This is "Lai Lai Hei" from their second album Iron (2004). A legendary folk metal hymn, Jari's vocals really stand out here with some parts sung in Finnish and a great solo towards the end of the song.

These two are probably the best songs from Ensiferum. I really recommend them, too!

Lai Lai Hei is definitely one of the songs that best represent the band's music as a whole. However, they have 6 albums worth of goodies, 2 with Jari, and on the newest album they also have Netta Skog from Turisas. :)

I like Ensiferum well enough but their first two albums with Jari are head and shoulders above everything else they've done. Token of Time, Lai Lai Hei, and Into Battle are all incredible songs.

Ah ah, finally some Ensiferum :) If you want to listen to some of the first two albums, check out "Token of time", "Lai Lai hei" and "Into Battle". You'll definitely love them.
Ensiferum is one of my favorite metalbands ever, hands down. So good. Especially the first album :D But From Afar and In my Sword I trust are such badass songs as well from newer albums
And the guitarist and only founding member left Markus Toivonen was also a part of the Wintersun's "The Forest That Weeps (Summer)" choir
He's been a part of every Wintersun choir(i.e Sons of Winter and Stars as well) along with Ensiferum bassist Sami Hinkka
from the jari era there are no music videos. I'd suggest the songs Lai Lai Hei, Iron, Token of Time and Sword Chant

This song introduced me to metal in the glorious year of 2011. Saw them live with Children of Bodom while suffering from otitis media. Since then my life improved a thousand times

You two are pretty are pretty cool.
I've listened to metal for the past 15 years, been through all genres, from black to stoner, and i'll tell you that: Ensiferum are one of the most talented bunch you'll ever find. Yea sure, there are some criticism about their albums, styles, song structures, name it. But in the end, when it comes to true metallers, Ensiferum have been there from the start (at least from my perspective) and are still going strong 15 years later.
Now, you might think Jaari is the mastermind behind all this. I wouldn't blame you, I've thought this for years. Many users of the interwebs frequently comment on how the first album was a masterpiece and it's not the same since Jaari left. That's true. The album Ensiferum - Ensiferum is the best album I have ever heard next to Kalmah - Swampsong (those Finns are something), but I've asked myself: how has Ensiferum kept that unique folk-metal vibe after Jaari left? The answer was clear: an underappreciated musician named Markus Toivonen is the actual mastermind. The songs (or melodies) from the self-titled album were already composed when Jaari joined the band, he just made them awesome with his out of this world skills and vocals.
Ensiferum are still going strong. Their new album takes a few listens to get used to and contains some memorable riffs. The best part, for me, is the Bonus Acoustic Show DVD. Holy moly, you will see all the talent from this. Petri, Sami, Neeta and that metronome of a drummer (sorry man, forgot your name, thought you were a robot) all shine in that DVD. And the crowd is just amazing. Emmi is there too. I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO THAT SHOW! Give it a shot.
I used to think Jaari was everything. No, Markus Toivonen and Petri Lindros got Ensiferum covered... and Sami and...all of them!!

The thing with every new Ensiferum album is that there is a very loud group of people who will hate on everything Ensiferum made post Jari era so I wouldn't really consider most of the criticism towards them as worth noting.

They call their music pagan metal, trying to distance themselves from standard folk metal since they don't like being called a folk metal band. Maybe Melodic/Symphonic Black Metal with folk elements would be right way to describe them, though it's easier to just say it's Epic Metal!

This was one of the bands that shaped modern power metal into what it is, catchy melodies reinforced by keybords, lyrics about mystical fantasy realms, super technical guitar solos etc.
