Vintage 1982, Tomy Space Pets, High-Hopping Hoomdorm air pump powered toy, No. 5010.
"Just pump him up with air. He's the craziest creature that's ever been there. He hops on the ground. He's the strangest creature around.

I had one of these in the early 80's. I was probably bout 4. I thought this was so cool. then my older uncle took it to his friends house to supposedly "fix it". Never saw it again after that! This is my first time seeing it and watching it bounce since then. that was 33yrs ago!! Let me just say that the memories started flooding back to me when I saw this video. Aaaaaaahhhhhh, the good ol days!😋 Thanks, for that, and greets from St. Louis, MO.

May 21' my mother handed me a box of childhood things, and inside was one of these space pets, different format but equally fun, like you memories flooded back. Very fun toys.

I got one of those for Christmas 1984. I had it until I was about 25 then gave it to a kid down the street. It still worked like it did in 84. Good memories

My God, how I have searched for years, trying to recall the name of these toys. I had this when I was about 12 years old. I also had a couple of other ones, but for some reason, I remember them all being black and green. Each one was activated by a pump but worked differently than one another. The toys back then were made really well. Especially the original Transformers, generation one. Those action figure were made with die cast metal and an exceptionally hard plastic. I just recently went to my local Walmart and decided to purvey the toy section. I found my beloved Transformer section only to be utterly crushed by disappointment. The figures were made so damn cheaply and low and behold not one of them didn't have a silly anime facial feature to it. Then the prices, holy crap! I could believe it. Such a damn shame. I wish to God I had the whole Generation one of the Transformers lineup. They were so damn good. The Insecticons, the Dinobots, The original Megatron, I'm taking about the truly first one, which resembled a genuine luger with an extension to it. It was made mostly of metal and was freaking awesome. Then there was the awesome Soundwave, the Decepticon communications officer. He was a boom box and the cassette tapes were each a small transformer recognizance officer. These toys were exceptionally made well. The versions I saw recently made me sad for today's kids. They won't get to enjoy the insane quality of the original series unless someone gets them some online

There were more than this one. Maybe three?? I had a Fleet Footed Floondorm. It just gyrated around and didn't go anywhere. I remember wishing I would have bought an Air Jammer Road Rammer instead.

I got one of these in 1984. On that day, I was in a car crash, in a ten-year-old Honda Civic.
Twenty-five years later, I had the Hoomdorm sitting in the rear window of my ‘99 Civic Si, sort of as a totem of defiance. The car was stolen. Maybe the Hoomdorm was a cursed object for Hondas?

That's the same toy that Toy Story's (now fired) director John Lasseter had in the behind the scenes video The Making of Toy Story
