This is one of the best Bobo Hydrangeas display that I've seen in recent years on CZcams!!!
Thank you, we loved how it turned out.
Bobo is the name of our beloved Boston Terrier who passed away last spring. We buried him in our beautiful garden near Seattle and planted a BOBO Hydrangea in his memory. I still cry when I think of him: he was such a kind and loyal dog.... Looking forward to blooming Bobo Plant :)))
What a sweet story, good pets are hard to replace. Rest in peace sweet Bobo.
WOW those blooms are awesome!
I wish I could stop time and keep them just like this! They are awesome! Thank you for watching!
Absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous a must have. WOW😳😳❤️❤️
It is my favorite hydrangea! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Perfect combo! Love love love ❤
Thank you! 🤗
What a beautiful flower show❤️
Thanks for visiting
Thanks for spotlighting this shrub. I like to see how mature plants look and perform and how big they actually get. Your Bobo's 4ft size is incredible. I have had mine for a few years and it has struggled to get past the 2dt size. Lovely flower beds and color combinations.
Thank you, They may get more size with time.
Stunning!
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful! I have a couple of these and they do great.
Yes they do
Wow they are so beautiful 😍. For sure now I’m getting this Bobo hydrangea 😍.
Good choice!
I’m obsessed with panicle hydrangeas now! Fall 2021 I planted 6 Bobo’s (along with 4 Strawberry sundae) in my front yard. I redid the East side corner up against the house and planted Bobo’s around a PeeGee standard. Then made a row of them in front yard where partial sun is. I’m so excited to see how they all turn out this spring. Don’t worry, I enjoy watering my plants. Cannot wait. Thank you for the video. 😍
Your welcome. Hydrangeas are such a fun shrub!
Thanks for this video. I just bought two Proven Winner bobo hydrangeas from Home Depot.
enjoy them!
Those are amazing 😀😀
They are amazing, There are not many plants i plant multiples of, but man i have a ton of these.
AMEI ESTE VÍDEO,I LOVE HYDRANGEA,PETÚNIA, E OUTRAS,GRATIDÃO ,DEUS ABENÇOE.(BRASIL).
"I LOVED THIS VIDEO, I LOVE HYDRANGEA, PETUNIA, AND OTHERS, GRATITUDE, GOD BLESS"
Thank you for watching.
I saw these on your home tour videos last season and put it on my list of 'I wants' and I got them! They are indeed fabulous. I am now on the hunt for the Tuff Stuff Ah-Ha, wish me luck in finding it!
I'll make it easy for you. Here is a link: www.gardencrossings.com/product/hydrangea-tuff-stuff-ah-ha-hydrangea-big-leaf-mountain/
@@gardencrossings Thanks for the link Heidi but you don't ship to ON, CA do you?
That Verbena 'Meteor Shower/s' is amazing.
Yes it is!!!
So beautiful! I bought one this spring because I loved the ones in your garden at your home. Mine started out ok but the leaves ended up getting some rust brown spots on them and started falling off. I finally cut off the worst branches and removed many of the bad leaves. It does look like it is pushing out some new growth. I hope it rebounds. Any thoughts as to what may have happened to it? I used BioTone when I planted it and It does get watered daily. I’m wondering if it has some kind of fungus or something. Thanks.
I really have not noticed fungus to be a problem on this plant, but anything is possible.
So beautiful!! I’m also in zone 5, but in Northwest Illinois. How far should they be planted if I wanted to create a hedge of them? Also, I’m thinking of moving mine as they are in shade and have very few blooms. I would be moving them probably in late September or early October. Should I add fertilizer to the planting hole?
If you get them in the sun you will certainly get more blooms and the plant will be happier. I would plant every 3-4 feet to create a hedge. Personally i would wait to fertilize until the spring with a slow release fertilizer.
I have several bobos in my gardens and I just love them. You mentioned when to prune but Can you tell me when you prune them how far back do you cut them? Thank you 😊
I would recommend taking the top 1/3 off of you would like. This does not need to be done, but I do it to shape and remove the spent blooms
Just bought a Bobo today!
You wont be disappointed!
What fertilizer that you are using on them
I bought 1 and give it a try.. hope it grow well in the heat of Texas….
