My buddy renamed his Holiday Punch to "Laugh Zatoichi"
Aw, that's clever.
On this night, January 6th 2023, I give you your 100th like.
Mine is named after the guy I mitten dueled
@@madcat789 one day after my birthday 👍
I named my half zat the "full zatoichi" and the description is "it's just better"
dont forget that if you somehow manage to let the slowest class in the game get behind you and into melee range in order to be able to stun you, its kind of your own fault.
Random crit
@@ArkhamMaster. yes, because random crits are fair and balanced
@@JackNick2000 truly one of the balance decisions ever
@@ArkhamMaster.
That's still letting the slowest class in the game into melee range. When you can just walk away.
@@ArkhamMaster. If Heavy gets a random crit on you with a melee weapon, you're probably already dead anyway.
If you use the holiday punch you’re either a hoovy or trying to be sneaky to be a fat spy.
i love denying ubers with it it is the most funny way to stop ubercharges
@@PegasisterRejuvenated the amount of rage medics get because some guy commited holiday punch on you
Or you're an actual spy, and you're disguising as a hoovy so you can trick people in to letting you get behind them
@@UH-60_Blackhawk and with kritzkrieg, you beat regular uber push while still having +25% extra charge rate
This weapon is meta on dustbowl.
I personally call the holiday punch “giggly gloves”
Giggity
I’m buying a strange on and naming it that
@@skifity ayyy, that’s exactly what I did, I even put “taunt kills” on it. : )
I named mine the “schidy slack”
I just named "santa's personal basher" without even thinking about it
It’s genuinely fascinating, how much there is to dissect with a weapon that seems so simple on the surface, keep up the good work Mr.Funny Fishman!
Meta-analysis is never a shallow endeavor.
Honestly, if you allow yourself to get snuck up on by the slowest class in the game, you fully deserve to get a Pootis POW-flavoured backstab right in the tucus.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Expect when your a medic making a push and the heavy just walk up and the RNG telling you to go F yourself
The “/“ I set as my killbind:
the slowest, largest and most unsneaky class in the game, i can't even be mad
So that’s probably WHY it’s accepted by the community, because it actually is YOUR fault for basically letting it happen. It’s genius!
Not to mention they have their own battle to deal with involving the game's absolutely crap melee hitreg in particular, AND the multiple specificities the holiday punch needs to work (enemy must be on ground, not taunting, etc.) And they need to be sneaky on top of everything else for it to work usually at all. They well deserve the tauntkill they're likely about to pull off.
I remember pulling this off in a competitive lobby, I had been trying to get the stun all game, constantly dying because everyone knew what I was doing. I finally got one soldier on the cart who wasn't paying attention, and the entire enemy team stopped what they were doing to watch me taunt kill the soldier. They didn't shoot me at all until the taunt was complete.
The Lobby: Be polite, be professional and let the ritual complete.
Well it's considered polite (and funny) to let someone pull off a taunt kill. Especially against your sniper. I mean if you don't let a scout launch him to the other side of 2-fort with a bat, you don't have a soul!
Server: "The sacrifice has begun"
@@5upertnt_ng73 I understood that reference
@@_TeaForTwo i literally have no idea what reference that is, but thanks anyways :]
The closest we are ever gonna get to good weapon academy
pretty sure that
"i was wrong about the quickybomb launcher" is closer
That would be cool
@algumber Or Jarate lmao
Anyone that even suggests that Jarate isn't Sniper's strongest tool (yes, even stronger than any Rifle) is insane.
Jarate is frankly OP.
@@Eye_Of_Odin978 I remember someone in the wrap assassin video saying that the strongest sniper weapon wasn't jarate, it was the cozy camper lol, pretty sure that guy didn't watch more than 10 seconds of the jarate video
maybe the "in defense of" series
The holiday punch is still the funniest thing in the game.
I don't know. Although it requires a group effort, a fish free-for-all or demopan duel will always be funnier to me
@@kosmikme demopan is beyond funny
it's hilarious
If you get flanked by heavy, you can literally blame it on nobody but yourself.
A heavy at MELEE RANGE lol
yea holiday punch looses to all the things people are doing already because there do be spies.
@@kR-qj7rw If these gloves were on demoknight that would be a different story, but being the slow russian is a whole thing altogether.
Fat spy is officially has highest skill ceiling in the game.
