  • I compiled some videos and photos of my race to make this recap video. The vast majority of which was from the start and first 6 miles of the race where spectating was possible and conditions were calm. Most of the rest of the race was in the dark with winds blowing from all directions 20+ mph and waves/tidal currents from all directions too. There were some downwind sections but also ama-side and upwind as well. @Seventy48 was every bit the challenge I expected and prepared for, but definitely not the 70 mile downwinder I started to hope for as the wind forecasts got closer 😆
📷🎥: Matt Sun, Bo Chun Fook, Seventy48, Jeremy Johnson, OverTacoma, Ali Kearney, Patrick Hwang, and maybe others? So hard to keep track of them all but thank you 🙏

    SPOCC!
How do you do this race with no support? How to carry enough food/water? Do you stop to rest, or is it non-stop?

You just have to bring everything with you on your paddle craft that you might need. Technically you can stop and go to stores or restaurants along the way but they are few and hard to get to. It just has to be available to everyone else. So I didn’t stop because I wanted to compete and have a faster time and challenge myself. But you have 48 hours to complete it so you can stop to rest or even camp along the way if you want. But lots of us just paddle straight through non stop. I brought several camelbak bladders of water strapped down and a few PBJ sandwiches and some bars/gels etc.

@@MKearney Thanks for the reply. My teammate is going to do it next year and I was just looking for more info. I might give it a go as well. Looks like top finishers are like...12-14hrs. Which is insane, but not as long as I thought it would be. Not like I can do it that fast, but gives some perspective on it. I literally thought you paddled for 48hrs straight.

Commentary would have been better than music. As it is I skipped almost all of the video. Sorry.
