There has been such an increase of interest of Scott's work on the general fantasy forums and even booktube over the last two or three years. A new series announcement would probably send those groups into overdrive.

Not a day passes without thinking Earwa and the No-God. I would be always grateful to Master Bakker for that. The pinnacle of my reading.
I wish all the best to him either he manages to offer us the sequels or not.
I would offer my soul though to the Hungers's granary as a little oat seed if that meant I would read these books

I really hope this series is continued or he is working on a prequel. I'm about to pick up the final book (UC) and after the final word of the final book crosses my lips.......Idk what I'm gonna do with myself. lol. Probably jump right back into my first re-read. This man has set the bar for fantasy in my opinion.

I would love more someday, but if it never comes out it's still my favorite series of all time. I wish him and his family the best, with life and not just writing. I do like the "ending" as it is but of course I care deeply about Mim, Esme, and Akka and I will make up more stories for them in my own head for now.

I put off The Aspect Emperor series for a while because i knew it didn't end the story and didn't want to be let down with a false ending. Needless to say i started reading it and really hope for him to finish it.
The first apocalypse won after 14 years or the No God so we know humanity can win, and i knew kellaus couldn't "win" in the end because he is so inhuman, him winning would be the bad ending

I would very much love if we got more, but at the same time, the story does feel complete(with a few loose ends)
It feels like the story explored what it set out to explore while leaving in plenty of mystery and info alluding to future events and the cyclical nature of earwa to leave fans discussing for years on end.
Exploring the world and characters during System Resumption would be peak grimdark especially with bakkers writing style, and part of me wants to see more Acha,Esmi and Mymarra, but I also fear for how bleak their journey would be.
Bakker has definitely made a mark in modern fantasy and i hope these books live on for a long time, especially with the current acceleration in AI technology improvement, a lot of the debates around AI art and text generators feels a lot like certain discussions about meaning, truth and reality in the book series.

"Complete with a few loose ends"
A few loose ends such as the fate of all major characters and the world itself? Yeah, that's another way of saying, "it does not feel complete at all".
Scott's brother recently shared his position on this stating that, while it would be great if the narrative continued and reached an actual conclusion, epistemic boundaries are a major theme, so it's also okay if it does not. You know, our capacity for knowledge is limited, and who's to say we should get to know what happens!

This is a story about the death of meaning and truth, isnt it fitting that at the end the Deciever is decieved and all that he has built up trough manipulation and lies (even though its for an altruistic reason)crumbles around him?
The human spirit embodied by Acha,Mymarra and Esmenet is still very much alive, Mymarra giving birth to a healthy kid in the middle of the apocalypse and at the end of her hellish journey shows how much humans can handle while still remaining defiant in the face of insurmountable odds.
If you read trough the appendices there are events in there that happen after the book ends.
Knowledge of the Ordeal survives, and humans hold the Ordeal and The aspect emperor in high regard due to their efforts to destroy golggoterath.
The story is complete though, Kellhus being overcome by the Darkness that comes before and being humbled and brought down by his own human inadequacies and relationships is one of the central themes of the books, he might have been a Dunyain, but he is still just a human.
99% of the main characters are dead, their fate isnt up in the air, and Kellhus left behind people that are knowledgeable enough to stop the apocalypse.
With all of the major info regarding the cyclical nature of time in Earwa we can assume that humanity will overcome the consult, Zaum is still intact and all of the humans now know that the NoGod is coming, Acha is still alive and has his prophetic dreams to guide him, The Judging Eye still being able to see The activated No-God shows that the consult are oblivious regarding the true nature of damnation, Moenghus Jr and the scylvendi are still around with the Heron Spear, Serwa and Kayutas might be able to survive and try to lead any survivors, humanity can still rally and defeat the consult, especially with kellhus still pulling some strings from the outside.
The only actual real loose end is Crabhands, every other thing had a purpose in the books and came to a conclusion, his is the only story that is actually incomplete.

    • @SockPuppet80
      @SockPuppet80 Před rokem +2

@@qaztim11 I wouldn't say it's fitting if the Deceiver is deceived by a literal deus ex machina which he himself had previously acknowledged. (Kellhus explains to Proyas that the gods are destined to lose because they're blind to TNG, and yet acts as if the path to victory involves channeling a god to fatally blind himself.) His manipulation and lies are not the cause of his downfall, neither are his "human inadequacies", quite the contrary - it's his divine nature that creates a metaphysical blindspot - one he's been aware of all along. So his decisions are inexplicable by the information we currently have.
This is more than a loose end; it's clearly a setup for another series of novels in which we learn what the Thousandfold Thought really was, how it was always meant to go on beyond Kellhus's inevitable failure, and what the role of the Judging Eye was supposed to be in the coming Apocalypse.
Not sure what you mean about the events in the Appendixes that happen after the book ends - I've read through them thoroughly and don't remember anything of the sort.
