Beating the NES "Double Dare" obstacle course

The obstacle course in the NES version of "Double Dare" was much more difficult than it should have been, requiring continuous left-and-right mashing of the D-pad mixed with occasional whaling on either right or up. It's easy enough to find videos of people beating the obstacle course while playing a ROM, but it's much less common for someone to do it using original NES hardware.

Me and my mother played this back in the day on nes and for the life of us we couldn't get the player to move now 30 yrs later I see you just keep pushing left and right

WORST NES Game Show Game! It was impossible to get most of those obstacles finished! I remember having to move back and forth left and right constantly and my fingers aching! I couldn't get passed 5/6 of them. Maybe 7? I never was able to get all 8...
