in me love the old games and they’ll always be my favourite, but odyssey is the game I’ve replayed the most, I’m not sure why because it lacks most things that I love about AC but it’s still a solid game that tickles the itch in my brain to tick lists every once in a while
There are hundred of choices that have inpacts later in the game
I have no idea what Marmite is but my preferred Pizza toppings are Pineapple, Salad Peppers and Black Olives. usually with Parmasan Cheese sprinkled on top. I haven't played any Assassin's Creed released after Origins but I have Odyssey and Valhalla and will probably get Mirage soon. I could have gotten Odyssey when I got Origins but I've had a soft spot for Khopeshes aka Sickle Swords since I read some about them in a history book in dad's oldest friend's house while dad and I were waiting for him to finish some work so we could start our planned tabletop gaming session so I got Origins first.
Love AC Odyssey and Valhalla and both are brilliant but there’s way too many people who want to complete a game in a day or so exploring in the games are great the sea battles are great too
Amazing video man!!! I love Assassin's Creed Odyssey so much. I finished everything in the game, it took a few years but I finished the main story, all of the DLC stories, and all of the side quests!! This is a really amazing video game!! I like Origins more because Egypt is my favorite country but Odyssey is fantastic!! 😁😁😎😎💯💯💯💜💜💜✨✨✨
This was my first ever AC game and It’s amazing IMO the world is so immersive and beautiful, I’ve been to many of the locations IRL… i do understand why an AC fan would be disappointed by this game though, does not put you into the shoes of an assassin at all
I’m replaying this game as my second play through. Only 10 hours in, I’ve done a lot, currently hunting for Achilles armor. I just rewatched the movie Troy so I’m here now
Classic movie
The architect is beautiful the lands , maps the role play and Kassandra too best ac i ever played and i started odyssey last week and been playing assassin's creed since it first started in the early 2000s....
The game i always return to. This and Gothic. What a gem !
I don’t care what anyone says, this game is goated
I enjoyed the game and got every worth of my money out of it 😊
Ngl to u the only thing I don’t agree with is the building to building transition I took that approach differently I got to the highest point laid the rout and ran it so I don’t think I really felt what u did
Origins and Odyssey are probably my favorite AC games! While I enjoyed AC2 a lot back then, it's simply not that fun to play anymore and I never was too happy with how Black Flag is structured, it was too much of sailing and the world felt dead to me. Valhalla on the other side is probably the worst AC to date, it's such a massive downgrade to Odyssey, I couldn't believe it back when it released.
I played this ac Game for 9 hours straight, the side quests are so fun and Kasandra is a really interesting chracter
To this day I've still never completed or played much of the game, I played the first little bit with Leonidas, got to where u pick your character (chose Alexios) and started the first little bit of Caphalonia up until you got your ship, and by then I was already bored, and then stopped there.
It is not just a game, but using a game to lure you into actually enjoying history, giving you just a bite, so enriching that, older assassin's games barely scratched the surface with tha lost potential, but limited resources; as well as the blending of old legends, myths, tales with the modern fiction take on them. The sheer amount of connections to the real cradle is just outstanding and much praise to the historians/programmers for digging and including so much. If you are there for pure gaming it is understanble on the limited variety after the 30hours mark, I went back to it to do Alexios (after Kassandra +150hrs, the better of the 2), dude he speaks on occasion with a russian accent😂, Kassandra is oscar perfect and still haven't had enough of it. It could be an endless "library" just by unveiling a single location or npc name, the real life lessons and references are just brilliant. If you have read some of the real life stories, you get the hilarious takes on them, the liberty they have taken and the jokes. origins/odyssey/valhalla are masterpieces for those that need a little more culture but still having fun.
That’s the main difference between the original games and the newer ones. The originals weren’t about the history, that was the backdrop. Their sole focus was the Assassins and Templars. Where as Odyssey is a history game. That’s why the newer games appeal to certain types of players and the older games appeal to a completely different type of player
Could you plz tell me that Am I the only one who think that it takes a lot of time to level up cz it's been around 2 weeks I've been playing daily for around 3hrs and have leveled up to just 14, is it normal?
played it for the first time a year ago. It was honestly excellent.
So I basically play this game as a Role play game, I did the missions to start the game and get my ship then I just traveled the map and pretended to be a hunter traveler and explorer, I’d remove any weapons and just start traveling during the day going to all the question marks and exploring then at night I’d sneak into bases and steal there supplies!
This game reminds me of the movie Conan the barbarian and I like to RP it like that
Imo this game was made for people with an eye for RP 😅
I became 400 level in ac Valhalla. Now i am thinking should i play odyssey and not sure
The way I see it. It's single player world of warcraft set in ancient Greece and that's just fine by me. A classic of the 2010's
the fate of atlantis dlc is awesome part of game you should definitely give it a go
Odyssey is not only the best looking AC game, it's the most fun and just the best in the series. Odyssey also has the best protagonist, Kassandra. Not you Alexios.

I love my dunbass Alexios
@@unaihernaezauzmendi9787 I finished ODYSSEY 2 times with alexios and 4 times with kassanra...it's good to have a woman in the games and the upcoming GTA 6 they said will put a woman.

