  • Yes, this title is correct, Direct to Watch is now out in the UK. Update your Dexcom G7 app and your existing G7 sensor will connect to the watch directly. If your Dexcom G7 does not show you an update, open the App Store on the Dexcom G7 page and leave it open. After 30 sec or so, the "Open" button will change to "Update"- this update includes the Direct to Watch functionality and will also update your watch app.
    During ATTD in Florence, I had the pleasure of catching up with Alex Moussa- Senior Vice President and General Manager of EMEA and LATAM for Dexcom. Alex explained how the new direct to watch functionality works and how it works when using an integrated pump.
    If you have any questions about direct to watch, let me know in the comments and I will help out!

    Can you please make another video about this? so how well it works. Is the blood sugar always (!) displayed on the watch face, or do you have to open the app every now and then so that the value is displayed on the watch face? THX

      My guess is you can have it display always on the watch. I currently have a complication on my watch face that always displays my number through the current phone app. I would expect they would maintain that functionality at least.

      @@nubbz1068 I have the complication on my watch face as well, I think they are eluding to the limitation of having to tap the complication to force it to update... if you're glancing at the watch face frequently you'll find that the complication will lag or stop showing readings. I too am hoping that direct to watch resolves this issue.

    Can't wait for this in North Carolina! I believe there would be an Apple Watch complication allowing user to pick and choose what to display. For sure you can display blood sugar continuously with the right complication, This can be done today with just the current iPhone IOS

    My son uses G6/Tandem but the amount of alarms are maddening. He is looking to switch to Libre 2 or 3 to try to eliminate some alarm fatigue. I wish alarms were our choice and not the company's. When linked to a pump, all of the alarm decisions are made by the pump. Sadly, that takes away the incentive to connect them for him. However, if he got to decide which ones he wanted so he could get a night of uninterrupted sleep then this would interest him. All he really wants is extreme low alarms for sleep.At times he may would add a high alarm but not multiple notifications like when it rides the line of 200 just enough to bounce back and forth and activate that alarm over and over.

    I added the Apple Watch to my Dexcom connections. Works sort of ok. Was at a ball game yesterday and walked to concession stand a little walk from stands. Kept losing signal and the little phone icon would show next to readings. Makes me nervous to not have phone with me.

      I honestly don't think we will get it anytime soon. We typically get the tech about 3-4 years past it's release in the US like we saw with the dexcom g6 and omnipod dash. So the dexcom g6 that launched late 2022 is very unlikely to be here soon. The TGA is stricter than the FDA and takes far longer to approve anything.

      @@craigclark5845 I actually moved to au from NZ a 3 weeks after it was released in there. It was released in NZ in 2022. For what it’s worth, at least the dexcom is funded by the NDSS in AU. When I lived in NZ, it was 8500 dollars per year.

    • @RyanCrossOfficial
      @RyanCrossOfficial Před 2 měsíci

      my endo recently said it should be arriving in Au in a few weeks, but a follow up chat with my pharmacist suggests nothing has been said or seems imminent. Though the pharmacist suggested it might be AU needing to reduce its stock of G6 (i'm not sure about that) I still remain hopeful that its soon. I suspect it could be mostly a commercial decision for AU/NDSS, but lets hope the TGA gets it approved asap, since that seems like it should be the no brainer.

    What is even more painful for me about the Apple Watch experience is the frequency of updated readings to the Dexcom watch face complication. For anyone who has used direct to apple watch, does this change the experience of the watch complication at all? Or does it still lag and you have to tap on it to force an update?

    This really seems to be for those who are going out for run, a swim, marathon, or are involved in an all day sporting event for example, because 99.5% of people are still going have there phones with them.Next question is though bluetooth uses less battery life than wifi, I suspect it’s going to effect battery life on Apple Watch.

      Great question. Sensor set up happens on the iPhone. So you need an iPhone to activate the sensor and you can then leave it behind for 10 days. To start another session, you will need it again. Does that make sense?
