You're right 👉 that's a very powerful module and I use it all the time too 😊
Hey Rico! Great video. We need more vids like this because Darktable can be used in complex ways, but it doesn’t have to be complex. Cheers mate
Thanks Nick! More videos like these will follow!
Perfect for those quick shots, such as items for sale. Thanks Rico. You resolved another complex task down to 3 fast and easy steps.
Awesome to hear!
Simplifying processing in Darktable makes it more accessible which hopefully expands the user base. Very well done!
Great video! I didn't even notice that you didn't switch on your light. Great shot, and beautiful subjects. The tiny one is so cute.
Thank you! She's our oldest haha! Such an explorer!
Wow. This is brilliant. I need to try it. Thanks Rico.
Not lazy it works for you. BTW how about a video on editing eclipse pictures. Dialing in my camera settings for the April 8th event here in the states.
I'm sorry, I won't be able to produce a video on that topic before that date
Didn't expect that quick of a turn around, but something in the future. After all I haven't taken the pictures yet!@@RicoResolves
Have you made a whole video on how to use and read the histogram for color and highlights and such? I cannot figure out how to change things from there.
I did address it, how left is for shadows, the middle for midtones and the right side for highlights/more exposure. The colors can be used to get a perfect white balance. You can check my videos made about that for it. Let me know if that helps!
Kindly help my Darkroom doesn't show my raw file pictures (cr2), but on the lighttable I can see it. Is there a way to view the raw on the dark table so that I will be able to edit. When I insert jpeg it shows in both options (darkroom and lighttable).
Is that like a Canon file? I made a video on how to convert it so you can use it in darktable. But you should be able to use it straight away
Yes it is a canon file, can I kindly have the link to the video

I know you ignored the mask tab and I think for the purpose of your video that is mostly a good call but you shouldn't dismiss two features there.. When using that module the fulcrum sliders should always be set to match the tonality of the image... using the autopickers is fine... esp the gray one...this sets the level in your photo of what gets made darker and what gets made lighter when you bump contrast.... you can get more natural contrast or target it doing that... The other masking stuff sets the tonal range impacted by the sliders but for the purpose of this video as you noted that is likely overkill...but those two fulcrum sliders should be set....in a way I am not sure why there is not a tick box to have this done automatically..... looks like a nice adventure with your daughter...Happy Easter....
Thanks Todd, hence the image with: "I have no idea what I'm doing" haha. I'll look into that when I make a new video. Happy Easter to you too.
At least enable denoise when you are shooting at ISO 1600. Just one more click.
