As we say in Norway, "There is no bad weather, only bad clothing"
Massive respect for Williams. What an effort.
For those who are wondering where the live went, Benji said in the chat that the wifi suddenly stopped working.
Nice FIREWORKS Benji ! So many fans like me have been waiting for her to stand on top of a podium.
Very happy for Kasia!!!!!
She's always one of the race animators but just never been able to win.
Yaaassss Kasia! I called her name yesterday and the dream finally came true! 🎉🎉🎉
AND, shout-out on this miserable weather day to the super young 2x CX World Champ Fem van Empel in 8th. Rewards earned for all finishers today!
I remember Leknessund publishing a picture on twitter/x this winter after he had ridden a training ride in -30 degrees
The weather dawg! 😂😂
No live?? But content remains elite so no problem
Stephan Williams looks like a young version of Dan Martin, same statue and uphill punch
We were saying the same thing. Has that core power for these 40 second punches
That clip of Skjeldmose getting carried into the team car was shocking to watch..
kasia won!!! finally
How did you not mention the 100k Ganna solo?????
LR criticizing Vismo's tactics I always find super interesting.
He’s said on several occasions that Visma allows him to keep the pod completely separate from his role at Visma. I doubt he’d continue to work for them if they didn’t allow him to say whatever he wants here. This pod has so much integrity because of how objective these two are
@@brolland07 I know and am so glad he clearly doesn't let it effect what he says, but its still strange to hear it since he works for them and has worked with them on tactical stuff.
Think you got it switched up, Staune Mittet was stronger on 3rd last Mur, but got dropped on 2nd last. Benoot and Van Dijke were both stronger, which is why Staune had to pace G2 back. Maybe Van Dijke should have attacked, but he would have needed like a minute at the base of the last Mur.😅
I think Vollerings strategy on the Mur was fine. She dropped everyone except Kasia who is a superspecialist and even in the past threatened the queen of Huy AVDB, and now she is stronger. The problem is that she does not seem to have a punch anymore, and without that punch she would not have beaten Kasia whatever her strategy.
I also think there has been nothing wrong with the SD strategy this week. The problem is Kopecky, who just has no idea what she is doing. Maybe she thinks she is helping, or maybe she is just enjoying sabotaging Vollering. They basically got the win in AQR and where second here behind a great Kasia.
Rooijakkers really looked unbelievable, she even had to come from way back on the Mur after already spending so much energy before. Curious whether she can be up there in LBL.
I think based on what we've seen this season, vollering could know kasia was going to better on the mur. So just setting pace was not going to kill niewiadoma. i think she would have done better by putting the pressure on others and with possible attacks let niewiadoma close them, which probablly she would have done and then maybe niewiadoma is too tired to have that final punch. But still strong effort from vollering!
@@ile1973 I understand your point, but with that reasoning based on what we have seen this season Vollering should also have known that ELB was going to be better than her on the Mur. And still she beat ELB. So it is not that simple.
I think at the end of the day the strongest person always wins on the Mur, we see that in men’s and women’s racing time and time again.
Looking at the women's results, with FDJ having 2 riders in the top-10, if you had put Vollering on that team today and those 2 FDJ top-10 riders rode completely in support of Vollering, does that make the difference for Vollering even though she was not in her top form?
lol with fireworks
Watched this live and saw that gap to the left open and yelled “go” and he went. Looked to other podcasts to call this none did. But LR saw same and called it. Great job!
In case you didn’t listen to Watts Occuring Bernal and CRod are apparently riding for Ineos so should have a much stronger team around Pidcock than there one they had today which wouldn’t have helped him much even if they survived the weather
everybody gabba'd up? 😂
So excited to see Kasia win, so long in the coming! Really happy for her!
No audio
Yeah I lost the live feed and couldn’t get it back… oh well some kind of glitch in the Matrix
Didn't understand Vollering's tactic on the huy. Same as for Cosnefroy, who said he knew he was done anyway.
This is the strategy that won the race in 8 of the last 9 editions.
Clearly didn't work this time though.
@@adshdhhhd7783 It did work, but 1 rider has a stronger punch, you can loose in sports even when you have the right strategy.
You would apparently have advised 8 of the 9 previous winners to apply a different strategy that would have jeopardized their victory.
Nice to see Kiwi James Fouché flying repping Euskaltel-Euskadi until the penultimate lap.
Sdwx and Visma similar springs .... drop in performance form a year ago....Visma certainly injuries and illness a contributing factor.
To quote Kopecky: “I was here to see what this race is like for the future”.
If she really cannot close the gap that she told Vollering she could not close, there is absolutely no reason for her to have a go at LBL. But of course she will wants do some more learning there….
if you saw kopecky climbing in the tour, you know she can win lbl if she makes it her big goal
@@ile1973 I saw her climbing in the Tour, and Vollering took about three minutes on her in the last five minutes of the Tourmalet. Of course it was a great performance by Kopecky, and who knows what she can do in the future. But with that level she was still nowhere near winning the Tour. If she would not have been on Vollering team she would not have been on the podium. LBL is different of course, much shorter climbs, so if it becomes a tactical race who knows what she can do. But if everyone races all out she is not going to win LBL. That is why the team should make her ride for Vollering, who is clearly on good enough form and has already won two times.
And my point was not that she is not strong, my point is that she did not want to make a big effort to close a gap for Vollering. Similarly in the same Tour she only did not do anything for Vollering, just like the guys say.
how is Williams beating pogi giro stage 1??
just not y’all’s day today with this pod😭
No sound?
There’s no such thing as bad weather. Just bad clothing choices!
As a Canadian, I couldn't agree more.
In the future they should pause the race and have everyone get dry and put on better clothing. Seems a bit random whether someone can tolerate such weather so it totally ruins the race.
Yeah, and tired riders should be allowed to use public transport or cars to catch up with fitter riders who can tolerate cycling better
@@larslosh5598 You act like rules for extreme weather don't exist already
@@christopherwillson No no I totally agree, rain is an extreme thing and being outside is dangerous
@@larslosh5598 Exactly. Look at how Skjelmose needed to be carried away.
@christopherwillson Yes, we must all take your example and seek shelter inside your mothers womb to survive
Very sad to see whole teams just give up when the going gets tough. It’s like a soccer team loosing 3-0 & it’s cold and raining so just going to locker room. It was 3 degrees not -20. I can see a specific rider being super cold & having to give up, but whole teams? That’s just cold/lazy !
they're useless if they are borderline hypothermic.
it’s hard to ride your bike when you have hypothermia
@@russellspeight5175 hypothermic like that one rider (forget his name) of course, but not whole teams
@@OfficialTomsSkujinsFanClub of course, but whole teams giving up? Come on
@@calvin1148 there were numerous riders like that. I don't think any of UAE were wearing cold weather gear 🤦
Why wasn't Vos there lol
