  • Even though the game is in late-game slowdown, I can't walk away from it. I've got things to do as Mexico, especially as the daggers are drawn in Europe...
I keep my mod list in the #victoria3 channel on my Discord.

Great run I really enjoyed hearing your commentary on Mexican history. I really appreciate the genuine enthusiasm for historical possibilities you bring to your playthroughs. It’s something I personally feel is the strongest part of Victoria 3 and I like how you bring that to the forefront in your videos. Looking forward to first run in 1.7!

Yes, I really want to see if the new mechanics in that DLC do the trick for managing nations without having to annex them.

I totally agree with you and your opinions on wages and workers rights. People who really want to “make America great again” should realize that the only time America has been great is when workers and poor people were being empowered by the government.

The 1950s and 1960s, considered to be peak years for the USA's middle classes, are also peak years for unionized labor and when executive compensation was a much lower multiple of employee compensation.

    "Except I don't play HoI4"
If you know much about inter-war and WW2 history, I'd be interested to see your commentary on HoI4.

I stopped playing HoI4 in 2018 after I did a run as Bolivia where I attacked Paraguay - had no causus belli to do the Chaco War, so it triggered US intervention. Then I declared war on Germany after it invaded Poland and that merged the USA into the Axis in 1939. Peace deals were always a nightmare and I realized that the main feature I played with in the Chinese DLC was the German focus tree that let me bring back the Kaiser so I could try to make HoI4 into Victoria 2.5... Focus trees drive me up the wall and the game is heavily tilted towards a historical chain of events, or everything just breaks. It had focus trees for the Baltic States before Italy got fixed up. It honestly should not be moving on an hour-by-hour time scale. If it moved in monthly or even weekly clicks, I think it would work better as a grand strategy game.

Woah the vic3 ending screen bug is hilarious. Implies the game gets so unplayable late game that QA testers never reached the it often :P

Yeah, or they got to the end and never re-loaded it to have another look. In a sense, my getting to that bug shows that it's more playable than it was in October of 2022. Hopefully, we get more progress in that regard, like a button we can smash that clears out all the onesy-twosy populations. I had thousands of pop groups of 8 people or less at the end. All those CPU cycles for a long tail of pops needs to be abstracted out. It's for playability's sake.

Since you’re a Texas resident, have you considered a Texas play through? It’s a hard start, but I’m sure you’ll make it a superpower somehow

Lots will change in 1.7, so I plan a USA run next, to test it all out.
