Oh wow this is exciting. I’ve been both hopeful and terrified for years about the prospect of a future with fully AI automated CAD to CAM workflows. The engineering world will have to adapt fast

It seems at this point AI can learn from expert but can’t “figure it out” on its own.
However whatever it learns from one expert becomes available to anyone and the knowledge from multiple experts is cumulated.
It would be interested to ask the machine to analyze what might be wrong with the gcode rather than giving it instructions to improve.

Ive been playing around with this and glad to see people on the same page, im excited to go down the journey of errors and watch ai learn and grow !
The problem is it takes to long to describe verbally a three dimensional shape. If I had a model of my machine and placed the model of my part and the stock (Cam software already does all of this) in the machines model. Then the AI had a tool library to choose from and I selected the areas to machine. Then it could come up with a machining strategy based on the material description. Then I could view a simulation and tell it to change the strategy to other selections verbally that might be helpful. But to just describe a part verbally is not enough information. If it could then learn from many iterations of me telling it the strategies I used. Maybe, but I think you might as well be wishing for a Star Trek replicator.
It's certainly difficult to explain in words.
I am looking forward to seeing how the technology develops in the future.

I think the trick comes down to feeding chatGPT multiple functioning programs, and then asking it to make a new program based on that structure

Guess for simple , in global coordinates moves is ok , anything a bit complicated or multiax need to have vertual machine and postprocessor fo exact machine to be transfered to this AI for programming and toolpath verification , collision avoidance etc, and I guess optimistion of G code we dont begine even speaking here :-))