Make sure to keep it well watered
These are stunning! I'm working with a smaller/more narrow space along our fence line (32' x 5'), but I dream of having a tall/thick beautiful wall of hydrangeas lining it. Our space is part shade, so our hydrangea options are limited. Have you ever planted bobo hydrangeas at varying heights to give them more of a grand appearance? Do you think planting them in a tiered raised garden bed along the fence would work? If so, what spacing would you recommend between plants and between tiers? And what width/depth would be needed for each tier of the raised bed? Appreciate your input - Thank you!!
That would be a neat look. What i would recommend that may not be as much work would be to plant various Hydrangeas of different heights. If you do not want to have to create tiered beds just create a planting space that is approx. 20' deep and however long. You could use 6-8' hydrangeas in the back, 3-4' middle ground and 2' in the front row. I would stagger panicle and smooth hydrangeas. www.gardencrossings.com/product-category/shrubs/hydrangea-hardy/ www.gardencrossings.com/product-category/shrubs/hydrangea-smooth/
Thanks they are outstanding; how long have they been in that location? About how much water each day do they get? Beautiful!
They are about 7 years old. They are on a drip system every day.
Hi Heidi! What fertilizer do recommend for the Bobo? Thanks so much for the video!

Beautiful hydrangeas, how we can propagate this kind of hydrangeas?.
Thanks.
These are patented and can't be propagated legally.
Great video. What are the other plants planted in those beds?
Verbena Meteor Showers. Supertunia mini Vista Hot Pink, Mini Visa Sangia
Sorry Heidi…you answered my question about the plants below at the end of your video.
No problem.
Hi thank you for all your videos.
I have a very small garden, would like to put in one or two hydrangeas, I'm in Zone 7 Philadelphia I would like to put it at the front of my house which gets sun from 11:30 -7:30 or the side of my home from 9:30 -7 in the summer.
Would the bobo or little lime hydrangea work and can I plant it this fall.
Thanks for all your help.
I would recommend the Bobo. It is just a perfect size plant. Little Lime is nice but maybe a bit big for the front of a house.
Beautiful! This spring I planted 5 PW Zinfin Doll hydrangea’s. I liked the size and color plus they had good reviews. Do you (or any of your viewers) have any experience with them? I’ve been babying them along all summer, they’re alive, but not really thriving. Full sun until mid afternoon then shade. Zone 5.
Yes. I also have a Zinfin Doll. They have the same growth conditions as the Bobo. If you would like to send me a picture of your plants I can try to help figure out what may be going on.
@@gardencrossings That is so kind of you! We’re having some pretty hot temps right now and that’s not helping so if they don’t perk up next week (cooler temps expected) I might take you up on your offer. When I got them from PW they were already blooming; as much as I hate to, I think maybe I should snip the blooms off because they seem too heavy for the stems at this point. Thank you again for offering your assistance.
Can these hydrangeas be trimmed in the summer as well? If you have some weaker branches/thinning out to encourage stronger stems to grow?
Yes you can do that.
HELLO
You have beautiful amazing flowers
Please can you tell me how reproduce more bobo hydrangea
Appreciate you answer
Thanks
They are a patented plant and propagation is prohibited.
Beautiful! Is there 1 plant in each section or 2? Also, you said you fertilize them monthly. What do u feed them? TYIA
There are 3 plants in each section. We use a water soluble fertilizer for the annuals
I'm very interested in accent Perrenials that go with the BOBO HYDRANGEA PLEASE ? I do not use annuals .
You Splash pf colors is nreathtaking 🌬 🦋
Ground cover dianthus, echinacea, tall phlox, to name a few. The space you have available and the height of the plants you are looking for can add many more variables.
Man super jealous…..I must be doing something wrong… mine have never looked like this! Chlorisis for years, trying chelated iron this year and leaves look better. But my flowers always brown out too!
I am wondering if you are getting enough water to the plant. I would recommend deep watering every day in the heat.
I just love your videos!!! Thank you for sharing. Did I miss the age of the Bobo's? How long did it take the Bobo's to get this big?
I believe these are around 8 years old.
@@gardencrossings Absolutely Beautiful !!!
Your Bobos are amazing! I’m so jealous. I have three in our front beds in Ohio (zone 6) and we had a landscaper put them in last year. Mid summer the leaves turned yellow and many dropped off the plant. Did I overwater or underwater?? Our soil is more clay like. Also, the blooms turned brown very early. Do you know what I did wrong?? Thank you for sharing your vid!
I am guessing you may not have enough water with the leaves turning brown and the flowers also browning up early.
Thank you for getting back to me!
