My brother went in the Navy and a year later after HS I joined. After graduating OS A school, I lucked up and got orders to the USS Nimitz CVN 68 the ship my brother was stationed on. We both worked in OP'S DEPT. me OI DIV brother OE DIV.

I think you should stay in for 20 but if you decide to become a civilian again keep that discipline,work ethic, paying attention to detail,and being organized, you learned in the navy you'll be successful at everything you do as a civilian no one will ever be able to break you I'm telling you this from experience
Because I served in the navy as a civilian i got hired at the long beach naval shipyard after that I took my DD214 to the coast guard they gave me a us merchant mariner credentials I used that to sail on civilian merchant marine ships 14 years I retired my union book with the SIU Union now I'm working as a west coast longshoreman. It all started from the navy. This is just an example of what you can do after the navy
may i ask why staying in for 20 is better than the average 4 year contract ? i’m planning on going in 2021. i see people have different opinions on the navy so i just wanted to ask.
@@bre9111 You would be eligible for a pension after 20 years of active duty. Most people would be at pay grade E-7 by then and would get $2500 every month for the rest of their lives.

I'm ex navy 1979 - 1982 USS Guam LPH-9 Norfolk Virginia did Two deployments north Atlantic and Mediterranean I was also in gitmo Cuba two months. I'm proud of you and your navy career I love watching your videos bring back so many great memories
I had wanted to join the Navy, but unfortunately based on my score I got low rate jobs such as ABF, ABH, ABE, MM, AO, BM, PR. I was only fine with pr, but my rates that I qualified for it doesn't allowed me to join, cause I don't feel comfortable with them. I took the asvab again and scored lower, and was then told I can't retake the exam again, cause I scored lower in my second attempt, I'm banned from taking it in 3 years, the only way I could get in is with the job rates they offered me, but I'm going to have to pass

Thanks for posting this video. It was enlightening and offered some insights into some of the daily experiences on a ship while deployed. As a civilian I would have never thought about movie night, steel picnic (this is probably not accurate) but the idea of having picnics on a ship with all of those actives while on deployment. I also enjoyed the way you educated me about the different kinds of ships and regions that they are responsible for etc. I took note of the book that you showed and wrote it down I like material like that. Do you plan to make the Navy a life time career? Also, can you elaborate on the psychological process you go through when you return home. I will keep looking out for your videos. I realize that this is one of your older videos.

Also he can take extra pillows and his own sheets ? I'm just getting prepared for when the time comes prolly next year in 2021. I know we just started 2020 but time fly's by. So if I stay now I can have him ready. HE is just turning 18. Can I buy the little baskets now or would it be better for him to order them from Amazon when he is on the ship.? (To help keep stuff organized). I'm sure I'll have more questions. Eeek the water that's gross he is a lucky water drinker. If it's not a certain brand he won't drink it. I stumbled upon this video in my feed and I can't help but say how cute you are. I guess cause I've viewed several other Navy videos. I was in the Navy back in 1987-1991 straight from high school. You are right the Navy is definitely expanding cause Men and Women weren't even on ships together when I was in. I was in a squadron attached to the aircraft carrier USS Eisenhower and did 2 Mediterranean deployments in 4 years!! There was no social media or cell phones so...you guys have it a lot better than we did!
Bruh I was a Corpsman with the Marines, we had those crappy canvas racks and one locker that was maybe a square foot in space. One of my deployments on a gator freighter was the first deployment with females, we had like 5 in the ship and they were all officers.

my rate doesn’t go on ships, i’ve always been curious on how deployments work! i’m in 10th fleet (US Cyber Command) and never really knew what that meant. not exactly the same as one that would travel but gave me more insight. thanks for informative video!

In conclusion when you get out of the navy take your DD214 And your transcripts of sea service to the U.S. coast guard office they will give you a merchant marine credentials. There's lots of opportunities for you there also

A recruiter can tell you what jobs there are in the navy that you'd qualify for once you complete the asvab. Google navy bootcamp jobs. Other recent recruits have made tons of videos.

Wanted to join, but unfortunately I'm banned from taking the asvab again since I scored lower in 2nd try. If I would have scored higher in my 2nd try they would have allowed me to retest, I'm banned for the next like 3 years until they switch management/supervisor. I could still enlist with the rates they offered me based on my score, but I don't feel comfortable with those rates they are aviation jobs.

Yes you terminate your lease and move out . If you bought a car your still obligated to make the payment . If you leased a car you can break the lease
