Lucy Mack was also prepared by the Lord over several generations. She had family that were Joseph Fathers naming a child Joseph. It is clear the Lord had worked upon her families so as to inspire her to name a son "Joseph, after the name of his Father".

      I’m a Mormon.
We should believe the Scriptures, not man.
And the Scriptures testify the Mormon Church is the only true Church of Jesus Christ on Earth.
But if something is taught that can't be verified by Scripture, think twice about believing it.
I understand why so many people are leaving the church.
Many false doctrines exist causing countless CZcams videos mocking Mormonism.
False doctrines like grandpa gods, (God the Father has a father), Mormons becoming gods of their own planets, Adam helped create the earth, Christ and Satan are brothers, God the Father has rarely spoken in Scripture, the African Americans were bad in the pre-existence; all of which no Scripture verifies.
And each Sunday the Sacrament is tainted because only Elders and Priests can administer but the Deacons prepare/administer, and the Teachers pass/administer the Sacrament. (D&C 20:57)
And the Lord says, He’s bound when we do what He says but if not there is no promise. (D&C 82:10)
…that the scriptures might be fulfilled; for ye shall do according to that which is written. (D&C 24:14)
And we wonder why there’s depression, mental illness and other unspeakable events among us?
And many are leaving the church because if you don't fit the mold the church leaders sculpture you're not a part of the click.
Mormons believe the church leaders over Scripture.
The zealous believers have the church leaders in mind with everything thing they think say and feel testifying to impress others how much they believe the current church leaders are God-inspired.
But the Scriptures reveal the church leaders are the problem with the entire Planet.
      For example,
In 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 we are informed of a person revealed as the son of perdition.
This son of perdition sits in the temple of God making himself God or above all that is called God.
Therefore, if the Mormon Church is the only true church, then the only person 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 could be talking about is the current Mormon prophet.
For what other church is the one and only true Church with temples?
And Joseph Smith taught a son of perdition can only be a church member holding all the rites of God's priesthood and using the priesthood against God as did Judas.
Therefore, who else other than the current Mormon prophet could the apostle Paul be speaking of?
It's as plain as the nose on a face.
And even God in the Doctrine and Covenants tells us about the current church leaders and how displeased He is saying the end of this world will begin among them. (D&C 112:23-26)
Joseph Smith taught the false doctrine of grandpa gods (God the Father has a father) not over the pulpit as a prophet but as a sermon at a funeral, which should not be taken as Scripture fulfilling God’s sayings to Paul, And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: (2 Thessalonians 2:11)
That they might be damned who believed not the truth….(2Thessalonians 2:12)
And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. (Revelation 13:7) (D&C 112:23-26)
And the current Mormon prophet is the son of perdition because he has all the saints believing God our Heavenly Father was created by a being greater than Himself but Scripture says there is no greater than our God. (Hebrews 6:13)
Therefore, the son of perdition has all the saints breaking the first commandment God gave Moses,
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Does it make sense to reasonable thinking that God would command we have no other gods before Him but really there are?
Does He not want us to know this?
      Why is it a secret?
There’s a reason He commanded to have no other gods before Him.
Because by believing in false grandpa gods the saints believe our God is an infinitely lesser God putting Lucifer before God.
And the moment we put a god before our God, our God becomes an infinitely lesser God.
Not only that, our God also becomes a liar.
He and the Scriptures says He is the greatest of all.
He and the Scriptures says He is the Most High God.
He and the Scriptures say He created all things.
And in the Scriptures He says over and over there are no gods beside Him. (Isaiah 44:6) (Isaiah 44:8) (Isaiah 45:22) (Hebrews 6:13)
Therefore, the saints believing there are gods before Him is the saints believing the son of perdition or the current Mormon prophet over the Scriptures and calling God and the Scriptures a lie.
      And Isaiah warns,
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)
The saints call the son of perdition (President Nelson) good and good (Jesus Christ) evil.
Because President Nelson says Christ and His Father are liars and fosters the false doctrines.

