Lots of people work till they die and some even die from overworking. It's like there is almost no time to enjoy life, create new things and enjoy companionship with others.
idk, bright's immortality is alot better than the end of death immortality, since his bodies actually DO die, so hes never stuck in some mangled corpse, just a gem

I guess that's why in middle earth death is considered a gift of men.
They shouldn’t have left Aman then.

Elves, while ageless, could still die of injury (with their spirits flirting back to Mandos for potential resurrection many years later).

"The foundation would never let this happen" *looks at SCP 5000*
To be fair, the cause of 5000 is so incomprehensible and far out of reach that the idea for the project that led to it doesn't even exist in their "main" timeline.
@Bin Apparently, whatever they find in the collective unconsciousness was bad enough that both the O5 _and_ the Ethics Committee agreed with 682's view on the world. Either it was an Apollyon class cognitohazard, or it was something so fundamentally wrong with humanity itself that they decided it was better to scrap it altogether. Moral of the story: immortality is cool untill all the people in earth have it and their future children have it too
Functional Immortality is cool (the idea that you won't age and cannot die from natural causes) because the option is still technically there.
Absolute Immortality, where the option of death disappears entirely, is a nightmare. Especially assuming one still ages and dismemberment/physical damage causes pain that cannot kill.
Immortality would be far more tolerable if you had godhood to go with it.
In functional immortality death eventually cathes up with you
Think of the population number, we will literally overpopulate the entirety of every land on Earth in a matter of years unless we have a lower birth rate in exchange for immortality
Longevity for the win.

My personal theory with this one has always been that the akot caused the end of death with their time travel shenanigans. This SCP and how it ends is what removed death, in my head canon at least.

Imagine being in this reality and being one of the people that left into space, but your ship is sucked into a star and you have to endure that for billions of years
Or you end up getting eaten up by a black hole.
And did death only end on earth or did it end everywhere, cause if it ended everywhere then space would probably be full of billions of aliens doing what the humans are doing.
@@lilahdog568 It probably ended everywhere. One dumb test subject and one Incredibly Fucking Stupid O5 literally murdered Capital D Death. That’s a bit ironic, isn’t it? I don’t want the wiki to end anytime soon, but I know that it will, inevitably.
I've had a thought of how the Acot could fix the immortality situation temporarily
They could try and transfer the conscience of each person into a robotic brain and body and simulate death by periodically wiping the memory of each person; they could also potentially simulate eating, breathing, sex child birth etc. This might be able to fix the insanity via immortality problem.
That IS an interesting idea, though it does raise a new potential problem in the form of a... I don't know what the term would be exactly, but I believe the closest is an existential crisis. How many times have you 'died'? What were you like before? How long have you done this? Does anyone remember how this started? Is forgetting everything, and everyone, less or as dark as never dying? While it's subjective, I do think this could, theoretically, be at the very least a short-term solution.
this is why i want to be 'immortal' with an escape-route

There’s “The Things That Came from Winter Hill”: czcams.com/video/4KBGDTX98Z8/video.html
If you don’t know the story of the real Winter Hill in England, I highly recommend you wait until after you hear the story before looking it up. That’s what I did, and it gave me huge goosebumps
i will never understand why people want immortality as a superpower. it just seems so terrifying. you will outlive everyone you’ve ever known. you will watch the world change, and eventually end, and still have to exist. eventually our galaxy will collide with andromeda. you will still exist. that is horrifying.
That’s the fun part
I don't think the Andromeda collision is going to be all that bad for life on Earth. Space is big, and galaxies are most empty space (the nearest star to the sun is 4.3 light years away), so chances are we won't run into anything.
It will be beautiful though.
You do a fantastic job on your scripts, and have a marvelous narrating voice. I love re-listening to your content when I want to relax, or just while cooking or cleaning. Your videos are my absolute favorite ways to experience the SCP Universe.
I listen to these when I'm at work or need to calm down and relax. It's ironic, hearing stories about world ending threats, eldritch abominations, and horrible ways to die calms me. The way he narrates though, is the calming effect.
