Every Assassin's Creed Video Game Ranked From WORST To BEST

- Between the time that video games were first invented and the mid-2000s, there was a gap in the market for a series set in various historical locations (but tied to the present day) where the objective was to run around and shank people with a knife hidden up your sleeve. It was, admittedly, a niche gap, but it was there. Thankfully, in 2007, this oddly specific need was met with the launch of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Since then, Ubisoft’s love letter to sneaking about and sitting on benches has become one of gaming’s most dependable pillars, with total sales of over 200 million and a place in the hearts of gamers in every corner of the globe. However, it’s the small differences between each game that separate the good from the great. Here is Every Assassin’s Creed Video Game Ranked from Worst to Best.

Let us know what your favourite Assassin's Creed game is! Who's your favourite assassin?
I'm crazy about AC Valhalla!!! Eivor, of course!
Assassin´s creed Unity, Altair
@@lezannekruger9086 I bought the hell set and when u get the fire sword ability shi is easy 🤩
Unity deserved better. Go back and play it today, and it performs much better. It got a ton of hate at launch but updates and modern systems have made it clear just how great that game is. Even graphically, Unity looks better than games that are coming out today. It's much better than people give it credit for.
Unity is a fantastic game! I just replayed a couple months ago. It holds up. I missed all the glitches during the release, playing it more than a year after it’d come out. I think it’s unique, fun, and it looks beautiful.
Broken parkour, frustrating combat, pointless story, horrible characters. Even updated, Unity is the worst AC game.
@@DJCube1701I feel like you've just described most AC games tbh 😅
Not really the game still runs like shit. I couldn’t even get over triple digits with a 3060ti at 1440p.
Agreed. I got my PS4 18 months after it's original release date with Unity included and was pleasantly surprised. Only encountered a couple of bugs and didn't crash nearly as many times as Valhalla
Unity is an example where you shouldn't look too hard at launch reviews, since they don't reflect the games current state. Unity is easy top half of the list if you were to play it today
If you play it today, it's still the worst main AC game, worse than Liberation.
and AC III does the reverse, it was well reviewed for some reason but certainly not aged well.
unity wouldnt be the worst mainline game when there is valhala and syndcate
@@DJCube1701I recommend watching Whitelight's video on it. Or LeoK's parkour videos. Unity definitely has a bunch of issues but I truly feel like it's one of the best representations of the true potential of AC and is a major evolution of the classic formula. It was marred by a terrible launch, famously bad bugs and glitches and a poor initial critical reception.
@@Bearded.Nobody I played it myself a few years ago. The controls are atrocious, it feels like you're yelling at the main character and are hoping that he eventually listens to your instructions, and then he jumps off a building into water because you tried to go up.
X-Men games from worst to best, PLEASE!
I've played nearly all of them, the three I enjoyed most were AC 2, Black Flag and Syndicate
Agreed and Origins was awesome too.
@@jaysilva5854 recently started playing valhalla. Its very different from the ezio games which are the other ac games ive played, but im enjoying valhalla lots
@@jaysilva5854extreme grindy
If i wanted to play ac for the first time in ps4, should i try valhalla or odyssey?
@@Genkai11 Origins. It's a much better game.
Requiescat in pace.
My goat
I definitely can't abide Unity being lower than Valhalla. Just the parkour alone is enough to elevate it. It's a real shame that Ubisoft kinda threw the baby out with the bathwater with Unity. If they had stuck with the design elements of Unity and refined them for a sequel, we may have gotten close to a perfect AC game (for some)
Putting revelations at 9 is an absolute disgrace… That game is absolutely amazing
No, u're wrong
Why the PoP Trilogy was never that popular? Had some xp with Motion Capture and really admire AC's seriously fluid, accurate animations and movement and fight choreography - it did the cinematic style of the narrative justice. As well as the character's facial likeness and performance capture. Kudos to the devs. Ps. You almost saw me as Leon in these new Resident Evil games :)
I lost track of AC a bit. But got all in again with Mirage. Love the return to the roots.