Peter, John, Paul, Alma, Nephi, Lehi, Jacob and all the canonized prophets would not allow false doctrines from the Adversary but President Nelson does.

President Nelson says Christ did not create all things. (John 1:1-3)
Matter/energy cannot be created or destroyed the scientists say therefore the son of perdition or President Nelson says the grandpa gods created these calling Christ and the Scriptures a lie.
Well did Abinadi warn the wicked king Noah and his priests,
Have ye taught this people that they should observe to do all these things for to keep these commandments? (Mosiah 13:25)
I say unto you, Nay; for if ye had, the Lord would not have caused me to come forth and to prophesy evil concerning this people. (Mosiah 13:26)
And what is the commandment Abinadi taught that the people do not obey?
Thou shalt have no other God before me. (Mosiah 12:35)
Know ye not that I speak the truth? Yea, ye know that I speak the truth; and you ought to tremble before God. (Mosiah 12:30)
And it is a false doctrine to say God our Heavenly Father has rarely spoke to us in Scripture.
      (3 Nephi 27:26), (3 Nephi 24:1). (2 Nephi 31:20), (2 Nephi 31:11) (D&C 49:20)
Beware of the doctrine of the scribes and Pharisees, which are today’ Church leaders. (Matthew 16:6-12)

Did you know Dartmouth College was only 5 miles away from where the Smith's lived? Did you know that Hyrum Smith went to college prep school from 1811 to 1815 on the Dartmouth college campus? Did you know that Joseph Smith's relative was a theology professor at Dartmouth from 1775 to 1804, named John Smith? Did you know that Professor John Smith's writings are virtually identical to mormon doctrines? Did you know that Professor John Smith taught Ethan Smith who wrote the View of the Hebrews in 1823? Did you know that Ethan Smith was the pastor of Oliver Cowdery's family? Did you know that View of thet Hebrews has many similarties with the BOM? Did you know Dartmouth College was only 5 miles away from where the Smith's lived?
Similarities between Dartmouth professor John Smith's writings and Mormon doctrines:
    1. Greek philosophy provided his concept of the Pre-existence.
    2. Atonement Covenant was made before the earth was.
    3. Plan of Salvation was agreed to in the Pre-existence.
    4. Father, Son and sons of men were together in the Pre-existence.
    5. Spiritual death was man’s condition after the fall.
    6. Son’s Church would exist in all ages after the fall.
    7. Types and shadows of the covenant found in the Scriptures.
    8. Oaths and covenants serve as Deity’s legal structure.
    9. Light, borrowed light and the light of reason would guide.
    10. Melchizedek Priesthood is co-eternal with God.
    11. The Priesthood is the source of the Son’s authority.
    12. Aaronic Priesthood promised to Aaron’s descendants.
    13. Free Agency and the right to choose is integral to the plan.
    14. Degrees of Glory is the structure of the Eternities.
    15. Consecration to Christ is required for highest exaltation.
    16. Revelation required to know ultimate nature of God.
    17. Spirit is a simpler form of matter.
    18. The prosperity cycle is the natural direction of history.
    19. Millions of peopled worlds.
    20. Father argues for justice and Son argues for mercy.

Brother, have you ever studied the Book of Mormon 15-30 minutes per day for 10 days, with an open mind, sincerely seeking in prayer each day to know whether it is true through a spiritual witness from the Holy Ghost? Because if this happens for you, none of the arguments against the Book of Mormon will matter to you anymore.
P.S. I have never encountered a critic of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who has done this. It’s strange this is the case and hard on their credibility.

There are many religion professors of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who have written papers and articles addressing this book in depth, and their responses are sufficient for me; my church’s college (BYU) also keeps copies of it in their library for reference and ongoing study.
Now, you haven’t done what I asked you about. Are you willing to read it for 10 minutes per day for 10 days and ask God in prayer whether or not it’s true? Please do ask Him as you understand Him rather than as we see Him. Please do this, our discussion will never come to a resolution unless you attempt what I’m asking just as I’m doing what you’ve asked.

