Almost all of these points are meaningless once you factor in samsung...
    1. Removed it for water resistance - S7 and up have all had water resistance, while keeping the headphone jack
    2. Removed for space for more features - Samsung literally fit a pen in their phone, while keeping the massive amount of features they normally bring
    3. Removed for a bigger battery - Samsung fits very large batteries in their phones, with a headphone jack, and with the note, *with a pen*

Sorry friend, but Samsung have one of the worst real world battery lifes out there. Don't try pointing me towards synthetic tests saying otherwise, i've already seen them. I've also owned a samsung and had to get rid of it after 9 months because of it's attrocious battery life, not to mention how fast their batteries degrade too. The only way a Samsung device's battery could get better is if it exploded. Oh wait, they tried that feature already. Didn't go down too well.
You do have a valid point with the first and second points though, although most people never even touch the S Pen. The main reason people buy a note is purely for the larger screen.
There is another point to be made as far as space goes too. Have you seen the inside of a Samsung phone? They still use the same small pack style batteries that have been in use for over a decade. They are generally much smaller than what other manufacturers use today, which begs the question:
With the fact samsung have atrocious battery life and degrade very quickly, are their batteries even the amount of Amps they say they are, or are they modding the battery's built in firmware to report a higher number than is true?
That would certainly explain how when I had an S7, it always died within 5 hours of being unplugged. I have never had that bad of a battery life with ANY phone before, Androids included. Even when I had a Sony Xperia Z2, that lasted all day despite having a 2K display, without problems. And I'm not the only one either. Every friend of mine who has/had a samsung reports the same complaints. Even Linus himself had to release a follow up video to his S9 review where he initially praised the battery - because he realised after some time that the battery is in fact, absolutely terrible. And by some time, I mean a mere few months, never mind the expected minimum device lifespan of 1-2 years.

He broke like 10 screens while doing that and he put it right on the corner, that extra space was used to help the phone sustain accidental corner drops, if they had put the jack there the screen would shatter as soon as you dropped the phone and it hit the corner.
The waterproof headphone jack is patented and costs royalties meaning it drives the price up to give us something that most of us don't use anyway... no thanks.
The water resistance is for accidents, not for swimming with your phone... if the water gets in, the warranty doesn't cover you. Many people accidentally dropped their phone in the water, they are most abused pieces of technology on the planet, so water resistance makes much more sense than a crappy 3 pin connector from 60s that takes so much space.

@jackthegamer Nope even from 2 meters the iPhone dropped on a corner does not break, you get scratches and dings on corner, so it's all cosmetic and both the screen and back glass are still fine, this is because there is some room behind the frame which really helps to absorb the damage... adding a headphone jack which is pushing against the screen is the total opposite... there just wasn't room for it.

"We don't have space!" Bruh. My Xiaomi phone has the 3.5mm jack, a mechanized front facing camera and still manages to fit in a 4000mAh battery. It's not like that made sacrifices either. The CPU and "graphics accelerator" were the fastest on the market when I bought it. It doesn't even get hot.(though I usually play less intensive games, if I remember playing PUBG also didn't heat it up though) The battery holds up nice too. Lasts long and charges fast. All that for a fraction of an iPhone with the downside being I wouldn't be surprised if Xiaomi spied on people though Apple is probably doing the same... Not even gonna mention Google. 3:14 That is just flat out incorrect. Wireless transmission of audio delivers objectively poorer sound quality and is more prone to interference than cables. And as for digital connectors, there is going to be a digital to analog conversion anyway, the only difference is that it happens inside the headphone rather than the phone. Not to mention that the best sounding headphones still use a jack for connection, so you're going to need a headphone jack if you want to maximize sound quality, even if a better connector could exist in theory.

Maybe waterproofing is an argument, but I'm sure 90% of people would rather have a phone with some sort of cover to waterproof the headphone jack than no headphone jack at all. And the Samsung Galaxy S5, one of the first phones to have waterproofing, needed a cover for the charging port, and not the headphone jack, showing that it was easier to waterproof the headphone jack than the charging port. I wonder what would happen if a startup came along and released a phone that was relatively thick (at least by today's standards), that incorporated all features consumers looked for. A headphone jack, the biggest battery that's available, dual cameras, wireless charging, expandable memory, no notch display that's 120hz, and most importantly, stock android (no dumb skin or bloatware). I mean call me crazy, but I'd happily buy a thicker phone if it meant I got more functionality out of it.
Edit : Of course extensive R&D would be necessary to create a good user experience. Weight and heat are definitely concerns, those are the issues that would need to be addressed, new technology and innovations are always in development so with lighter components and better heat transfer solutions, it could be possible. In all honesty I thought the newer Samsung phones were close to perfect, but the poor android skin and the fact that they can't help but push Bixby down people's throat was a major turn off. In terms of public perception and marketing, developing a good brand image is hard and takes time, however not impossible. Mother's not buying phones for their weight is a real thing, but that's where the free market comes in. This kind of phone would not be for everyone, and that's fine.

Also with dongles there are digital and analog dongles and some phones only use digital and other use analog dongles. So if you buy the wrong dongles it won't work with it. Using bluetooth headsets means I have to charge it and if I forget then well I can't use it. Also when traveling all planes ban the use of bluetooth headphones when it is in the air and the you actually need to have a regular headphone jack to connect to their 3.5mm jack to listen to audio.

    1. Wireless headphones are expensive and take a bit to connect compared to just plug and play of the headphone jack.
    2. Bluetooth headphones require to be charged and if they do not use the same connector as your other devices then that is another new charger you have to carry around.
    3. Latency in mobile gaming which (for better or worse) is a big deal is a major issue. Also mid game disconnections, re-connections require exiting the game most of the time.
    4. Dongles (included ones) do not allow charge and use at the same time, another big need for mobile phone gaming.
    5. Wireless earphones create issues with WiFi sometimes when they are running over the same frequency.
    6. Usb-C earphones are another cluster since one earphone might not work with another phone that also has the same USB-C standard. Cross compatibility sucks balls.
There is no point of removing something essential such as the headphone jack when you provide no alternative that is as good as or in most cases better than the current solution.
It is a dumb thing and will remain a dumb thing until there is a genuine replacement. That said I will have to live with it because Apple did it, and monkey see, monkey do.

They get tangled up all the time, snagged on random shit ripping them out of your ear or worse ripping your phone out and having it plummet to the ground. Wires also have multiple points of failure and is the reason I’ve had to replace ANY of my headsets. Wireless fixes that, and with wireless now being a standard the technology is moving forward faster. Just take a look at the new Sony WH-1000 XM3.
