Love these videos where your husband joins you - so informative! He is adorable! He has same expression my husband has in situations like this - the “I’m going to do this because I love her, but really wish I didn’t have to” look. 😂
I kind of picked up on that energy too! I agree, your hubby is adorable. It is always interesting to hear his perspective on things, and it's good to know there is a reason for everything that happens on a flight. BTW, I always book a window seat (and I always pay the extra to choose a seat with a bit more leg room), and I like the shades open. I feel better if I know what is going on around me, and the light helps me read better. I read paperbacks on a flight, I don't read from a screen, so the light helps my aging eyes.
So true-he’s so much more animated when teaching.
Ooh I too have to read paper!
I love it when your husband answers flying questions. He’s such a good sport! I, too, hate turbulence so I’m excited to watch that video.
I like the flights when the pilot gives updates. Once during The World Series we got game updates. Thanks to all the pilots and flight attendants that get us safely to our destinations!
That is cool they did that but how if they should be flying and not watching TV or listening to something?
@@lovedfriend2020 I think they got updates radioed in. At least that is my guess.
@@shellykzookzoo5922 As long as they are safe doing so :) I know the flight crew wants to stay up at 10,000 so they get paid! The next time I fly I should just give them $5 just "for being them" and doing a great job!
@@lovedfriend2020 I give a big bag of chocolates to them when I board the plane. They work hard and sometimes with difficult people/passengers. I just want them to know they are all appreciated.
I love that too! And it takes 5 seconds
turbulence is just potholes in the sky. annoying, but the plane is built to deal with it.
Our friend is a pilot for major airline. He said they have FOUR pilots on long flights to Asia and Dubai so they can trade off to rest.
Another really useful Q+A ❤. It never occurred to me that passengers can ask to speak to the pilot (I wouldn't dream of interrupting them, no need for me to it).
I always request an aisle seat. I also always have a check-in suitcase. I'm short, not physically strong, and unless travelling with another I won't risk fighting with an overhead locker. My carry-on goes under the seat and contains my essentials.
Window opened all the way! I love to watch out of the window to a view you don't see every day ❤
Love the "ask a pilot videos" they are informative and helpful. I'm afraid of flying, but I love to travel.
Thanks for including your husband in another video; I love to fly & appreciate learning about his responsibilities & activities. I’m a dedicated window person & usually book the extra space seats as they are closer to the front of the plane. I’m flexible about the shade but I do like it up at night to see the town lights.😊
Thanks! I did not know about the chimes.
I just assumed it meant we could use computers.
I really enjoy watching you and your husband pilot answering all the questions so clearly. The way he does it, makes me more comfortable when flying.
Hi Laurie! I have watched at least 20 of your videos before and after our vacation to Playa del Carmen, Mexico. I just love them. You always give great advice, and you are a joy to watch and to listen to.
Love these videos Laurie! Thank you.
Thanks for doing this video. I love to travel but have flight anxiety I’m trying to work through. This was helpful - thanks to your hubby too :)
Geez, this is SO helpful. Thanks so much.
Your hubby is a gem! I fly quite a lot, but learned things I didn’t know. Thanks to hubby!!
Oh thank you!
I used to be afraid to fly until we took off in the middle of a thunder storm and had a beautiful flight above the clouds and I could pry my white knuckled hands off the armrests!! Because of vertigo I do have trouble when we are banking but I just dont look out the window then. Thanks and props to the hubs for doing this for you and us, he's very calming. I wish I could have given you an extra thumbs up for the kiss at the end 🥰
Yes I get white knuckled too!
Really appreciated this! Thanks to your husband , the pilot!!
Thanks for listening!
Love this content. Shed some light to my own questions when flying. Great video.
Loved this! He explains things so well!
I agree
Love these videos. Very informative. Thanks to you and your husband!
New to your channel and enjoying all your content. I’m suuuuper terrified of flying but I love traveling. These topics of yours put me at ease somewhat.
I haven't flown long before COVID, so I appreciate these tips to calm my nerves.
Really enjoy info videos from your hubby. Nice to hear directly from the pilot. Y'all are so adorable
Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing. 👍
Looking forward to the turbulence vid for sure! I like for the window shade to stay open so I can see what's going on out there because I have such high anxiety hahahaa but I prefer the aisle seat, back near flight attendants. If they are casually talking, laughing, working then I feel less anxiety.I can get up more easily to go use restroom or walk off some of that fear and anxiety.
That's exactly how I feel...lol! 💯
Great video!!! You and your husband are such a great team, and he is soooo supportive of your career. Cheers
He has been!
I love this question time! So many sounds are just background noise to me, so I’ve never noticed a lot of these questions; I guess it’s like what goes on backstage.
Thank you for the helpful and interesting video!
Very, very helpful.
Thank you!
Thank you so much for this great vidéo!
Wonderful. Thank Thank you!
It is great to hear first hand from the Pilot. Thank you both, love your vlogs.🥰
I enjoy your videos. I used some of your suggestions our trip to the UK last year . I only took a carry on and personal item for 1 month. I am packing again for 5 weeks but checking a bag. I love the connection between you and your husband. ❤
I would do that too!