3000 hours is crazy
I have been having a blast playing it, and I got it on sale for $8. Huge bang for the buck.
The issue for majority if they play with an assassin game mentally when you gotta play as a worrior take the fights head on like a bad ass not a coward in a bush / thugs, bandits😂

If you like greek history you like odyssey.
Loving it , stuck on Medusa though

Like how you say AC1 - Revelations was the peak of the series when Black Flag came out after Rev..
Black flag also has amazing assassins creed storytelling
@@theexileac imo the best of the entire series. Never understood the hype for Revelations, was completely tired of playing as Ezio and being in the Italian setting, 3 games of the same shit. Was very stale by then and 3 then subsequently Black Flag actually saved the IP because it was fresh and new for once after years of only getting Ezio.
Black flag wasn't an assassins creed game (yes it was literally) but it had very little to do with the conflict between the assassins and Templars besides a shoehorned narrative in the modern time-line. It more seems like they made a sick pirate game on the foundation of AC games and then slapped the AC name on it to sell more copies than they thought they would with a new IP.
@@dakotastrout1733 you mean the part of every AC game that has the worst storytelling by basically all accounts? I feel like most fans play the games for the historical settings and the combat and much less for the actual overarching story of the age old conflict between Templars and Assassins. You have to have it because it’s a mf Assassin game and everything basically stems from it. But it’s the least important or cared about aspect of the games I think that’s not even a hot take i feel like that’s the consensus.
@cojac6SMG yeah definitely is the weaker narrative in all the games but it's after Desmonds arc the degree to which it was weaker than the historical time-line narrative was egregiously apparent. I also don't disagree that most people play just for the historical gameplay, but for those of us who are interested in the games as more of a whole story experience it's missing something. Again though, I love it as THE quintessential pirate game!
I'm sorry. But who tf uses 'A' to assassinate
Odyssey,Black Flag and Unity are the most enjoyable games for me
they should've made it as a new prince of persia game instead of making it as one of the AC game

