    Lyrics: Andromeda
    Woe to the one
    Who boast in front of the Gods
    Woe to the God
    Who is petty and jealous to mortals
    Woe to the beast
    Who blindly obeys
    Woe to the king
    Who, like a fool, sacrifices his own kin
    Gods and heroes shall fade away in time
    She will live forever
    Our queen Andromeda
    Why is it hollow fame that men seek?
    And love the beast inside of you and me
    "You shall not harm the maiden of my dreams
    Come and face your demise, monster of the deep!"
    Gods and heroes shall fade away in time
    She will live forever
    Our queen Andromeda
    Gods and heroes shall fade away in time
    She will live forever
    Our queen Andromeda
    Pages of time crumble before our eyes
    Unlike the awe for immortal skies
    "You shall not have the maiden of my dreams
    Kneel, flee or I'll cast a curse of stone upon thee!"
    Gods and heroes shall fade away in time
    She will live forever
    Our queen Andromeda
    Gods and heroes shall fade away in time
    She will live forever
    Our queen Andromeda

    Ensiferum haven't done Power Metal singing since Iron when Jari was in the band. Really need to get used to his voice but the riffs remind me of the Victory Songs era which is a good thing. Seems to be the best album since From Afar so far.

      I got some heavy Iron-era vibes from this song. The main guitar riff reminded me of "Sword Chant" and then later as you have the singing going and hear the lead guitar just diddling away in the background made me think of "Into Battle"
      P.S. I really want to hear how their classic songs will sound like with the Keyboard player on stage, he's got a really good clean voice with a wide range that I feel Ensiferum has lacked since the first 2 albums

    Amazing ! These guys never disappoint ! I'm definitely getting this album. Before the galaxy was named, Andromeda was a heroine in Greek myth. She was chained to a rock overlooking the sea and the sea god Poseidon sent a monster to eat her. She was rescued by the hero Perseus on Pegasus the winged horse. Obviously the video didn't have the budget for all that but I'm happy with boobs. Cheers guys ! (Crystal Viper : When the Sun Goes Down - Por favor.)

      @user-oo8oj1hl8k Před 4 lety +2

      I disagree, imo this song is a step towards their roots. Lots of similarities with their early stuff, which is a style they clearly moved away from for a few albums. And with the new clean singer it's like a reminder to the fans, like "Hey, remember when we did stuff like this? We can still deliver!"

  • @EatMoreWorms
    @EatMoreWorms Před 4 lety +2

    The Ensiferum guys seem to officially have run out of ideas. This is the most uninspired, bland run of the mill Ensiferum song ever. You find that same song on every one of the albums. Boring stuff. In the Jari days they made some awesome music. Sad to see them watering down more and more.

    • @Triskaan
      @Triskaan Před 4 lety +2

      I agree. The song is not bad... it's just generic as hell.
      The first two albums by Ensiferum will remain their absolute masterpieces.
      Though I do have fondess for Victory Songs and From Afar, but after that... yeah...

    • @user-oo8oj1hl8k
      @user-oo8oj1hl8k Před 4 lety +9

      I mean... the band does something different, you people complain that "they've lost their touch" and "sold out", and when they do something that's similar to their past work you say "they've run out of ideas" and "you find the same song on every album". And yet, every time they release something new people will be there to repeat these exact same comments and end up liking the albums anyway, only to again complain about the next one. Give it a few listens, maybe it's not your favourite, maybe it is. Doesn't mean they've failed you in some way, it's their band and they're gonna write the sort of songs they want to.

      @@user-oo8oj1hl8k I don't say they have ran out of ideas, but I think the OP has a legit point. Andromeda sounds really good (I love the tone of the rhythm guitar especially. Let's not talk about the too much power metal effect from Pekka's vocie... I don't like it (of course he sings fcking well, the problem is just the compatibility with folk metal...). Also I really don't think Jari's clean vocals were anything like power metal.), but if we look at complexity, number of distinctive riffs in a song... it's not that great.
      I just listened to Guardians of Fate for exmple. Not even a huge, popular song, yet it has a lot more layers than Andromeda, so it's more enjoyable. Polyphonic vocal parts here and there, a solo that's short but has at least 2 different parts (instead of repeating the same thing over and over again)...
      But maybe most importantly, they didn't have to do this "let's repeat the chorus a few tones higher at the end of the song". It's a legit, old technique but it's very effective at murdering a song. Randomly listening to some truly epic songs like Treacherous Gods, Little Dreamer, Token of Time, Lai Lai Hei, Tale of Revenge, Sword Chant, Into Battle... NONE of them have this sht.
      Power metal-like clean vocals... can get used to it, afterall technically it's really good.
      Song structure almost as simple as a rock... ehh, as long as there are a few great riffs, it's kind of OK.
      But this thing at the end of it... is painful. Same for Rum, Women, Victory. They do the fcking same there, though not as unabashedly as here. Would be a better song without it.
      I love the band and the members, I feel bad for saying bad things about some of their newest stuff (Though I like Two Paths for example. It's just pure "specialness", lots of Markus clean vocals, Netta, great lyrics, etc.. I like it a lot. But it got destroyed by the terrible pops and clicks by the cd manufacturers...), and I ordered the biggest "package" available to support them, but I think I just miss the genuinely, naturally well written songs like the ones I mentioned far above (without the power metal clean vocals...).