I need a bow And arrow
Ah, another "Worst to Best" list. About time. 😅
Here are my top 3 AC games: #1 Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, #2 Assassin's Creed II, #3 Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (#2 and #3 have switched over time)
The Assassins Creed III bait and switch might have worked if every single bit of pre launch media and the game box didn’t contain Connor
i played rogue on my ps3 good old days back then, but im really love syndicate because the world build its so beautiful and alive
Credit where credit's due, "pyramiddling" was a really solid joke, well done.
10/10 its why I keep coming back
Hi BAP! Love you guys 💜
Unity being so low makes me sad. It's an amazing game that was plagued with performance issues at launch. After all the patches though it ended up being fantastic.
The thing is even overlooking the performance issues, the game's story and characters are very ass.
Agreed, it has the worst story of the of AC games and the second worst main character. Also while a lot of the bugs are fixed there is still plenty of janky bits.
Revelations launched on PC too. And AC III too. All of them launched on PC except 1 and Rogue which arrived later.
Placing unity this low is criminal!!!! Try playing the current version, it is easily top 5.
Regarding AC: Mirage - what are you talking about?? This game did not have the present, or did I play some strange version (downloaded from PS store)?
Assassins Creed 2 + Brotherhood.
If we ever get a remake of AC2+Brotherhood, I would love it if Rodrigo Borgia would get a new character model and voice actor…. Both in the form of Jeremy Irons.
This legend will always be Rodrigo Borgia to me.
Its been a while when i did relinquished to play ubisoft game! But i cant agree more, if they are willing to make a " remake " of the trilogy i'll buy it at all cost, those games are the best in the series for me
3
Revelations
Brotherhood
Black flag
2
Rogue
Valhalla
1
Origins
Syndicate
Odyssey
Liberation
China
Russia
India
Mirage
Unity
That’s my order. And I’ve 100%ed all of them.
The fact that Valhalla and Odyssey is ranked higher on this list than Syndicate and Revelations is mind boggling.
What’s mind boggling is your inability to accept other people’s opinions
I genuinely didnt like odyssey.
As somone with 100% sync in all the mainlome entires, my favorites are definitely unity, 2, rogue and revelations.
Least favourite is valhalla. By a very large margin.
Valhalla is great. Put 200 hours in it and never got bored.
Only You Tubers who rushes through the games ans have 2 week time to do so to give review complained its too big. They made people believe its not good.
When I finally played it myself I regretted I didnt play it earlier. Its not too big, its great rpg which has content for months and enterteined me months.
@@susanna8612 no new game plus tho just ruins it
I loved Bloodlines, Altair was abandoned too quickly imo
My favourites seem to be mostly setting based, as Brotherhood, II, Origins, and Odyssey are my favourites. I liked Black Flag, but it just didn't do it for me as much as running and climbing through the Collosseum, the Pyramids, and the Acropolis. I also REALLY enjoyed the museum modes.
AC1 combat is only repetitive for those that limit themselves to countering. There are a second set of more brutal counters, dodges, break defense, combo kills, and the shock and awe system - which is similar to Ghost of Tsushimas terrify mechanic. AC1s combat is my favourite in the series and, to mildly *counter* another point, the hardest until Unity.
The maps are the best parkour playgrounds in the series.
A lot of ppl also never notice that the smaller the blade, smaller the counter window. And master the hidden blades counter flawlessly is so satisfying.
@@colinhoeg4728 it is very cool to consistently counter with the hidden blade. I could do it 16 years ago but I've aged like milk. I wish I knew more about the shock and awe system back then, would probably had longer execution combos
@WideOldDan lol I can't say how I've aged when it comes to AC1 cause I basically play it once year whenever I hit a dead zone with games. So it takes a little bit to get good with again but once I'm there I'm good for the playthrough. But yeah I'm sure I've aged in some other games in certain ways. Sekiro for sure being one of them 🤣
@@colinhoeg4728 I play it once in a while but I've found I can't get back to the same level the last few times. Played Smackdown HCTP recently and had some struggles but I used to be a near perfect machine on that game.