I can’t wait for the turbulence video! I’m always super nervous.
Great info!
Really helpful info
Thank you
This was a great video! I have wondered about several of those things that your husband just very clearly answered. The information about the required rest periods for pilots is very interesting, and reassuring for the traveler! PS: Your husband is kind of camera shy ... so cute!
Thank you for this video - I’m one of those afraid of flying so this is a big help!
Thank you Captain! Good info!
Thank you!!!
Love your hubby! He seems like such a sweetie!
Thank you both so much for this PSA. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼☺️📢
I’m looking forward to the turbulence video, thank you for doing this!
Nice tie tacks. Thanks for answering questions.
Thanks again! I enjoy doing these.
Thank you!
Thanks guys!
Great information
I love these videos, it makes it more comfortable to fly. I wish all airlines were like Southwest for seating!
Love when you husband shares his expertise! I cracked up about the weight restriction on bags comment! Y’all are great!! ❤
I think those airlines are trying to make passengers check luggage. Now, we all know their plan lol.
I just became a new subscriber and love your informative and very helpful travel tips. Thank you for all your wonderful videos!!
Welcome aboard!
Thanks very much to both of you
xoxo your channels as very informative .
Love this video content. Hurry with the turbulence video. Flying soon!
Aisle seat always for me!
Yay team go-to-the-bathroom-often!
I know taller people also like aisle for leg room and bathroon but I HATE the aisle seat with a passion as get bumped and nudged by the cart as well as passengers getting up. I am not that large or broad hanging over the side aisle. I can never rest there and it never fails. I love the window seat to lean on and can actually sleep on eight your flights.
Wooooo Hooooo! more Q&A from the hubby. He’s such a sweetie!! And these are great questions!!!
I love it when y’all send the qus!
What I've never understood is why someone would pick a window seat and then pull the shade down! I've had to sit in the back of the plane with ZERO windows and the guy up ahead pulls the shade down. I'm claustrophobic and it drives me crazy.
Window seat is wider than middle and aisle seats on some planes - CRJ200, 737-800, and 737-900 among them. I usually leave the window open because I love looking out (I always get a window seat), but when I flew on Monday, the sun was glaring into my eyes for most of one of my flights (window seat on R side of plane, flying east in the morning), so I had it closed most of the way (about 2" open at the bottom) for most of that flight, which also allowed me to get a nap in because I was exhausted.
True but some like standby passengers may not choose that seat. I can see my screen better with the shade down.
Thanks 🎉
What a wonderful interview! Thanks to you and your husband.
Thanks for watching!
Helpful info! I’m happy you will be making a Fear of Flying video!
I linked it right below the video in the paragraph.
Thank you. Will watch!
Thank you for having your husband as a guest to answer questions. His knowledgeable information was a treat.
This was such an informative interview! Thanks for sharing! You two make such a cute couple!❤️
Hope his pilot experiences help.
Thank you both….I really enjoyed this info. ✈️ I love to travel! 😘
It’s such a treat
So helpful to hear what he has to say!! Thanks a lot! We r heading to Europe in two weeks for a Viking cruise and his info is very helpful!
Oh how exciting! Here is a video that may help: bit.ly/NotForget2Pack4RiverCruise
You and Hubble are so cute. Good questions and answers.
Love when pilots tell me when and how long turbulence is expected! I’m not as “alarmed” .
I really love that they had casual but chic options for my style on vacation.
Love your videos
Thanks Tina!
These videos are so great, thanks so much. And by the way...aisle seat all the way!
😂 Okay!
My thanks to your husband for participating in the videos. Together you present very useful information! 😊
Aww, I love this video of you now, including your husband ❤ Guess they see how you've made it here on CZcams. Bet they are proud of you.
I always love your videos for yrs now.
I like the aisle seat.
Isle and seat for me! I like the window open.
Great questions and reassuring answers. Thank your adorable husband for answering them and being kind to scared passengers, his demeanor is helpful I am sure.
You're welcome!
I enjoyed watching this video very much. Your husband would definitely calm jittery passengers with his demeanor. 😊
Very interesting thank you! Looking forward to the video about turbulence because I'm not a fan - always makes me feel queasy!
I like the window and I like to look out!!!
Love the Q &A’s with your husband😄. I fly 2-3X a month and almost always pick a window seat. (Open)
Hie ! Thanks Laurie for the great youtube videos 🥰🫂❤️ Took my first airplane flight last month (April 15th) I was ready, I was less stressed and I was able to give infos to my older sister before our flight too. We had 2 more after that, we were almost pros, Ahahah. It’s always fun and helpful how you explain it. Thanks again Laurie!
This kind of trip makes me so happy!
Hi, we love your channel and have learnt loads. We are going on a West Coast trip soon, can't wait. We love your country. Denise
Have fun!
This was delightful… thank you for having your husband on… always happy to learn things from a different perspective
To those who close the window shade, book an aisle seat please. Thank you!
