My Akko Mod 007v2 full Review and Modding Guide!
This keyboard is awesome and really packs an amazing value for the price! Truly an end game worthy keyboard.
It does suffer from some minor problems and in this modding guide, I will teach you how to resolve these problems.
AKKO is an innovator, really happy that they are stepping up their game and providing us with keyboards like the MOD007v2!

So true, If you're too down the rabbit hole there isn't a real end game. Thanks for an excellent video. Am typing this on a modded Akko Mod 7V2 and it is a excellent and accesible. I don't believe that spending more monney on a so called better board would create a tangibly better experience as we would begin to hit diminishing returns. Keeop up the great work! :)

Great stuff just what I needed to make a decision. Too bad all the current mainstream / budget friendly 75% keyboards with encoders each have something to make them fall short of being perfect (q1 knob, gmmk pro and akko)
Great review - this would be a great alternative to the GMMK Pro but for me QMK/VIA should be offered on all new boards these days.

Just want to add that Akko now sells PCB with per key flex cut, south-facing for $30. No LEDs because of the flex cuts and it still uses Akko's own software but apparently, there's a VIA/QMK compatible version on the way. It's compatible with the MOD 007 v1, v2, 007Sv2, and the MonsGeek M1
Nice review! Just got the MOD007S V2 with the same ASA PBT keycap! However, I do notice the typing sound is quite high pitched, which also shows up in your video. Changing to a third party OEM keycap make it sounds lower. I’m a bit confused as I heard SA has the deepest sound due to it being the tallest. Since ASA is taller than OEM, the SA supposed to sound deeper. This leads me to think that the Akko ASA keycap are too thin that’s why it sounded high pitch? Too bad since I loved the keycap color, but not the sound of it. I’m in full stock now. I will do tape mod, lube the switch (Boba LT, again a low pitch sounding switch), insert poron switch pad, force break mod and case mod. My goal is to make a muted and deep sounding keyboard..
That's a very detailed review, it's one of the reasons I'm almost ready to buy the 007 v2. I still have a few questions if you don't mind answering them.
Can you replace the default lighting profiles with custom profiles?
And if so, can you save it into the onboard memory, or is it only controlled by software? I mean, is the keyboard going to remember my custom lighting profiles if I plug it into another computer that doesn't have the Akko software?

they said this even sa V1. I think Akko have reasons why they are maintaining the north facing PCB
@@ThockyDocKey there’s no reason to want south facing if I’m using ASA Akko keycaps right? I like how the leds don’t directly show under the keycaps on my brother’s MOD007 v2.
@@unkkit151 yup, if you’re not into cherry profile then you are good
I think the reason why they're maintaining the north facing LED layout is due to their keycap sets not needing this workaround. Newcomers will be incentivized to go with an all Akko setup instead of finding specific switches that have no interference.

I really do want VIA/QMK compatibility. Because of the Akko proprietary configuration software, the keymap customisation is a bit limited such as Fn, Alt, etc, and the software response is slower than VIA.
Except the cons, my MOD 007 (with Lavender Pruple switch and MT3 ABS keycaps) is the best 75% keyboard for me.
Yeah! VIA compatibility would be the icing on this board! Hope they do that soon
Their software sucks and I won't buy anything from them until they drop their crappy software in favor of VIA.

Have you tried using the PC plate with silicon gaskets? Want to know if its better than PC plate with poron gaskets?
Yes both are good. Different type feel and sound.
I prefer before the poron. Now i preger the silicon hehe

How is the build quality and how heavy is the case?
Dont have exact weight but its heavy and sturdy. Has good heft to it

I dont have my q1 anymore but I added my quick thoughts on the subject at the end of this video.
I think they are very close in terms of value, it will boil down to preference in the end

Why do people see north-facing led as a flaw when it's actually just a preference/trade-off: possible interference vs nicer light shine through on many keycaps. Most of the swiches don't even suffer the interference in the first place, and I prefer nort-facing over the south since I never have issues with the interference so it's better than south for me.
always a preference in this hobby. Like for me i love cherry keycaps and I get a lot of interference. I dont like RGB too. so that's why i prefer south facing pcb

hello brother, this was not a paid unit. i purchased this. at the time of the review those boards were good and I consider them end game for the price range.
things have changed so much since then and these boards are not part of my recommendations to date.