@WideOldDan lol aye I'm 32. I get it bro. Honestly I think the only reason my gaming reflexes havnt withered away as much is cause of playing smash bros so sweaty. If I didn't have that I'd be probly done.
I haven’t played all of AC’s but AC2 has always been my favorite and after many years I just started playing it again 😁
Please do a Final Fantasy one soon! 🙏🙏🙏
I knew Altair's Chronicles would be last lol
I haven't played an Assassin's Creed game since ACIII, but I'm going to give this everything I've got.
AC: Rogue is actually one of my favourites and imo deserves better - it was one of the better stories throughout the series.
100% agreed! Shay Cormack was a great character!
essentially its black flag
@@everx7 gameplay-wise: absolutely, you won't hear any objections from me. But the story is what really captivated me. And the action sequences, like what happened in Lisbon? Gurl, that was the best in the whole franchise.
How about rank every Nickelodeon franchise in video game the worst to best
Could be my Nostalgia glasses Assassin's Creed on the DS was mind-blowing before its time sure it wasn't open world with the gameplay was fun
I know it’s not a popular opinion (At all), but my favourite AC game is ‘AC Origins’. It combines the focus of assassinations and varied mission design from ‘AC II’ to the open world nature of ‘Black flag’, as the different deserts and location replace the sea with a lot of fun side content. Add to it the most polished combat system to that time, and a fine enough story, and that’s why it’s my favourite🙂🙂
I'm so happy that Black Flag wasn't #1. It was a fine game but I've never understood the obsession with it. The series really peaked with the Ezio games. Great list as always.
I only clicked with the AC4 story after emigrating. Something about all the friends you used to have at first slowly leaving one at a time before you find your true purpose and finding a new place resonated a lot with Edwards story. But I would agree that Black Flag is better as a pirate game and not a traditional AC style of game.
Proper pirate games will ALWAYS be looked at as gems. Not enough of them are made. Just look at Skull & Bones, the spiritual successor to Black Flag. People are coming back to play Black Flag simply because Skull & Bones doesn't cut it 🤣
Having said that, even though Black Flag is my favorite, nothing will beat Ezio's peak 💯
He puts the "ass" into "assassin" really killed me.
oobisoft? come on pal, youre in the UK. Yew-bisoft
Odyssey, AC2, Black Flag and Mirage are my favourites.
Bruh.. have to use chapters for a video that’s 40+ minutes long. 😣
syndicate behind Valhalla is insane.
AC1, Syndicate, Valhalla, Odyssey are my favorites.
Least favorite is AC Liberation, AC 3 and never was big fan of the "oh so popular" Piracy game black flag.
Unity isn't a game I particularly like but that was ridiculous reasoning. Why are we still talking about bugs that were fixed nearly a decade ago? How about the fact that nothing works quite right?
Liberations definitely did have the first WOC and I'm not trying to downplay that representation, but Altaïr is literally a Syrian character, or Persian in that time period, do people from the Middle East not count as POC?
-Unity deserves a better spot for how it plays NOW!
-Revelations is the best of the Ezio Trilogy (fight me on it)
-I cannot believe Valhalla and Odyssey and Origins are as high as they are when they have almost nothing to do with any of the other games (I never liked Origins being the start of the whole timeline when i never gave a single shit about Bayek and his wife.)
-I actually don't mind AC2 being #1, it was my first AC game and it is still fantastic
Revelations was the worst
I love Syndicate. I think it’s mostly the setting and Starrick as the big bad.