I'm surprised you only mentioned Uber Stuffing at the very end as a half-joke, I personally consider it to be the most useful part of the weapon, in casual mode where crits are enabled, you're gonna die against an uber anyways so might as well try to stuff it
"I can't stop you, so I'll mildly inconvenience you until someone else does"
_--using the Holiday Punch against an uber_
Bc then you’d have to make a real comparison and argument between the gloves, the scorch shot (which can stuff ubers on consecutive direct hits), airblast, stickyspam (on lighclasses) and all the other bs that stuffs ubers
And this is supposed to be a video defending the gloves
@@davidhong1934 What? If you get the medic the uber is wasted
Also the unless you ambush them, your relying on rng to stuff a Uber on melee weapon on heavy, so it kinda of a gambit
@@davidhong1934 by "midly inconvenience" you mean completely stop a uber-push, and possibly get two people killed, including a medic?
The Holiday Punch is a weapon I quite like, but it is a weapon that very much could only ever work as a Heavy weapon
It would be a goofy direct downgrade on spy outside of stuffing ubers
overpowered on demoknight, it's demoknight, guaranteed crits and random crits + stun and instakill on the best meled class in the game, need i say more
useless on engineer, you will almost always kill the enemies with your sentry before backing them, even then you use your shotgun
good on medic, enemies usually get upclose so random critting them will save you
Absolutely busted on scout, double jumping behind enemies to stun them
Fine on soldier, would almost never come into play
Great on sniper, enemies want to get close to you, so you can pull this out and fuck them over
Fine on pyro, you hardly need to use your melee but i see this synergize well with the backburner, and pyro has flanking options
Imagine this thing as a Scout weapon
Taunt kill and all
@@duncanchillake8024 it would be pretty with medic because if you crit with it on your first hit against a health enemy you can start booking it while they are laughing
The soldier going grenade taunt kill understands what TF2 is all about
Merry Christmas
Really surprised you didn't mention that the holiday punch also forces übered players into the taunt, literally being able to just stuff an über push
wdym he mentioned that like 3 separate times
we need a holiday punch that instead of making the enemy laugh, it makes the enemy get scared
we already have the taunt that is "The scaredy cat"

A friend who plays the game said "It's fun to watch Holiday Punch Heavies get a taunt kill. So I let it happen." And he's told me that's pretty common sentiment in casual play.
It seems like a universal buff that other people think it's goddamn hilarious to watch you succeed, even if they immediately kill you afterwards.
It's a sacred ritual. If a Speavy manages to backstab someone with the Mittens, said person that got backstabbed's fate is dictated by luck. Interrupting the ritual for any reason is a bad move.
If you die with the Holiday Punch after getting a crit, you are just giving your enemy a free "Taunt on Kill"
You know, LazyPurple had some good advice for dealing with Holiday Punch Heavi....er, Spies:
"Just...turn around"
Combine that with Uncle Dane's god-tier Holiday Punch Heav...er, Spy advice of: "Turn up your volume" and I think those Holiday Punch Spies will be easy pickings.
Unless it's from a random crit. In which case, go rage on some forum or something
Especially because random crits on everything else just kill you with 195. So at least a random laugh has a chance to whiff or have you get saved lol
Random crits just aren't really worth talking about on it lol. It really do just be funny haha fat spy without and good spy tools/speed
Spoilers: He did not take Wutville off the queue.
One time I saw an enemy soldier use the grenade taunt kill in the middle of the map with no one around, so I rushed over and airblasted him out of it and saved his life. He just looked at me, nodded, and walked off.
This video in a fewer words: the weapon is fine cuz its a melee weapon for the heavy. The end
Here's a combo for you, kritzkrieg + holiday punch = guaranteed laughing enemies
Merry Christmas
kritzkrieg + medigun + holiday punch = invincible pootis pow
*Merry Kritzmas
It kind of feels like you're getting a backstab, but trading that (sometimes) insta-kill for a stun that may or may not work out in your favor. It's like you're moving that RNG one step further before it gives you a kill.
In the clips where you miss the taunt kill you happen to flick your crosshair away right before you use it which moves the line of sight the taunt kill registers in since the taunt uses the crosshair to draw a line to register the hit.
The weapon design rules the community tends to push for (the three you listed) have been around since about 2010 - that's a LOT longer than "recently". About 12 years longer than "recently".
