I absolutely love the 159! One of my all time favourite pens. I fell in love with the heft & girth of it and then meatier pens in general, only then to find out that most 'meaty' fountain pens are well beyond my price range (Sailor KoP comes to mind!). So the 159 is probably my first and last 'big boy'.

What I like about this channel is the more subtle approach to asmr,
not just poking at the camera making weird noises with plastic rappers .so this is probably the best asmr channel by far.

I like my 159. Not my favorite, but I find I do use it often enough.
I always have a small microfiber cloth to clean the pen and nib after inking. It does so much better than a paper towel and you can use it for a long time and wash it. It gets all the ink off the section and nib.

Thank you for your videos. I return to the old ones time to time, but the fountain pen ones really are my favourite. I just bought a fountain pen for myself, I want to keep my handwriting muscles working as I write everything digitally on a keyboard or touch pad. Plus I got so interested in the mechanism of refillable ones and colored inks by you. I could use them for drawing too, which is a hobby that hopefully will get a new spark with these fun new mediums I’ve gotten. Good day, week and month of whenever this message reaches you ☺️
Good job on getting the fountain pen. Get out a notebook, turn on some peaceful music, or even silence everything around you, and just lay ink to paper. Write, doodle, tic tac toe, doesn't matter as long as the nib is gliding over the paper, as that is what it was created to do. Get the pen out regularly and you'll notice that your penmanship might be improving. Not worrying so much about making it look good while instead marveling in the fact that the nib gliding across the paper is transferring the invisible thoughts from within your brain and manifesting them in a very physical manner, out in the open in a very visual way, for anyone to see, you'll come to appreciate the power of the pen. You might even find that your breathing changes slightly and your heart rate goes down a few beats as you enter the zone while using your pen under the right conditions.

Montblanc's "Honore de Balzac" blue ink is as nice as Noodler's "Bay State Blue" but won't stain your pen. Something to consider if you ever buy a Montblanc pen. ;)
Also, a suggestion for cleaning the nib after filling the pen: Use a sopping-wet paper towel. That way you can wipe off the excess ink and the paper towel will be too saturated with water to draw-out any more ink from the slit on the top of the nib.

This is such a nice video. I have both pens. Jinhao 159 is a much better writer than MB. If there is a complaint about 159, it is that they lack standardization. I have 20 pieces of Jinhao 159, and only two of them did not write well out of the box. I had to doctor or nurse them a bit before they too started writing. Price is not necessarily the true index of quality. I have been using fountain pens for 65 years, and it is my conviction that most of the modern pens are terribly overpriced. [ In contrast the old Parker or Swan or Black Bird was both good and very reasonably priced.] Part of it may be due to the genuine high cost of living in the countries where they are made, but part of the pricing is surely to add to the snobbish element. Who in his right senses would spend $900 on a plastic tube, just because it has a gold nib? A good gold nib might be purchased separately and made to adorn other pens made of much better stuff than a mere resin tube..

Its not always the case but Different countries have different values of currency, so the 2$ profit from this pen in some countries is quite a bit

I hope all is well. I've been watching your videos for years and now my son has watch them to sleep as well. We both have taken an interest in foutain pens. I recently purchase a wearever foutain pen from ebay and unfortunately it was damaged with not being able to use at all. I was hoping and wondering if maybe I could send it to you for repairs and perhaps it would make a good asmr video. I can leave you my email address if you'd like. I don't like Chinese pens, their ink flow is terrible most of the time and the nib size, contrary to most Asian manufacturers, is one larger (at least it feels like it, I don't think an EF should be that thick). That said, Jinhao 51A is a pretty good pen for its price, but I tried a handful of Jinhao pens and that was the only good one.
In the end, you get what you pay for: a cheap pen. It may look and feel nice (not talking about writing experience), but it's still a cheap pen.
