Your hydrangeas are just stunning! So many varieties, and so lush and full of blossoms. What a beautiful landscape all around your property. Love the dense plantings of hydrangeas around your house, (& all the other plant varieties near the house and other areas in your yard).
Thank you for watching.
Love the tour through your gardens ❤️ I almost panicked seeing how big your firelight was but remembered I have the tidbits 👍
Ah Ha i would have panicked as well. Yes Tidbit is a lot smaller.
Wow Heidi 🌺🌻🌺. Your hydrangeas are beautiful and stunning . Bretty flowers .I lovet . Have awonderful day .
Thank you for walking through my garden
Oh my goodness I have hydrangea envy ! Your hydrangeas are stunning!
Thank you for watching. Be sure to check out our other hydrangea videos including fall trimming.
Love your garden and hydrangeas 💓
Thank you so much 😊
Beautiful! Im in a similar 5b/6a zone and climate but Massachusetts. I always recommend PW arborescens or panicle hydrangeas to my friends as they just shine in our climate and in either sun, part sun/shade or almost full shade (although fewer flowers in more shade and a smaller plant). Going to add firelight and invincible spirit to my collection next spring. I also love Pinky Winky. Highly recommend!
Thanks for watching. You are right they are so reliable
Your property is stunning!!!!!! Your hydrangeas are beautiful. I enjoyed your video.

I am totally in love with your gardens. Your butterfly garden is stunning.
Thank you so much!
Thank you, thorough explanation on the differences of growth habit, bloom size, and pruning techniques for the MANY hydrangeas.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow. What an inspiration for planting beautiful hydrangeas. Thanks for sharing your beautiful garden with us.
My pleasure 😊 Thanks for following along
Gorgeous 😍
Thank you! 😊
Agree on drying bobo. It’s only ok. Prefer to dry firelight tidbits.
I have not tried to dry Tidbit yet, I will have to give it a try.
They look beautiful Heidi! I remember watching Rod trim those down last fall and I had to watch with one eye open! They all rebounded and turned out gorgeous! I have four Bobo’s and two quick fires I need to get out of their nursery cans and into the ground soon! I’m just trying to decide where… thanks for sharing with us! 😊♥️
Thanks for watching. I think this video is a great follow up to the massive trim job that we did on the hydrangeas and shows they come back lovely.
Thanks Heidi. It sure has been dry here in southern Indiana. Take care.
It has been a crazy kind of year. Dry early in the summer then we got some rain finally.
Limetta is a very strong rebloomer like Wee White. If you deadhead them you will get more flowers in a few weeks.
Yes that is very true. The Invincibelle series are rebloomers, The Incrediball series are not rebloomers.
Most of my hydrangeas brown without turning pink down in 7b except my zinfindolls. They turn the most lovely deep pink! I've had the same arrangement of them on my dining room table for 2 years.
Zinfin Doll was a great Hydrangea, it has been discontinued now. I think Firelight is a great substitute.
I love your hydrangea videos!! I'm going to rewatch your pruning video from last year as I get ready to shut down the beds this year and will hope for the best. Do you fertilize them each year? Can you please share what you do with respect to pruning your Tuff Stuff Ah-Ha? Thanks again for all the great videos. ❤️
We fertilize once in the spring with a slow release fertilizer. I do not do much trimming on the Tuff Stuff as they bloom on new and old growth. If needed you can trim off the spent blooms. Or if it is just getting too big, trim it back as far as you want but understand you will be sacrificing the first round of blooms. ( Sometimes this needs to be done)
Heidi, don’t feel bad about not trimming off the flowers……green or dusty rose is also a color that’s beautiful in the garden. I hardly ever trim them in the summer, I think they actually look worse when trimmed. Quick Fire is also a beautiful dried flower…..I just brought a bunch in and they’re so pretty! Thanks for sharing.
I should try drying the quick Fire. They are at a perfect stage right now. I just never think about them as they are more lacy than full.
I wish I really liked hydrangeas but all my neighbors have some type and I’m a little “over it” 😅 (gardeners please don’t come for me 😂) BUT is there another type of plant that isn’t a hydrangea or an alternative?
I’ve been taking pride in finding and planting “new- and-unique-to-me” shrubs/trees/plants to plant in our yard 😊 (still a thumbs up 👍🏼 for support)
What about Proud berry? I think it's unique. I love it. Good Luck!
@@lisag6796 thank you so much! I actually have this saved in a favorite list of mine to remember to buy/order. The berries are so pretty 😍 and I love the color and it’s hardy in my zone 5b 🙏🏼
@@MariMari-vq8hl I'm glad it's in your zone. Happy gardening!
That is a great choice!!
I also like the Pugster Butterfly Bushes, they smell amazing and bloom a long time. Proud Berry is something that is different and a very cool plant. Another that I think is a bit unusual is PEARL GLAM® Callicarpa or Calycanthus Aphrodite(if you have a big space)
The hydrangeas look amazing! My butterfly bushes aren’t growing flowers and I can’t figure out why. Also, I am seeing black stalks in some of the stems of the milkweeds. Any idea what is causing that? The flowers are growing fine in spite of the blackened stems.
So beautiful! What is the pink flower a long the stone walkway in the thumbnail? Everything looks gorgeous!
Those are Sunpatiens, an annual. The are a great pop of color all summer long
@@gardencrossings they look beautiful and I thought that might be it but wanted to double check! Will be on my list next year! Ty😁
Thanks for watching
Hi Heidi! Do you have the fairy trail hydrangeas? I’m in Pa and would love to plant one.😊😊
Yes we do. Here is a link: www.gardencrossings.com/product/hydrangea-fairytrail-bride/
Beautiful flowers!!! I have 2 Bob's and they're nothing like yours! Ive had them for about 3 seasons now and they are just so small still. Their blooms are rather small as well. I am wondering if it is water or nutrition or something else? Could you please tell how much water they need or what food to give?
Mine get watered every day. We fertilize once in the spring
thanks Heidi! One more question. We have clay soil. Would that bound the roots or cause issue? I added some pine soil conditioner when I planted the Bobos but not sure if it needs on going help?
What is your fertilization program for your hydrangeas?
They get fertilized once in the spring with a slow release granular fertilizer.
I just planted a PW Let's Dance' hydrangea. It's about 2 feet tall and wide. Will it benefit it to be cut it back this fall or should I leave it alone this year and let it work on establishing roots? Thank you in advance, Laurie
If your plant is full and 2 feet tall, i would leave it. If you trim it now you will sacrifice the first round of blooms. If you feel like you want it to get fuller and more branching, then go ahead and trim.
Thank you! 👍
Since you cut back some of your hydrangeas to about 18-24 inches last year will you cut it back that hard again this fall?
No, I will wait another 2 maybe 3 years for most. I want the stems to get strong
How often to fertilize and what kind?
We fertilize i the spring with a slow release fertilizer
At 8:31 is that a Ms Molly butterfly bush?
Same question 🙋♀️ please
YES!!! That is Miss Molly. I love the color of that Butterfly bush.
😂😂🎉
Thank you for watching
