- Solasta: Palace of Ice DLC Hands-On Preview Impressions - Just this week, I had the opportunity to sit down and play with Tactical Adventures while discussing their biggest DLC to date, Palace of Ice. Palace of Ice comes almost 2 years after Solasta: Crown of the Magister was released with a level cap increase from 12 (if you’ve played Lost Valley) to 16, new monsters to fight, and unique Spells to try out. So in this Solasta: Palace of Ice Hands-on Preview Impressions, I’ll be talking about these changes and how they’ll affect the way you play the game, as well as give my thoughts on how much Solasta has changed years after its launch. If you’re interested to get a glimpse of what this huge DLC has to offer, then this article is for you!

Solasta keeps getting better. Love to see a studio give long-term support to their game like this, while listening to their community. Keep it up!
Buying 100%. Been waiting for this for months and very excited to see what the community makes for maps. Totally underappreciated game, best I've played in years!
MAN this dev team is amazing.
I have recommended Solasta to many since launch; one of the most intuitive Turn Based systems I have seen in a title, and adore the 3D possibilities. And I have not had many issues with character models and VO as others, as I recall playing D&D w/ coins and paper figures. But the storytelling of the games could be better, esp in Lost Valley DLC, imo. An exciting game should never be spoiled because of the result of a Saving Throw; whether good or bad. But as this can also reflect a PnP experience, Solasta remains a less known gem for me to share with others. Looking forward to PoI.
Going to grab this the day it drops. Just played Solasta for the first time about a week or so ago. Pretty impressive game. Yeah, the character models kinda remind me of mid-2000s BioWare games, and I wish the level cap was 20 instead of 16 but those are minor quibbles. This game deserves more love and recognition
If they cleaned up the character models/faces and voices, this game would be 10/10. Still easily one of the top rpgs out there
Thank you, Tactical Adventures!
First run I am going for a set of new characters to let them patch out any potential problems with importing saves before I give that a go. I am also going to go for a powerhouse party to make sure I am ready for everything for everything the game throws my way. Shadow Tamer Ranger, Motherland Paladin, Balance Druid and Court Mage+Sellsword Wizard. Once the kinks in save importing is sorted out, it's time to run a full CotM+PoI campaign.
That custom campaign editor looks killer.
Thanks for all the info. It looks fantastic. Can't wait to play in this new world.
It's May, I want my God damn DLC Tactical Adventures. No, I kid, this looks great, can't wait to play it.
Worried about bugs but still excited to buy this DLC on release
Direct buy when available...love Solasta game..:)
This looks fun. really enjoyed the game so far. can't wait for their next game
Great video, thanks!
Yeah my Temple of Evil characters are all 12 with good equipment
i re-installed the game on my pc ready for it.
Honestly, I love how jank the faces and voices are. Sometimes they just culminate into a moment that makes us burst out laughing.
"wE maDe IT bAD aS A jOkE"
loved!
Awesome
I just need the game to function without crashing and I'm a happy man
have you tried punching your pc?
Incredible game.
I think the voice acting is quite good over all, even if the faces are still stiff
Thank you for the info.
I personally didn't love Solasta, but I gotta say, the dev team has impressed me again and again. I never thought we'd get multiplayer, never thought we'd get multiple DLC campaigns, they've really gone above and beyond. Really the only complaint I've got is that they released an editor (the Dungeon Maker) and, like every other editor of the last 20 years, it has disappointed me. The game has a built-in character creator but we can't use that to make custom NPC appearances? We aren't even able to SEE what abilities and spells NPCs have, let alone edit them in any way. Still, credit where it's due, I never expected to get an editor in the first place. I just wish it was better.
There are tons of MODs out there for the game, check around and you'll probably find enough tools to make your perfect dungeons. I've seen some incredible custom campaigns.
Is this coming to Xbox?
Yes, same day release.
And I still haven’t beat the damn thing

I always get excited when I see that thumbnail style when scrolling and then I remember not every video is an Eldin Ring build...
Woh, that was an exclusive access Fex. To be followed May 25, 2023.
The ugly character models are the only bad thing in Solasta.
The voice acting is bad and there were performance issues in the main game but overall it’s quite impressive.
I was playing the other and it was fine but the lack of story and the slow of the combat make me stop at the Dark castle. Maybe with this update i will continue with it.
I would have absolutely loved if it was available now.. but releasing that close to diablo 4 i sadly most likly wont be touching this for a good while
That's an interesting take on it and one I didn't think of. I'll be playing this first and enjoying D4 after. Plus, with all previous crap that Blizzard/Activision has been doing, I am not so eager to give them money. I'm happy to wait and see how the community receives it.
@@michaelengelby732 Blizzard has lost its soul. I can't believe how totally unexcited I am for D4..... while at the time I cant wait for PoI to drop.
Wow never even heard of this game
It's a great game and it's been on gamepass for a long time..basicly D&D the game.. complete with dice rolls
The user-made content extends the life of the game so much as well.
@@De1usionsofGrandeur I don’t have time to watch the whole video but I won’t want to forget to come back and check this out- is it like divinity? I loved divinity original sin 2, I just played it for the first time recently
@@CenturianEagle yes it is all 4 player co op turn based closely following d&d rulesets.. give it a try on gamepass is your interested then you can decide if you want to buy or not later
@@CenturianEagle If you liked DOS then give BG3 a try. Same company. I like both games a lot. BG3 for the visual pleasure and Forgotten Realms lore. I like Solasta for the close to true 5e play. Takes me back to PnP.
I liked this game at first. But after 23 rolls under 8 in a row...i quit it.
lol
Lost Valley DLC was pretty awful because it was just a series of tasks given to you with very little narrative connection between them. I'm hoping this is not like that and more like the base game.
So close to BD3 im skipping this.
I prefer this one to BG3.
Really fun to play with friends in your living room, just passing the keyboard and the mouse along
Both are good. I like that this is basically D&D copy and pasted into a game. And I enjoy the things you can do in BG3. Though with the release so close I'll probably play this AFTER BG3😂
The competition in this gaming genre is good and needs to be encouraged. Larian Studios is amazing and BG3 will likely be the same. But I love me some Solasta and have been playing it more often than previous Larian Studio's games. With the improvements and additions to the Dungeon Maker, this game will have very long legs. I'm anxious to see what the more dedicated community comes out with!
i'm get BG3: once they raise the level cap to 16, lower the price, wotc/hasbro apologies and they fix all the 'liberties' they took with rules
@@nymeowi829 you are going to spend over three months doing nothing?
the dialogues are really horrible, I was hoping they'd address that, it's the worst part of this good game
Wow 16 levels? LOL what a mook game.
