- A short KSP tutorial how to plan and execute a Mun landing. Some people play Kerbal Space Program for quite some time and still haven't managed to do this. I am hoping this video is going to help!
The entire mission took less than 20 minutes in total (building process not included. So, fairly easy indeed :)

Your explanation of returning from the mun isn't quite right, it's not about whether you burn prograde on the inside or outside of the orbit, but rather the direction relative to the mun's prograde. So if your inclination were 180 deg you would burn on the outside of the orbit.
You're absolutely right. I spoke under the assumption that the vehicle is in a prograde equatorial orbit. Should have made this clearer. Thanks for the clarification!
Aka I need a lesson on rocket science

Normal people: *builds 20 foot tall rocket and gets to mars*
Me: *Builds a 500ft rocket that only gets to low orbit*
Low orbit? Dude i can't get out of the fuckin planet
fartpluswetone same I make huge orbits but can’t seem to get to the mun
@@drinkyourwater1039 It's maybe better that way, I made a rocket and had no idea when to incline, or even where to see your incline, so I just flew straight up with a huge rocket. Poor Kerbal astronaut. He's now orbiting around the Sun with no hopes of ever coming back home
@@tcg1_qc Well, if you're curious and have considerable experience with rendevouz, then Matt Lowne has a deep space rescue video which you could take material off of.
@@fartpluswetone8077 I can't even play the game anymore, I played it on free weekend... Gonna wait until it is on sale and I'll get it
I' ve landed on Tylo, I've scaped from Eve's surface, I've even gone to Dres once
But Im watching this video because Shadowzone is the best
+Christian La Banca aww, thanks :)
15 still trying to get my orbit right so i can get to moon lol
Weird flex but ok
Christian La Banca wow!!!
I can’t even exit the earths orbit. Cause my burn time is frozen like fuckkk
It's funny that as a Noob it's easier to get to the sun than it is to get to another planet lol
yeah, it's way too easy to orbit sun than other planets, or moons.
Nick Lamgamer yep just been the opposite way you would usually go and just wait
duna is so easy to land on than the mun because well parachutes
That’s if your rocket has enough Dv..
Or use cheats that works too
Tropical Viking it's easier for me to get into orbit around the Sun than it is for me to land on the Mun
"made easy" speeds through whole rocket building part
And every other part as well...
@@Capade why?
@@ThatOneWeirdChannell because its an explanation of what you need and how to get there not heres a step by step copy this
I mean if you want to complete this sort of task you should at least know what your building first

I've been playing this game since like the old ksc days (for those of you who kno wat I'm taking about, your awesome). Glad to see that there are still ppl picking up the game! Very steep learning curve but CZcams tutorials are amazing

I did not pick it up, I used torrents, it’s just a waste of money to buy single player games
ksc? you mean ksp?
Lol, return missions.
Real men just hire more kerbonauts and make "munbases".
lol
I just dump them into space and let them die
I hope jebadiah brought snacks, cuz he’s going to be there for a loooong time.
Jeb slammed into the moon and died for me
Pov: USSR
One suggestion, is there are SUPER UBER neewbs, please describe the parts and where as well. You are flicking through some parts too fast for some people to see, and you need CZcams slow motion mode to even see the part name blur out.
One part jumps (due to editing ?) and you magically have fins, and boosters have aerodynamic hoods on. Maybe a bit of explanation on how to do the fairing, I figured it out but some may not.
Slow down your hypersonic mouse clicks and just add in a few vocal explanations .
@Tyler Riddell perhaps not
@Tyler Riddell or he could just make a proper tutorial and slow down...

dude he has no clue what he is doing in this video . he's using multiple mods for numbers and landing and trying to sounds smart while telling you what the mod UI is telling him and he still gets it wrong that should tell you everything you need to know about this moron right there . so my advise to you would be find another video only thing this video is good for is what not to do
Instruction un-clear, kerbal stuck in toaster
Patrylec Kuldan lmao
lmao
instructions unclear, kerbal placed on top of parachute during launch
Instructions unclear, Jeb, Bob and Val stranded on the Mun
Instructions unclear, started a Jool surface base.
When I started ksp, I was completely lost, but your videos were my key to knowing how to make something that might work on my first try
It’s a tutorial and you put a time lapse on building the rocket???
ikr
You went to fast I have no idea what or why you are doing anything
Just pause the video every few seconds
You dont copy his rocket, you build it your own.
@@thathondacivicat3am665 when he doesn't explain why hes doing anything its pretty hard to build your own
@@miniwidget6407 he does, he gives you things to follow when your building your own, for ex he said keep your delta V above 1