😂
I respect what pilots do for us and our safety. When I leave my flight I always take the time to thank the pilot for a safe flight. My husband is a Veteran who learned how to become a helicopter mechanic and eventually became a helicopter pilot. After servicing for a full career in the Army he now works for EMS he calls himself a fancy air taxi driver. He has flown helicopters now for more than 25 years of experience. He does two weeks on two weeks off with the flight crew paramedics and nurse.
That is a great name! Thank him for all of his service from me and my family!
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie thank you
Please more pilot and crew q and a . Excellent
What questions do you have about crew?
Gosh I love these videos! I always wonder what they see out the windshield while up in the air. Birds, clouds?
Yes and yes. He wears very strong sunglasses.
thanks for this. I used to be a panicky flyer. I overcame when I had to fly to see my grandchild. I especially liked learning what the chimes mean.
Hi any more questions that he can answer for you!
you are an adorable couple...& knowledgeable xo ❤ s
I sit in aisle so I don't have to disturb anyone. Love window open even if I'm not sitting there.
Thank you Chris :) and wifey of course ;)
Our pleasure!
5:50 😂 good one!
Thanks!!!
That was great information. You two are sweet!❤
I have that green blouse, too! I love it.
It’s going to be a classic!
You forgot to ask about Chem-Trails! ;)
Excelent!! i’m a FF and i learned a lot 🌷
Thanks!!
The two of you are sooooo cute!
Great video! And great information! Thank you! I never knew the pilots controlled the cabin temperature. Who knew?
I didn't know that either, until last week, when the FA came to our row and asked how the temp was, we told her, and she said she'd tell the pilot to turn it down. Until then, I had thought it was a standard setting across all planes.
Thank you, you two! Fun info!
Thanks so much for listening!
I was on a plane yesterday and was wondering some of these things! I noticed the chimes and was wondering what they meant.
So cute
Lithium batteries. The person with the speech device, it might have a larger lithium battery. There are restrictions on those in cabin. Great video, thanks!
Had a bit of turbulence on Monday (but what can you expect, flying over the Rockies and unusually windy Great Plains and Midwest?), and although it was gentler than a lot of the turbulence we normally get, at one point - I think it was over Nebraska, or maybe South Dakota - the plane hit a small dead spot and dropped a bit in the air enough to definitely feel it, but it was totally no big deal because I know planes are so overengineered to deal with it perfectly fine; honestly, it was a rather fun moment - reminded me of some of my favorite rides at Camp Snoopy. At another point, the wind was such that the wing was bouncing up and down hard enough to shake the plane, and, once again, I knew it was perfectly fine and there was nothing to worry about because of the overengineering.
Turns out, I could have gotten away with bringing my little 16.5" suitcase, because the bugle case I got today is almost small enough to fit in my backpack (and it's actually the exact case designed for my exact bugle model - that match was not on purpose), and I'll be rigging it somehow (probably just a carabiner) to attach to my backpack on Friday when I fly home, because it's actually too small _(waaay_ too small) to fit on the front of my chair. But the person at the music store was confident that this little padded bugle bag would be enough protection for in the overhead bin as long as a suitcase didn't get set on top of it (which I will make sure won't happen) - I was adamant that I needed something to protect it in the overhead, and asked him multiple times whether it would be padded enough for takeoff and landing, since luggage shifts during those, and he said it would be, but that, if for whatever reason it didn't end up working, I could exchange it. It takes up about the same amount of space as my flute case, so it'll be a pretty even exchange in July when I fly home after camp. Still glad I didn't bring the suitcase, though - it was _soo nice_ having to deal with only my backpack on Monday, because I didn't have to lift a bag into the overhead, just my wheelchair cupholder, cushion, and motor.
Yes sounds like it can easily fit in between luggage and I would not think it would be jarred at all.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie Got home not too long ago, and it arrived relatively unscathed (it got one good small dent because someone shoved his backpack against it, but it's not enough to affect the sound, so I'm not worried - it's not like it was in pristine condition to begin with). Now I have 3 months to practice before camp. _Soooo_ glad I didn't bring the suitcase - I was basically gone from the airport before they'd even put the suitcases through the baggage claim openings, and I would have been all the way gone before they did if I hadn't had to brush snow off the car before I left.
YES - TURBULENCE video please!! I leave on May 8th for a 10 hour 30 minute flight to London, so that video would really help. It's the only thing that bothers me about air travel! I've been on some pretty rough flights over the years.
I don’t like turbulence either Amrita……but I believe in Jesus Christ……and this so helps me…..I will be praying for you on the 8th May…..that He will help you too! God bless you and may He give you a great flight! X
@@jillram7659 Thank you Jill - that's very kind of you!
Oh nice!!! It should be in the paragraph below the video.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie Sorry but I don't see anything in the paragraphs below this video about turbulence. You mentioned in this video that at a later date you would do a video about turbulence. That would be great! Thanks!
@@amritawhitman8112 Ugh I get so mad at myself. I thought I put it down here; maybe it is in the I cards that pop up. Thanks for letting me know. Here it is: bit.ly/NotBeScaredToFly
I want the window open please.....love seeing our beautiful world.
It’s so pretty until I’m trying to watch something on my phone lol