Always love your videos. The Bobos look great! I know you said fertilizer once a month. What type of fertilizer are you guys putting down once a month and is that only for those Bobos at the front or do you do that in your home garden as well. Thanks
The fertilizer is more for the annuals in this bed. We use the Proven Winners Water Soluble fertilizer. But it also helps the Bobo. In your landscape i would use a granular in the spring and that should be good.
Great video! Yours are amazing! Mine have never gone pink. They stay white for a long time then eventually turn brown. I fertizlize once a month and water generously every other day. Do I have a different type? Or am I missing something? Also is it okay to snip off browning flowers? Not very attractive. Or is it best to leave till pruning time?
You ay have a different variety if they don't go pink. It sounds like you are watering enough for them to do that. Sometimes if people don't water well they go from white to brown. You can snip the flowers off at any point. I will sometimes leave mine on for winter interest with the snow.
I know this is 9 months old, but if you live in the south, that may be why you aren’t getting pink on your panicles. It is common to not get a turn of pink down here due to the warm and humid nights not cooling down enough. The firelight line is said to pink up, but not as deeply in the south as in other areas.
@@ahe79I live in Ontario. Last fall 1st time they turned pink. Guess I should delete question. Thanks for your response.
Can you tell me what the low pink flower is that you planted with the Bono’s?
Glad you like it.
I know you said they are on drip. How much water do they get?
The drip goes off daily. I am not sure how much water gets put down each day. Enough to moisten the soil
Hi: Always enjoy watching your videos. I have several Bobo hydrangeas and they are good performers in our zone 5a (KS). I only feed them once in early spring (Espoma Rose Tone). Did I hear in the video that you feed yours once a month? Would you confirm that and what do you use? Thank you
Yes, it it water soluble or plant tone fertilizer
You can use either Rose-tone or you can use a water soluble fertilizer (we recommend Proven Winners). These Bobo's get water soluble because at the greenhouse we are on a drip system. At home they get Rose-tone. I hope this helps!
@@gardencrossings thanks. Do you do all panicle hydrangeas?
@@gardencrossings yes thank you. Keep the helpful videos coming!
Hello 🤗 I'm also zone 5 .do you trim in the fall or in the spring?
How do I keep the deer off! Deer demolish mine everytime I try with pinnacles.
You could use products like Plant Skyyd, Bobbix or Liquid Fence.
Do you sell to the public or to other nurseries? Thank you,Carmen
Thank you for asking. we sell to the public. Our website is www.gardencrossings.com
How do you fertilize and how often?
You can apply a slow release fertilizer around your shrubs.
Could u show us the new hydrangea varieties
I do not have any that are mature yet. As they mature I will certainly make videos on them. Thank you for asking.
What are the other flowers that are paired with the bobo
Supertunia Mini Vista Hot Pink and Verbena Meteor Showers
Two of the bobos haven’t buded or flowered, leaves are big.
I thought not flowering only occurred in endless summer hydrangeas.
See the reply to your previous question.
Can bobo take overhead water from sprinkles during hot days?
I have yard sprinklers that overhead water and it does fine. The ones in the picture are on a drip but get supplemented with overhead occasionally if it gets hot.
@@gardencrossings Thank you soooo much!
Will it grow on part shade zone 5?
Yes as long as it gets 5+ hours of sun. I recommend afternoon sun
I planted my two bobo's in spring of 2020 inside planters. They bloomed well that first year, but not this past summer. They get morning sun and afternoon shade. I used a slow release fertilizer' but not rose tone. I live in zone 5 lower michigan. Would like to transplant them into the garden soon, since it is the first week of november.
I would recommend getting them planted in the ground and if possible plant them in a location with more sun.
@@gardencrossings Thank you!
Can I grow BoBo in Houston Texas?
They are hardy to zone 8. So if you are 8 or below then yes. I would recommend in a part sun location and a spot that gets plenty of water.
Are they planted as one bush or do y'all have two planted as one?😮
There is one plant in each spot
That’s the Bobo? I thought they only grow 2 feet tall. Now I’m scared. I just planted a hedge that I don’t want that tall.
Yes it is Bobo.
Have you ever heard bobo not flowering
I have not. They are usually a very reliable bloomer. They bloom on the new growth. y question might be, how much sun is your plant getting. They do like full sun to part shade. They may not bloom in the shade.
In our native language Bobo means dumb 😂
LOL. well that's funny