8:36 and right there is where you write off your mission. Re-contact with a descent stage would be a bad, bad day in any realistic scenario.
Thank you I just got this game and I came from simple rockets so I have a lot to learn because this game is much more complicated and this tutorial helps a lot
Here's an idea: you could install Mk. 1 headlights between the lander legs so that you can light up the surface beneath you. Yes, you should land on the bright side of Mun to see what's going on underneath - but what if you miss or don't have enough fuel to land there and return to Kerbin? Which reminds me, even if you don't carry headlights, you should still install solar panels and batteries.
- additionally, reduce spring strength and increase dampener of your lander legs to prevent bouncing.
I say Mk. 1 headlights instead of Mk. 2 because Mk. 1 is way more powerful. It may drain the battery faster, but it beats destroying yourself. If you're that concerned about saving power, then only use them in the Mun landing phase.
I try to warp till the mun is in the sky, then go directly to the mun
Result:
Fail
Well, the mün DOES move.
i did that to
Well if you go into orbit then warp until you see the moon you can actually do it
Ah the good ol noob days...
I literally got in orbit after 3 days of trying and I cheered like it was real
Took my first ssto to the mun today !
I'm so glad
Congratulations!
ShadowZone Thanks ! :)
Omg, you are awesome. I just learned how to use the Kerbal engineer and I managed to make a rocket that is based on the Kerbal engineer. Thank you man. Insta - sub.
Nice tutorial! I can now visit both Mun and Minmus with ease!
Amusingly, i managed to land without a tutorial video.
It WAS a crash landing, but the lander can and its thruster survived! Lost a landing leg though...
Pretty sure i cant get home either...
i used to not know how to get to orbit so i got over it and learned hardcor mode but you were a huge help to me learning munover nodes
At last someone who takes care of acceleration! Loved it! :D
Is it just me I hate yet love his voice
That's my Mun tutorial. Any other stuff you would like to see or know that I might be able to show you?
Duna?
How to make plane-like atmolifts/SSTOs to carry payloads larger and wider than any MK3 cargobays allow you to. I know it's very specific, but, seriously, I've tried everything...
Basic ship to duna and eve
+Randaru HappyHeists have you tried Mark Thrimm's channel? He has done a few large payload SSTO planes, one can even lift a few hundred tons into orbit.
Well, from what I've seen, most channels just lift carrot tanks into orbit and call it a day, or build a craft with a lot of crew modules to send X kerbals as far as possible. But I don't think this is the limit, and my monstrous payloads keep exploding or flipping the craft no matter where I stick them on my SSTO plane.
Thanks for the video...I still learn things from your video's...weather they are big or small, learning is learning.
Not to mention.....AGAIN!.....lol...love it...always looking forward to it, even thou it's probably frustrating to you, I laugh with you :)
Hope you have a great day & be safe.
Hello his video is sooo cool I keep rewatching it
Nice and simple set up
this helped me so much
Thanks, great tutorial :)
I have 1100ish hours and just started to make a station I haven't gotten off the mun yet
I have 653, landed on every body but eeloo
1500, landed and taken off of eveyrthing except jool and the sun. Moved onto RSS, recently went to mars, and Venus, built a 90 ton space station, in a 30 degree inclination. Doing well :D
Less than 1000 with all bodies, no exception, all done in one capsule (in each missions) last time eve with 756 parts rocket (now upgraded)
One capsule means no docking or rendezvous
Why do I not care....
3:34 that moment would have made a great wallpaper
very nice tutorial ty i did it !
Thank you I finally did it :)!
thanks! this was really helpful!
I never knew about right-clicking on map info! Thanks!
when you were building, you were building way too fast and i couldn't figure out what modules you were using :/
Ksp made easy: Proceeds to speed up the rocket building part so much that people cant tell what to do.
You saved my day
What texture pack are you using? specifically for the airstream protective shell?
The best tutorial
Why am I watching this? I have 2000 hours..
Same here :D
rajesh koothrappali 2000 hours of failure ??? (you are not going to spend almost a year of 6 hours playing just to go to mun)
AGAIN!
That's why...lol
I know, right!! Lol
"AGAIN!" is worth it every time. XD
And it awakes the most reliable memories like "check your clipping" or Jeb is on a solar orbit... "AGAIN!"...XD
And last F5 was on day 5 of 20....
@ShadowZone your voice alone is worth it to look in ;-)
Do you have a version without timelapses on the building of the rocket? I'ts really hard to see what you have been building otherwise.
THATS WHAT IM SAYING
Lol I have just got the game and still learning and getting into space is a treat for me
you go FREAKEN FAST! cant barley keep up
why did you speed up the video i couldnt even follow what you were doing...
B. Hill, Jr. ikr smh
used what you said and it was really useful. I did tip over and it blew up. Luckily it was a probe and not Jebediah, and I should have transmitted some data back. I think that enough for tonight's play session.
thanks to you I made it to the moon and back :D
Thank you ! :D
I’m trying to do the “To the Mun, part II” tutorial, but when I get to landing, the target on the gymbal stays bugged out the whole time.
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I just managed to land on the moon and come back.
you make it look so easy
It really isnt hard
It worked!!
bruh "line it up and blast prograde" great advice lol you're helpful
"KSP made easy": second shot is of an enormous, high difficulty build of a Saturn-V rocket with a massive launch tower and impressive detail. Amazing, man
I tried to do this, messed up on the maneuveres then somehow made it so i accidently crashed into the moons orbit so it worked out for me.
I can’t seem to find the TR 18a stack decoupled your using in sandbox mode
Thank you
How do you get that little ui that shows you the delta v and everything else?
When approaching the mun's surface, what's the control for reducing velocity?
thank u soooooo muchhh
Is it necessary to circularize before landing on the mun? Wouldn't you save more fuel by de-orbiting before periapsis, and using that as your landing area?
Lymark Wong no no youll reach the moon too quickly
YOUR. VOICE. SOUNDS. AMAZING.
Thanks alot, without u i wouldnt have been abke to save jebadia from the mun
Intructions unclear, rocket orbited the sun and became a new planet
My tutorial on how to land on the Mun:
Watch this tutorial.
seems legit
Thank you biko, very cool.
Not exaclty considering this is the worst tutorial unless you know how to do everything in it so pointless then
Uno ly need four words to land on the mun. Mun, land, and don’t explode.
Still love these videos....
Why do you need to get in orbit around kerbin? I just go straight up and then tilt slightly to 90 and keep going until I get an encounter.
J Anything yep i do the same . I only Orbit when its necessary to get an encounter
I tried this but then I ran out of fuel so I sent Jeb outside....
long story short he's orbiting the Sun as a new planet
Ok so I followed the tutorial and ran out of gas on the way back. I used Jeb to push the ship a little bit so we landed back on Kerbin. Is this a common strategy?
I wish there was a video tutorial that can properly explain how to build a rocket as good as they can explain how to get to the mun but this was still a good video thanks.
very good tutorial for new players! I've bee playing for years but love seeing a good new player tutorial.
30,000 subs!!
My first successful mission to Mun and back looked almost identical to this one, only I used the biggest launcher stage... my Mun lander/ascender was like a little pimple on the nose xD
This is the easy way? right! lol good job man
Whenever i just want to go to the atmosphere and come back I always forget a parachute.
Thanks
Can you design a stock Saturn C-8? Nice tutorial btw
How do you go up or down in space?
Where's my shitty computer fams at??!