3 is the best. Fight me… Connor will win for me
Unity deserves a higher rating, Unity was buggy, but a fantastic game
Okay seeing unity at the bottom of the main franchise doesn’t give me hope for the rest of this list
The RPG games (origins, odyssey, and Valhalla) should have been down lower considering they were barely if even AC games in the first place
Damn, that’s crazy because assassin’s creed Russia is my favorite one out of the trilogy
Played and completed AC1, 2, Brotherhood and Revelations.
Three was Okay but I completely lost all interest when they introduced ship mechanics into a game series based on Assassination and stealth in Black Flag.
Origins was super fun and beautifully made
Origins was amazing. Best AC game since Brotherhood
Ahh… The most handsome assassin makes the top of the list. 😍
Let’s be honest here, any TRUE Assassin’s Creed fan knew AC2 would be at the top!
Ezio will always be one of my favourite protagonists I’ve ever played in gaming, and that is high praise considering the amount of games I’ve played since my childhood.
Ezio simply had a charm about him, with a gripping story that made you as the player, wanting to seek out revenge for the tragedy that unfolded in young Ezio’s life.
To this very day I play AC2, and still enjoy it, when Ubisoft USED to make great games instead instant cash grabs. Yes, graphically it is tired now, but nothing short of a remake wouldn’t solve. Yes I know about & play The Ezio Collection, but to see it reborn on modern consoles would be epic!
Rah-ton-hak-ay-ton
Black flag will always be my personal favorite and favorite game ever
The ‘really bad film’ he speaks of is much much better than any of his game rankings
You put Valhalla/Origins/Odyssey above Revelations & AC1? That's actually insane.
Proud Unity apologist
Assasin’s creed forever ❤❤
I always find it weird that people rank Unity so low. It has great stealth and combat and the assassination missions give you multiple options to stealthily assassinate the target... it is actually one of the few true assassin's creed games if you look at it. Yeah Black Flag is a great game, but it's a pirate game with minor assassin aspects, a factor noone talks about. Even the issues that people talk about are probably mostly resolved... i've played Unity on ps4 many years ago and transitioned to PC a couple years ago and never experienced any of the big issues that are mentioned here. Plus it has multiplayer, which in my opinion makes it a million times better... nothing better than doing complex stealth missions with ur friends on a rainy day.
That's just my opinion tho, different people have different experiences.
No matter how you feel about the games, all of us wanted to do parkour after our first Assassins Creed game
Nobody knew what parkour was then. It wasn't even a thing.
Unity is in my top 3:
AC Brotherhood (Peak Ezio)
AC Unity
AC3
I think it's extremely unfair to criticize Unity today for bugs that were present 10 years ago. It was the last mainline AC title that had any ambition while maintaining the pillars of Assassin's Creed.
Hard disagree on Unity. Did you guys actually play it or is this just a list based on public reception? Despite it’s rough technical state at launch owing to Ubi severely underestimating how much power the new gen of consoles would actually have, the game itself is really good and ahead of it’s time. And it is the distinction of being the only coop AC title. It’s looked back on extremely fondly these days by the community and is well up there in the list personally.
Unity has a case to be No. 1.
I've heard folks compare Aleppo to the likes of Debenham and Deal. Which is a bit harsh. Aleppo's alright. To quote one of my favourite comedians: "Nobody in Aleppo is off their tits before Pointless!"
When you doing a best street fighter games or even better characters you've mk
IMHO, lists like this are pretty pointless, but not because average critics' scores don't matter (in my opinion, they do), but because scores don't age well and, perhaps more importantly, they age _differently_ (like people 😢).
After Black Flag I didn’t like any game.
In Josh Tranks AWFUL Fantastic 4 movie, Dr. Doom was actually introduced sitting in a basement playing AC Syndicate. And if you pay attention to the screen he's really bad at it. Not sure if that particular product placement did Ubisoft any favours though.