Yes, but they're ones that Valve themselves have only really adopted "recently" if you count Jungle Inferno as "recent." The Atomizer gave you an extra jump until 2017, the Pocket Pistol had extra base health until 2015, it was the wild west of balancing back in the day.
@@fishstickonastick-gaming
Those changes were reverted quite quickly however (in the Atomizaer's case, it also always had a visual affect - the Scout's extra jumps got a purple puff-cloud affect). Few items with passive upsides have ever had (let alone kept) said upsides without having a permanent visual cue on the character at all times.
@@DBArtsCreators Alot of weapons had their stats barely touched or slightly tweaked until a toolbox was brought in to retune them.
PBPP was 2012-2015(Permanent Health before Health on Hit), Soda Popper was 2011-2013(Mini-Crits to 5 Jumps), Equalizer 2009-2012(before the speed was moved to the Escape Plan), and Razorback and Amby 2009-2017(one was practically a straight upgrade and the other treaded into another classes specialty while maintain your class features before JI).
Some weapons had their passives quickly changed, but many did not, and many weapons that we're questionable never gotten their stats heavily adjusted until some time had passed.
Lmfao waiting until the very end of the video to mention the funniest thing the weapon does was smart. I was like “does he know?” The whole time
"Flank heavy, flank Heavy" is such a good joke actually, this had me dying
A stun mechanic that's actually balanced by how situational it is? What a concept!
1:25 now i wanna see an engie building get up and start laughing
The holiday punch is the only weapon that is always balanced with random crits, also it has a lot of potential use scenarios when it comes to stunning!
I love how nobody even stopped to consider how powerful the panic attack is when comboed with the tickle fists
Nobody should complain about stun mechanics when a character can "stun" you for 15 seconds from across the map instantly :)
Eapecially since that same character can turn off the range mechanics for his teammates every 20 seconds with one of the biggest aoes in the game for no significant cost.
Like how he kept mentioning the scorchshot stunning people but didn’t mention that rockets can do the exact same thing but more effectively.
because fuck the scorch shot
Because rockets are
A: much slower than a flare gun (3000 hammer units compared to 1200)
B: On a slower class that can't get into good positions as easily without using up those rockets.
C: needs to slowly reload those rockets after 4 shots, rather than 16 with a super slow single reload.
D: Doesn't bounce so you can't get stunlocked from a double hit.
E: doesn't do nearly as much damage as the scorch shot at those ranges.
Since, rockets are easier to dodge and much more clearly seen, you don't see a flare unless they're really far, or landed near or on you
The Holiday Punch can also be a great way to counter stock Uber if you are runnin Kritskrieg as the crit charge will allow you to force the enemy combo into a forced tickle, used on the ubering medic guarantees the Uber is now wasted and you'll have rebuilt your Crits charge before the enemy medic can rebuild a stock uber, even if he survives the encounter.
I just want to take a moment to give due respect to the fact you let the solider get that kill at 9:16
always a good day when fish vtuber uploads
You forgot one of its upsides, enemy team will instantly stop everything there doing to watch you funny kill a guy
Oh my gosh I love your vids so much. You are my 2nd favorite tf2 CZcamsr
Im on mobile and i saw your community post saying a Holiday Punch video was on the way, then I scrolled down and the very next thing was this video.
Kinda reminds me of this concept I had for a demo melee that was a giant Gallagher-style wooden hammer. Only 50 damage a hit and 20% slower swing speed, but could be charged by holding right click up to five seconds where if a charged swing connects, it stuns the enemy for two seconds and plays the funny "BONK.mp4" sound effect.
Good vid! I thought the commandments at the beginning were a nice touch haha
Laugh gas in a glove.
10:03 there I am Gary, there I am!
Hey, I saw you on TV last night!
Watching this video, something came to mind: if you want to capitalize on the tickle stun quickly, then pairing this with a Shotgun would be fairly effective, especially since close range is where the shotguns shine already as well
If you get got by a Holiday Punch... you kinda deserve it... because at that point the Heavy could have killed you several times over but decided to be the "Funny Guy"
The Holiday Punch is an acceptable weapon because it allows for my favourite subclass to exist: Fat Spy
Also there is a laugh tier list. Sniper's is the fastest so if you don't take advantage of it or miss, you're screwed.
