    Wow, this is a masterclass in how CZcams guitar reviews should work. Extremely thorough, researched, unbiased, and top-notch in terms of production value. Really excellent work, man!! Thanks for caring and being a voice of reason out here.

    Wow, I've never expected this review to talk about every detail of the guitar. I wish the other reviews on CZcams reached this level
    Thank you very much

    This is the best guitar review I’ve ever seen. Measured all the specs and touched on all important issues. Amazing job!

    I would suggest, to have two lists of penalty points- 1. important issues penalty and 2. minor problem penalty.
    Like, no gig bag and too many tools needed are of really minor importancy and could be noted with half points. While the rest of check points are more serious and get full fat negative points 😊

    Great review style. Easy to follow and I really like the highlight of what pickup(s) are in use. Thanks for efforts in enlightening us viewers.

    hello max,
    wonderful review, the very first for me. i purchased my 66bt last year, the red one but i never played because of the setting. in the morning i decided to set the instrument my way because the U.S. setting is dramatic. but in your video i found a lot more informations and specs. greetings from florence.
    thank you

    Ok, you seem to redeem it at the end. Looks like the best thing it has going for it is the sound and the look. What got me was the dropping down when you let it go. I'd imagine that would annoy me to no end lol. I wonder how many people still want to buy it after this review.

      I agree, that balance issue might be a deal-breaker on an otherwise beautiful baritone. I've been seriously considering the '66 BT for the past few weeks. I love the look and sound of Danelectros, but having the neck dive towards the ground every time I'm fiddling with a pedal would be infuriating.

    • @danielleinad6019
      @danielleinad6019 Před 11 měsíci

      I've got a 66BT and the neck dive is exhausting. It's a major design flaw. You can't play this guitar in a standing position without having to fight gravity with your fretting hand. Such a great sound, though. But in a live setting, this guitar is basically unplayable.

  • @h34dyl4m4rr
    @h34dyl4m4rr Před 2 lety

    the change to pao ferro was because of the abrupt rosewood ban that happen around the time. the OG specs were rosewood until they had to start manufacturing with a rosewood alternative. so the site is not up to date, but not technically incorrect as the model is normally built with a rosewood fretboard.
    (also i'm aware this video is around 2/3 years old but it should be mentioned/taken into account if it hasn't been already.)
    but all aside loved the video. very in-depth, knowledgeable review of this instrument.

    You're hands down the best in-depth reviewer on YT. Always great!
    All demos of this guitar sound like its loaded with very thin surf-twang oriented strings. I would love to hear how it sounds with thicker baritone strings and good tension!

    Not a guitarist but was interested in the Baritone guitar as I had not known of them or their sound until yesterday. Gotta say, your review and scoring made good sense and told me the kind of things I might want to know if trying to decide BETWEEN guitars. The sound of the baritones has me flirting with the idea of buying one, I like the dark and grungy as well as the moody almost ambient grooves they can produce. (Wonder what my Wife might think ... :) )

    I kind of take Lemmy’s approach with guitar’s to a certain extent. He said something “Does it look cool? If so, get it. All the other shit like pickups you can fix”. Although I would add that things like a crappy neck you can’t really fix. It sounds like all the problems with it are fixable. And it looks cool (well. Depending on taste, of course..)

    • @danielleinad6019
      @danielleinad6019 Před 11 měsíci

      The neck is the biggest issue with this guitar. The 66BT is probably the heaviest neck diver on the planet. You can't play this guitar without using your fretting hand to fight gravity. It's absurd. As good as the 66BT sounds, it's just a faulty design.

    Мне кажется из-за наличия f hole она будет знатно шуметь на перегрузе. Но 30 дюймов, да ещё и с таким уникальным звуком, определенно стоит внимания любителей super low (#theBunn wassap!)

    Thanks for the review. Curious how you would go about fixing the noise problems? Also, what kind of locking tuners upgraded would work best for this guitar?

    • @MaxSoloMusic
      @MaxSoloMusic  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi. Velcro helps with the headstock noise and tremolo springs. Any locking tuners will be an improvement

    Thats bad cause neck is not balanced with the body. Thanx for the review now I know I don't have to even think about that guitar :D

  • @jimberjamber8540
    @jimberjamber8540 Před 4 lety

    I feel like I'd be willing to deal with the neck dive. The other problems also seem like things i could figure out. A wilkinson trem on basically a bass vi sounds like a dream come true. Do you think installing a string tree and locking tuners would help tuning stability?

    • @MaxSoloMusic
      @MaxSoloMusic  Před 4 lety +2

      As a matter of fact, I'm using the 66BT for half a year now and didn't experience too many tuning problems. Locking tuners can definitely make it more stable but it happened to be pretty solid as is

    • @danielleinad6019
      @danielleinad6019 Před rokem

      I've got both, a 66BT and a Bass VI. They sound very different! The 66BT sounds like a giant bell or piano, while the Bass VI is more percussive, like a giant Marimbaphone, if that makes sense. I like both, actually. What surprises me is that the build quality is pretty much on a par, with the 66BT being a serious neck diver. The Squier VI is more balanced and costs half the price of a 66BT.

    Hello, first and foremost, thanks so much for the in depth review and insight into this beautiful baritone Danelectro!
    If you don’t mind me asking, what would you recommend I have done to my 66BT as far as a set up goes to improve on all those 11 points it’s accrued and make it stage ready?
    Thanks again and keep up the great work!

    When playing sitting on a chair everything is fine. But when standing on stage with a strap, the neck/head constantly tilts down and you have to correct with your left hand.
    What a bad design!
