There is great hiking in Senja, Norway. Hiking is popular there year round. The best time to visit norway is probably September or October. You'll get fall colors and mild temperatures.

Thank you!! This was so great! We’re going next month and have been having a hard time deciding about the nutshell. We only have 10 days so it’s tough trying to fit a bit of everything in. Did you do any fjord tours? There doesn’t seem to be many options in October.

Ya'lls videos are so informative, I hestitate to say this, but I lived in Norway for a year, and it's pronounced LOO-foo-ten. It's hard to drop American English, but the locals appreciate the correct sound. Thanks.

Excellent advice! Did you have any trouble driving in October? Road closures, snow, etc?
We didn't but it was very mild when we were there. Well, except in Tromso it was rainy! Driving was easier than other countries in the region.
I haven't gone to Tromsø or Norway at all, but it's in my bucket list. However, I can confirm to those who wish to see the northern lights someday that everything they've said about the northern lights is true. This past March, I went to Iceland for 8 days and 7 nights, and it was usually cloudy during day and night while I was there, so there was barely any visibility. However, one thing that I did learn from being there was that weather in the arctic can be quite unpredictable and was fortunate to have one of those seven nights with clear skies in Hafnarfjörður from a period of time and I drove somewhere where it was so dark and camped it out, waited for about an hour and a half and that's when I started to see some activity in the dark skies, the lights at first were so dim and scattered that it looked like clouds, but I already had an idea that it was precisely that, then the greenish colors started to emerge vividly and it was the most beautiful sight that I was blessed to see. It lasted for like 15-20 mins, then it came back again later on for like another 15-20 mins. If you're lucky enough, they may be out even longer from what I was told by Icelandic people. Just keep in mind, that seeing the northern lights is a bonus to your trip and that it is not necessarily guaranteed that you'll see them, it's only a matter of luck, and being at the right place at the right time.
I do highly recommend an app called Aurora which I downloaded on my iPhone, and the app itself can pinpoint you the best current locations to see the lights and you could keep an eye on the cloud coverage to have an idea of what time and where to be if it clears up to increase your odds, and that's how I was able to chase the northern lights on my own without having to book/pay for a northern lights tour to go for.
I was in Iceland mid November of last year and was so disappointed I didn't get to see the Northern Lights. It rained most nights....

We are reaching Bodo by flight, in march 1st week.
And then taking ferry to Moskenes
Stay there for 2 days
And then will take bus to tromso
Although I can see ferry and bus schedule for march, but is it feasible to do this route ? considering weather
And is public transport smooth during this time?
I'm thinking of going to Norway in December. I want to ring in the new year in either Denmark, Sweden, Norway or Finland. I would like to go to all 4 in December, but it sounds like it may cost a lot, so I may have to reduce my stay or drop one of the countries. I would love to know where would be the most affordable, but good place/hotel to stay. I maybe going solo, so I wouldn't do hostels or airb n b. Unless the airbnb is really safe, clean and decent. Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks for your video.
In December you've got a decent shot at seeing the Northern Lights if you are interested. You could look at Tromso or the Lofoten Islands.

Cheap place to rent cars in the north? And is it really ok to sleep in my car? I'd save accommodation cost! And would debit card be ok to use traveling?
You can just check the online sites, but Tromso is usually the cheapest city. Many people sleep in camper vans, so that is a possibility. We had no trouble with debit cards, in fact we used no cash the whole time we were there.

Norway doesn't have the monopoly of Northern Lights. If that's what you're only after, visit Fairbanks, Alaska mostly + NWT , Canada & some parts, some parts in US gets a big storm too. And these places are cheaper in comparison.