I would put Ac 4 over Brotherhood. I agree with the rest of the list.
they could just make a movie on ezio
Unity was actually 1 of the better games outside of the glitches. Co-op missions. Customizable clothes. 1st one you could equip different weapons. And a solid story
Jack the Ripper DLC was the best part of Syndicate by far. Top DLCs all time
Syndicate #1
00:49: So Ace Attorney is incomplete.
Disregarding all the PSP, DS and Chronicles games, Liberation was the most garbage game I have played from the series. I beat it in 2 play sessions of around 4 hours but it felt like an eternity. I loved the persona mechanic but it was massively underused
Wow the disrespect on Valhalla was quite harsh, it is such a damn good game with a lot of content.
I was thinking the same thing. Some people really hate the newer games for some reason. I thought Valhalla was great and odyssey is one of the best action RPGs ever made. I do think my 2 favourites atr black flag and 2. But the newer games are great too
@@ReproBates I feel that if you love a good PRG and enjoy Assassins Creed lore then the trilogy of games are perfect
I adored both Valhalla and Odyssey. They are near-perfect RPGs to me! Black Flag is my fave AC game, but I will always love the newer games too.
@@ReproBates"for some reason" getting rid of almost everything worth of a AC game and making an RPG bloated with repetitive content and lousy scenes is a damn good reason to hate the RPG era of AC games.
@CYB3R2K as opposed to the old games which had terrible gameplay (black flag notwithstanding) and created a game with a great combat system
I didn't enjoy AC4 and Rogue at all, there was way too much island hopping and naval combat for my liking.
If i picked a top 3 it would be 1: Brotherhood, 2: AC2, 3: Odyssey. For me Brotherhood is the quintessential AC experience and improved on AC 2 in every way. Odysseys open world is the best I've seen so far, the depth of it was incredible I lost months of my life to that game 😂😂
Assassins creed 3/4.
AC3/4 was okay, but to me the cons are not what all the peasants complained about. I love the Mohican Native tribe, I love the British ,I love the fact that you start as Hatham, a freemason (In this game ''templar'' means freemason/illuminati) and I adore when AC shows the '' universal enemy'' that the propaganda of today wants you to see as the ''bad guys '' (British/Crusaders) as not actually so bad and perhaps the ''good guys'' from a different perspective. I loved that I could kill more Yanks in this game than the British ,although I wish your choices would reflect on what side you choose to ally with and not automatically end up working for the yanks.
If your actions had a more profound effect and you ended up supporting the British in the end, the game would be 100 times better. But I digress, this is not the worst part of the game for me.
''oh no... the world is in peril, all of humanity is in danger ....again ... '' World ending stakes does not equate to a good/suspenseful story.
I don't care 1 bit about the story outside of history/the animus, I just want the historical content. My favourite ACs are 1,Origins,2,Brotherhood and Unity. Revelations' setting of Constantinople was superb, but the half arsed npc design ( copy and paste potato face) really placed that game on the back burner for me.
Medieval, in cities that are policed by soldiers , guards and police forces , shows exactly why stealth and assassins were a reality/necessity. Those settings are superb. But to be in an open world with sprawling fields ,fighting against armies with rifles/muskets is what makes the game/setting dim-witted and non enjoyable to me.
There is no need for stealth when you fight mostly in fields and in reality, if you come up against a professional army of line infantry , you will be mowed down by a volley of musket fire within 10 seconds of an engagement.
That is why I don't care for this ASSASSINS creed.
AC 3 and Black flag doesn't feel one bit like assassins creed games...and that is not a bad thing.
These games are...maybe a bit like the Magic Tree House books???