Is that the Blade and Sorcery Nomad music?
1:35 how can i see the thrust to weight ratio? is this a mod or is it available in vanilla ksp?
Its a mod (Kerbal engineer)
Eh im playing on Xbox so i dont really know how to download mods like engineering redux or is it even a mod tell me how or tell me if i even can thank you!
Weekend Gaming I play on Xbox too and it’s kinda hard to do complicated things at first, but f you watch a lot of tutorials you can do anything a pc player could do. You can’t download mods tho
@@elij.muller7519 I can't seem to find any good tutorials. I play on Xbox too, and I know nothing about the game. I found a tutorial on how to get to the Mun by Matt Lowne, but he did it in Science mode, and I'm doing it in Career mode, so that was useless.
Are you using any mods? or how did you get the clouds? and if then which ones?
I'm using Environmental Visual Enhancements and Scatterer. Also "Engine Light" for ambient lighting from the engines exhaust.
Umm quick question umm I'm confused about manuevure node can you help me with it I did exactly but it does not do it same height and rocket
Nice tutorial! Question: What version of ksp are you using? Thanks!
Maple Kerman this video was done in KSP 1.3.1
Oh, okay... wait, how can you have KER in 1.3.1?! I've tried over and over and it never works for me!
Anyways, thanks!
Maple Kerman if you have it on seam select ksp go to properties then it should give you a few options one of which should be betas, go on that then it should show a grey box, click on that and select 1.31
How do you make it to where you dont have to Right-Click things to rectract them, extend them, etc.? I can never figure out how do do that. I mean like what you did at 5:41 with the Landing Gear.
I don't know about any buttons on keyboards, but this green button right from attidute "toggle Gear activation group"
@@pancytryna9378 Oh okay thank you!

How do you have more fuel than usual?
Mine Ship Wouldn't even Get off the Ground...😂😂
The music here is in blade and sorcery
Me in 2023 watching my Green buddies explode after floating aimlessly in orbit
you used manuever nodes Great! and doing fine-tune periapsis!
I know this is old but I'm medicated after surgery and your voice scared the shit out of me at the beginning lol
I hope my weird voice doesn't slow down your recovery process.
Get well soon!
@@ShadowZone weird? No.. Epic? Most definitely lol.
are you using career mode or sandbox mode or science mode ?
At 3:32, when the booster engines are decoupled, I don't understand how the swivel engine is now full on fuel again. Is it something to do with the mod? Something changed with the way fuel works? When I tried this, I ran out of fuel way before I got into orbit but you seem to have plenty
It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure I used the fuel lines to feed propellant into the center stack. This reduces the burn time of the side boosters but raises overall efficiency.
@@ShadowZone I don't see why that would fill the engine again bit thanks I'll try that
I have a tactic to land anywhere and not worry about anything...
I call it overkill.
Yup, having to much is always better then having to little...
Like having a 1000 ton suttle to land on the mun, hehehe
What mods do you use?