P.S- you can easily put over 1k++ hours into it.
RPGs are the gods nectar, but this is just bad game design, they probably threw a lot of people off of the ideal of playing RPGs just because how terrible this game truly is.
You can't even be a assassin in this game, it's so unsatisfying.
This video is soo stutter/unsmooth its not fun to watch!
I'm not the only one who thinks 1-revelations were the best?!? Are you real? Am I dreaming?
Also black flag was not an assassins creed game, don't get me wrong it was a blast but it was pirates creed.
@@dakotastrout1733I understand your point of view, but I do think the story of black flag does a great job of going into the philosophy of the creed - just within the lens of someone who isn’t an assassin until he reaches a certain point in his character development
You should Always say...IN MY OPINION! Everyone has their own reasons for playing any game, and their own personal level of enjoyment and appreciation of the specific game they're playing.
Try being more of an Objective presenter for a change!
Maybe watch it again until you hear me specifically say that I acknowledge my biases and you should only use this video to lend to your OWN opinion lol
All AC games are repetotove in fact all video games are. Even when everything changes cknstantly games are repritive, the question: is it worth playing? Yes absolutely. Also alexios is fantastic and kassandra is awkward much of the time.
The cult didn't predate the order
It was a very beautiful game but I think the story was one of the worst in the series
They just used the assassin’s creed name to get the game famous
I was actually curious if there are others like me who never played Odyssey and just purchased the Gold edition recently for 80% off. For $20 is absolutely a banger - I've played for a couple of days and it rocks. Graphics wise is stunning.
Haters gonna hate.
Odyssey is one of those games that gets way too much hate and much of it comes from people that want another Unity in my experience. For me, it's not like Unity and I love that about it. Both are two sides of a coin and both are fun in their own right. While Odyssey doesn't have as narrow a focus on the assassins order and the lore surrounding the group, I appreciated that it wanted to be different and look at other aspects of the lore. If Odyssey had played more like Origins, let go of leveling, and had stealth kills that worked no matter what, more AC fans would love it. I don't agree with dialogue options in AC and I would have made a vastly different campaign. For what it is though, Odyssey is easily an 8 out of 10. Too much hate for a game that doesn't deserve it. I'd recommend anyone to play it as the grind is fun and making a build that works really well builds of sense of fulfillment. Other games that have grinds don't bother me. AC Unity has a grind so I never really cared. Keeps me invested and I still find new ways to enjoy Odyssey. Also, team Alexios any day. Wish him and Kassandra had been playable together.
The hate it gets is pretty much from players who are unable to accept change... You cannot expect a game developer to constantly give you the same formula over and over again . And let's be honest : Had AC been developed by any other studio, they would have gone the open world RPG route eventually anyway . It's unavoidable . With games like Witcher 3 , Skyrim around , it would have been very stupid of them not to make AC open world . Could they have done better ? Of course.. but these games are nowhere as bad as people claimed them to be. Ironically , Valhalla was hated to death , but it was the best selling AC game ever .
God every time I watch one of these videos I can’t believe how contradictory AC fans are. “Black flags ship mechanics are amazing! I love sailing!”
“Odyssey’s ship mechanics are boring! I hate them!” (They’re literally the same minus boarding😂)
I love AC combat systems! They’re so dynamic and unrepetitive compared to odyssey!” (They’re not actually, early AC games were “press circle then square” over and over)
On and on and on and on… It gets to the point where I don’t think AC fans can agree on anything.
Also, the quests were unbelievably good. From phoebe’s death to meeting her again in the underworld. From meeting a sick family and deciding their fate, to seeing the consequences of that. From sparing your father to meeting your mother, and the consequences of that too.
My point is, odyssey is one of the greatest RPG’s I’ve played. Up there with Baldurs gate and Skyrim, all great but for different reasons.
I never said any of that. Combat’s never been a strong point in the whole series. I even gave credit where credit’s due to Odyssey’s combat in this video. I don’t have anything against naval combat in odyssey either. Pretty much the same as black flag and works well. Comparing odyssey to baldurs gate and Skyrim in quality though does make me want to jump into a volcano
@@theexileac You did say it? And odyssey combat was great. WAY more varied than assassins creed. We can agree to disagree tho, but there’s a reason odyssey contended for GOTY alongside giants like RDR2 and God of war
@@theexileac To be fair too, I’m not comparing the games. Obviously bg3 is above them all. But bg3 is WAY above them all. So when I say that I really mean:
1. Baldurs gate 3
2. Skyrim
3. Rdr2 (probably not above Skyrim because of nostalgia
4. Odyssey
And the whole its not realistic enough is also stupid because none if the ac games are 100% realistic😅
Odyssey is a good ancient greek fantasy game but far from an assassins creed game
And beacose its tryng to be an ac game its bad
Played ODYSSEY 3000h😂😂😂...
Hi
Hey bro!
I liked odyssey
Its a good open world rpg but far from a good AC
Agreed
I played Origins through several times and still love it, this is the game that made me stop buying Ubisoft games. I've always had an extreme hatred of damage sponge enemies, but this game takes it to a new level. When I quit I was level 47, strong build, full set of upgraded legendary armor and weapons. I kept running into mercs at my level or lower that could kill me with three hits and only spammed special attacks with no cool down. It took me over 10 minutes to kill some of them, it's like I was hitting them with a pool noodle and it just kept getting worse the more I progressed. The experience seems very inconsistent, I've had friends that had the same problems as I did and some that didn't so I'm not really even sure what to do to fix the issue. You get the one finger salute Ubisoft, way to ruin what should've been one of my favorite games
Odyssey is quite poor in my eyes. It doesn't innovate much and just reduces stuff to very basic functions. Stealth being absolutely butchered above all else.
Yeah definitely the worst stealth in the series, even though the same dev team made Syndicate which has surprisingly good stealth imo
This is the most overrated game ever. I absolutely cannot stand people praising this game to high heavens when it’s not that special considering other RPGs. Most people just like it cuz, “pretty open world” and “big map” with “lots to do” as of superficial qualities are enough to make a game good.
And in terms of an AC game, it’s abysmal. An ac game has to have assassins in it. That would be like if sniper elite didn’t have snipers or skate 4 came out and didn’t have skateboarders, pretty valid to call that out. Parkour and climbing are brain dead, social stealth is taken out, modern day is meaningless dogshit, and the fantasy shit feels alien to the series. These are valid criticisms and if people don’t care about these last things then they just don’t know nor appreciate what ac is.
First
its too generic and buggy for me to like it
Hater
Just no.
It’s my favorite assassin’s creed and Valhalla is second best🫠
At this point,Ghost of tsushima or sekiro is more of an assassins game than assassins creed itself
odyssey is the first AC game I just didn't even bother to finish.
in short No. and in longer length and no fuck you if you buy it
Holy shit the “illusion of choice”?? Just tell me you’re lying to your fanbase without telling me you’re lying to your fanbase 😭😭😭😭
WHEN? COMING THIS GAME IN 2024??? WHEN?😊CAAAO..
It's better than valhala but worse than origins by a big margin
I think everyone should play this game for 15-20 hours only
Played ODYSSEY 3000h😂😂😂...
For me I cannot see the reason to get this game over any other AC Game. Odyssey does stealth and parkour worse than any other game. Story is horrendously paced with every heartfelt moment interrupted by ten filler quests. Combat was grindy and purposefully made to encourage microtransactions. Zero interesting mission design, it's just repeating the same open world activities over and over again. Traversal is also reduced to holding the walk button forward for ten minutes. Feels like everything unique with AC was ripped away with Odyssey and made into every other RPG out there.
ye you're definitely not a Hive-Minded Drone (you are)...
@@godzillazfriction Then inform me how I'm wrong.
@@obsidianwarrior5580 you're making baseless arguments about the 'criticism' for Odyssey...
its very one-noted to the point that im not bothered to actually convince to you how you're wrong.
Stealth is fine you just don't know how to play it.
@@godzillazfriction Did you actually say my arguments were baseless and then say you can't be bothered to tell me that I'm wrong, just that I am? Can you not see the irony in that?
Is a good game just not a good ac game