I wish the modern day parts of AC games were skipable. I do not careeee just let me play the main game
I have to completely disagree with Assassin's Creed Rogue. It's one of the few AC games I ever finished on PC. I had an absolute blast with Rogue and never had a single bug or issue playing it. I enjoyed the story more than Unity and I thought the new stuff Rogue had was pretty darn good overall. That being said, my absolute favorite games are still Odyssey and Origins, then Rogue and Brotherhood and etc. So because my list of the best AC games is different than yours at TJ - I shall complain online like I am and pout and stamp my feet :D
That's probably because you can finish it in a day
@@kanglongshankz3313 What Rogue? I didn't finish it in a day, it took me over a week. I don't rush games as it is, and I'm old as dirt so I can't sit here for hours and hours anymore lol
I hate Desmond...
Just your friendly neighbourhood irritant requesting a rankem for ever weapon based racing video games.
Rules:
Need at least one weapon
Must do laps around a track in a racing format
The issue with a list like that is the massive, massive amount of shovelware Kart racers.
@@DJCube1701 surely it shouldn't be too big, especially if it's just restricted to consoles. And Shovelware Kart racers, yes there are plenty, but weapon based ones are sufficiently less. When you factor in racing elements, there can't be THAT many. These boys have don't videos in the 100s as far as rankems are concerned
Please do every X-men or Power Rangers game. Been asking for years now.
Odyssey is right too damn high it should be last or second to last
i always love these types of videos by triple jump they make my day every time
Nah yall put odyssey higher than origins and unity??
I need a bow and arrow
I really wish I liked the Assassin's Creed games more. They should be something I love, with all the open worlds and stealth action and history... but the modern-day Abstergo parts just ruin them for me. "Genetic memory?" Really? You had me at "assassin," why are you muddying the waters like this? The last thing I want in my cool historical assassin simulator is to be some regular dude getting strapped down to a table by Kristen Bell and ohhhh never mind I get it now.
I played a AC 2 two years ago and it was lame. Maybe it was great when it first came out but today, it’s doesn’t hold up.
Top 3 for me is Black Flag, Origins, Unity
Syndicate customization on the main characters sucked
We need Dragon Ball games ranked
Worst to best is my favorite thing you guys do, however this is probably the first list I have major disagreements with. Everyone concentrates on how Unity released, but ignore the game that it actually became once the bugs were worked out. Odyssey is way overrated and they made this huge world with nothing in it. Brotherhood is simply a better game than AC 2. Finally Rogue is the best AC game mechanically (although one of the worst story wise) I think the conventional wisdom of AC content creators and the AC reddit community is going to hate this list. It is still hella entertaining though
Can we ever get an all MMOs ranked worst to best?
Naaah. This list off for me. Unity is definitely better than Syndicate. Origins is the best in the ancient trilogy. AC 1 wasn’t that good of a game and the reviews at the time was spot on, people just have nostalgia glasses on with that. Lol. And no way in fuck is Brotherhood better than 4, that one is just criminal. But hey, this isn’t my list.
AC1 needs a remake though.
I love Rouge, not my 100% favouirte but if they'd had more time and been able to implement the other main city (Montreal if I remember correctly) it would be my number 1. I love that this game allows you to look at things from another perspective.
Assassin’s Creed 3 is the messiest, most boring game I’ve ever played and it is at 2/3 on the list. What a franchise 😅
bro mirage isnt that bad, yall just hating cause yall didnt play the game
Unity was a great game. Not the best story telling though
I don't understand why people don't like the modern day aspect of these games. Without it, the series loses a lot of its nuance and depth and kinda becomes a generic action game set in the past, as opposed to adding another interesting layer on top of the ancestor story. What's more, it's maybe the only thing that connects these games and makes them a coherent, unique experience.Furthermore, its the bloody identity of the series. You can't have Assassin's Creed without the Modern Day segments, like it was established in the first game. Moreover ,If you hate the Modern Day so much, either provide me with interesting arguments as to why it "sucks",because I would argue it creates some of the best story beats and gameplay variety in this series , or create an entirely new series, called " I Just Wanna Play As An Epic Viking and get the most Legendary Armor Sets ,after completing Epic Viking Raids" which is set in the past, so that AC can be Assassin's Creed and not Ass Ass Queef.