Back in Mormonism’s inception in the 1830s, it was possible to make very sensational-and very unsubstantiated-claims.
Almost 200 years later, advances and discoveries in anthropology, linguistics, archaeology, DNA and other sciences allow for a more forensic examination of such claims.
Let’s take just one-the claim that some Israelites came and settled in the Americas, and on such a scale that millions could be lost in battle.
Mormons say this is historical fact-others say it’s nonsense.
What do the aforementioned sciences-and common sense reveal to the objective observer, one not clouded by cognitive dissonance?
We only have two options-the claim there is evidence Israelite immigrants were on this continent, or there is no such evidence.
Anyone with even a cursory acquaintance with scripture knows the Israelites were an Iron Age people, had the wheel (carts, wagons, chariots), plowed with draft animals, used potter’s wheels, made and used glass, wrote in alphabetic characters, used base ten numbers, and spoke their own distinct Semitic language.
A boat ride from the Middle East to the Americas would not change any of that.
Yet, we find NONE of these things in the New World at that time, nothing, nada, zilch.
If you got on a ship, and sailed somewhere else, how much of this would you suddenly forget?
Would your DNA change on this boat trip-putting you on a completely different branch of the human family?
Even when people break off from others, some things ALWAYS, ALWAYS stay the same.
For instance, when America broke off from England, they went from the pound to the dollar-but you would NEVER go from a base ten numerical system to a six. . .ever.
It would completely upend your mathematics, currency, calendars, and well, everything numerical.
So, we are left with two possibilities: The Israelites, and the inhabitants of the Americas not only were not the same peoples-they never even met each other.
Or. . . Iron Age immigrants apparently managed to somehow forget what a wheel was, how to smelt iron, use wagons and carts, plow animals, make pottery or glass, speak or write their own language-and inexplicably converted from the base ten number system-on a single boat trip.
Oh, and their DNA changed-a biological impossibility.
EVERYTHING ELSE about Mormonism and The Book of Mormon hinges on the claim that Israelites came to The New World in the time frame alleged by Joseph Smith.
If this “historical account” is just incredibly clumsy, EASILY debunked mythology, it knocks the legs out from under ALL Mormon theology.
So, the real question is: Where does this evidence point?

🤓☝ almost 200 years later, advances and discoveries in anthropology, linguistics, archeology, DNA, and other sciences allow for a more forensic examination of such claims
Come on bro, current scientific knowledge about ancient america is waaay under developed. Less then 1% of the sites have been excavated. It's like taking a spoon of wager out of a lake and saying there is no such thing as a fish.
Genetic drif, native American genocide, epidemics, wars, mixing with other people from different origins, famine, dry seasons... All of that can help explain why the DNA evidence is hard to get. Imagine if Irish people (let's say about 10 families) had gone to an island and found Chinese people (let's say about 100 families). The Irish and Chinese start mixing, and after 20 generations of sporadid war, famine, dry seasons... African colonizers get to the island, bringing epidemics and starting mass murdering the natives. So, 5 generations AFTER the colonizers settled on the island and ALSO had a fair amount of mixing with the natives, how hard will it be to find Irish DNA?

my name. I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them. They are prophesying to you false visions, divinations, idolatries and the delusions of their own minds.
    Jeremiah 14:14
16 This is what the LORD Almighty says: “Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD.
    Jesus said:
For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. Matthew 24:24
    Acts 20:30
30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.
John said not to add or take away from Holy Scripture.
Joseph smith knew nothing about the Eastern Orthodox Church and holy tradition (not a tradition of man)
Nowhere in OT or NT it say about becoming a god of your own planet

The story is one of fiction, with, zero credibility... it shows people are easy to believe anything when it has no basis in reality.

Joseph smith was far from a prophet

@Ty For you, what are the criteria for being a prophet?
