    The Jungle = L.A.
The lead singer (Axle Rose) had just come in from a small midwest town and stepped off the bus, and entered literally a different world for him. Someone referred to L.A. as a jungle. But the song is also metaphor for the whole fast life style of a rock star compared to his simple upbringing - the parties, girls, drinking, drugs, bright lights etc.
This was the lead track on their debut album which was pure fire. Along with Boston's debut, this is one of the greatest debut showings of all time.
Two more must listen to tracks off this album: Mr. Brownstone and Night Train

It was talking about LA and the harsh reality of living there, especially during the 80's, and also the lifestyle of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. During a concert in 1988 Axl Rose sported an NWA had, showing them admiration & support. They met and partied together and became friends. They were supposed to go on tours together. During these times, it was unheard of for rock/metal groups to associate with rap artists, with exception to Run DMC & Aerosmith. It would have been awesome if they collaborated on a song or two together.

Not too many people know that when MTV was just starting ,1987 I believe, MTV said they weren't looking for hard rock and would not even consider Guns and Roses. Somehow their manager or someone got MTV to change their mind and gave them one slot 3am Mon morning (dead zone). When they played Welcome to the Jungle 10,000 calls came in at once and their switchboard got fire🤣🤣Also in Sweet Child of Mine, at the end of Slash's solo Axl said I don't know where to go from here and that became the lyrics.

Video was put on CZcams in 2009. This song dropped back in the late 80's.
I was in middle school and my buddy's big brother came to pick us up from school. He had this blaring on the car stereo. I was blown away. I was a big Iron Maiden and Judas Priest fan back then and GnR was something completely different and new. They really did change the face of the rock scene. They helped transition rock out of the hair metal era.

Axl Rose is from Lafayette, Indiana which is “po-dunk”.....Pretty sure this video is about his shock at what the dark & dirty side of LA was and how mentally and emotionally unprepared he was to see it. Keep in mind, LA was the center of the world for hair bands to go to (to “make” it).

Guys. This wasn’t 2009! This was 1988!!!!! Can you imagine! GnR was the band we lived our lives too. The rock n roll lifestyle. The road map of our years. Going out every night. Busting your ass in a dead end job to make enough money to get drunk with your mates, club and party every night… fucking as many girls as you could! Seeing as many bands as you could. Live music every night and clubbing til the next day. Crashing on a strangers floor. 3hrs sleep. Back to work. And do it all over again! That was rock n roll lifestyle 88’ 89’ 90’ 91’ 92’ 93’ Best tines of our lives!
