In one way, not a good sign that I had to find a video like this before starting with Signal - not as intuitive as WhatsApp for 'analogue' boomers like me, but probably worth the effort.
Why is there no icon on my iphone for the Signal app? I go to apple app store, it says "open", no download (I believe i have downloaded it in the past). It does open and I'm on it, but the only way to get to the app is thru the app store?

This is the second video I’ve seen that says the third and fourth screens allow you to enter a phone number. My third screen has a qr bar and I don’t have a phone that scans that. Those screens don’t appear in this app anymore. So how do I use it?

Why do people I text who using a different texting app than signal, never get my texts I've sent from signal to their main texting app? I'm confused as to what's going on. I get signal to signal is secure, but can't you bounce from signal messaging app to a differently messaging app? I'm on a galaxy s10+

Your video title and description did not say this tutorial was for iPhone. On Android (I don't know about iPhone) group chats are not nearly as intuitive as Whatsapp. Half the time I cannot even find previous groups I made (e.g. composing a message, choosing a person to send to, does not list all the groups that person is a member of). Unless I am missing something, adding and deleting members to groups is also convoluted. Don't get me wrong, Signal is my go to messaging app and I am glad to have completely departed from Whatsapp, but there is some simplicity with the app that I miss.

Possible dumb question alert: If it's open source... couldn't that mean that anybody, with a good sense of coding, could program some code to make 'Signal' not so secure?
Software engineer here, you cannot add code easily. Creators of Signal will surely review your code before adding your code.
Anyone can read the source code, make copies (depending on licensing), and propose changes, but any alterations are approved by the Signal team and can't be added otherwise. People being able to read the code means more people can find security issues, bugs, improvements in efficiency/features, etc. It makes apps more secure in the long run.

I tested signal for a few minutes but i really didn't like it because it is similar to whatsapp app. Telegram is much better because there're lot of features and also better design.

But telegram doesn't have e2ee by default it's there only for secret chats and that too the encryption is close sourced.

I'd suggest to scan the apk with an antivirus before installing. Also check if the source (from which you download the apk) is reliable.

Totally like the video. Since now there has been a choice between the 3 messaging apps. It totally depends on the use by the people. As far as I have seen, for business chats and talk use signal app. For other things u can use whatsapp or telegram. Since people are using facebook messenger and instagram as well. In these chats and profiles are not that safe. So don't know why people are stop using whatsapp because of chats issue or that your profile is being public. Since facebook has full control over whatsapp now its there choice to control over it. Still chats are end to end encrypted. But people are concerned about other things.
So Its totally up-to your choice that u use any of these messaging apps.
