Don't lie detectors work by like detecting spikes in heart rate or breathing? If so it's understandable why having to answer such a loaded question would do that.

@@sirrivet9557 They don't work at all, have never worked, and are not allowed in court rooms as a result, despite still being relied upon constantly by federal agencies.
      BUT
That is what they claim they do, yes. Breathing, sweat, fidgeting, heart rate. And that "getting a baseline" (your normal amount of these when telling the truth) is what makes them function.
      All bogus.

Yes, it’s things that can change, based on just a person having a mild headache, moment of forgetfulness, etc.
The expert, that I got to see talk about them, basically said that the odd thoughts people have, when in a weird situation, like being hooked to a machine to detect lying, will taint any results, regardless of whether one believes the method can show if someone is lying or not.
      Heart rate increases are normal.
He didn’t believe the science, behind the tech, actually works.
Most people can be trained to be calm enough, or to just m work themselves up and act weird, to make any of the readings one looks at, to not match any lie or truth, from a yes or no question.

It was ridiculously easy to beat the lie detector, when I was the guinea pig in a college class.
The teacher had a guy come in, who used to do them for the FBI, back when a lie detector still held weight with a majority of law enforcement and the general public.
First round he told me to be truthful, so he could establish the base line, then he said to try to deceive him, after several silly questions.
I then asked him if we could start over, after I went through the set of questions with which I was supposed to lie during. He agreed, and I had nearly the same results for both tests, only I said the opposite for every question. So, after he asked me to be truthful, I lied every question, then when he said to try to fool him, I never lied.
His results were ridiculous, and he asked if I did some type of martial arts, where I learned to control my pulse. 😆
He looked at me, like I was a Sociopath or something, because he had asked if I had ever committed a crime, which I lied about the first time, but then I was truthful when he threw it in the second round, which were nearly all new questions.
His results showed me being truthful, except for when I purposely lied about some dumb things, like my eye color, my height, whether my mother was alive and a few others.
I had been told by a Vietnam Veteran, who had worked with Detectives, that the lie detector was bunk from the first one built, and were especially stupid to use, when someone has gone through anything traumatic, or anything that would increase or decrease adrenaline.

It's funny because I thought "polygraphs are inaccurate" was common knowledge. Like every cop show on Earth talks about how polygraphs are useless non-evidence

Lie detectors don't detect lies, they detect nervousness about one's answer.
I also think that the gender and age of the operator (unlikely to be someone who would be open to her nuanced answer) probably didn't help.

  • @dynamicgecko1213

If you listen to the whole interview, she also says that if there was a way to reproduce without men, she would send them to another planet. And that men would "love it". When the detector detects "lie" in rhis clip, it might very well be true in her head, except for a small list of men in her life.
She clearly has some history of of trauma and/or abuse and has disproportionate feelings about men. She herself talks about her past trauma sometimes. She built defense mechanisms but still is very biased, understandably. But therefore I wouldnt take her persepective as a guide.

Patriarchy is a system that impacts everyone in it, coercing them to support the current structure through various means, thus anyone in it can be supporting the system even without being aware of it. It can often be "easier" for the average person to go along with the current system than to depart from it or fight against it.