Now i want to see a tricktickle montage
Also, the punch stunning players from behind to prepare for an instant taunt kill (that is pretty inconsistent with elevation and misaligned angles) is just a worst version of spy directly instant killing players from behind
i think of the holiday punch like playing spy, if i hit you from behind, im getting the kill unless someone else kills me before it hit the pow
Technically, since those weapon design commandments haven’t been followed for most of TF2’s history, I wouldn’t really call them commandments, more what sweaty comp players want.
I use it quite consistently against ubers. With some practice, you can stop around 1 out of 4 uber pushes, which is a lot against 0 out of 4 for all other weapons.
It also lets you win a regular uber vs Kritzkrieg matchup
10:04 over a year later and this guy is still the actual best person in the entire world
I bet this would combo well with the panic attack's switch speed buff. That would give you a finisher for crits with these gloves without leaving yourself open with the taunt.
That's bad sportsmanship. If you plan to be offensive with the mittens, you have to commit with the tauntkill. Anything else is poor sportsmanship.
I use this weapon and instead of taunt killing when I get a crit, I just mow them down with the minigun or shotgun, and that makes people extremely mad at me. Sometimes they will even say "I wouldn't be mad if you just did the taunt kill!" And it makes me realize people expect the heavy to use the Taunt in order to nerf themselves, and create a downside on the weapon where one logistically doesn't exist.
"nooooooo you can't use stun strategically, It's supposed to be a meme weapon! " "haha, uber go poof"
Also, you're using a shotgun as heavy? Respect 👏
@@Bnvnu Panic Attack covers Natascha's weaknesses and people do not realize that.
@@vanilla8956how does panic atack covers Natasha weakness? By being able to make a fast switch to shotgun instead of revving up?
@@cheese3764 Both of Natascha's downsides combine to make heavy much worse at reacting to a sudden close range threat. The brass beast's damage makes it at virtually a guaranteed instakill at close range once you get it finally revved up. But Natascha's lower damage, while literally ignorable at long and mid range, is more noticable up close. Having a quick high damage option for close range for you to switch to when caught of guard covers the weakness and let's you reposition to cause the most disruption with the slowdown easier
Honestly, the counterplay to the holiday punch is... just walk away. Literally, that's all you have to do. It's a fucking heavy, it's not like they are going to be catching up to you >.>
That includes all melee, you're oversimplifying the dillema quite a bit
While im sure most people already know this, the holiday punchs stun mechanic is still very useful for some genuine competative moments, mostly being that its good for dealing with medics after they pop uber, sense the gloves force invincible enemies to laugh unlike other stun weapons, meaning you can effectively stuff a medics uber after they pop it by backstabing them with heavy, forcing them to waste it, and potentially putting the enemies at a disadvantage now that they have a medics that's a sitting g target for your teamates to dog pile on, all at the coast of a heavy and damaging crits
In conclusion, a holiday punch crit is hilarious !
that "gutted" was spoken from the pain of modern sandman
The other day i was playing medic and got my uber stuffed by a holiday punch heavy.
I couldnt help but laugh.
Such a good vid
"The three rules"
Bro, these are you're rules.
i personally call the holiday punch the "why is he THERE?"
This is what you call, dying from laughter
Good job.
All you have to give up for the Scorch Shot, is your soul.
Finally, someone pointed out the Jump thing.
correct me if im wrong but back in the day it always made you laugh if the heavy hits no need for back and stuff
Had someone do this to me on dustbowl the other day while i was ubered and pushing. Didn't realize he was a threat till it was too late, you're used to being unstoppable when ubered. Wasn't even mad, just impressed
"flank-heavy flank heavy playstyle" thats great
one of my favourite tf2 memories is when we were playing cp_egypt and i was playing heavy, something i didn’t do that often. we were trying to cap the first point, i got ubered by a med, then their med counterpopped their teams heavy. so i just ran up with the fists and got a random crit on their heavy, completely stuffing their uber. we capped the point and text chat was just filled with both teams going “wtf was that lmao”. it’s a fun memory i have with this game, but i would be the first to admit the whole situation was some bullshit and the holiday punch absolutely should not be able to do that.
A heavy literally holiday punched my ubered heavy and completely ruined my Uber
You know if this weapon had a "third hit is a crit" stat, it would genuinely be extremely good
Landing three hits in a row as the slowest class in the game wouldn't be viable (and would also just kill most light classes on the first two hits most of the time) so it wouldn't change much realistically
With the scorch shot, other than 10 damage, you also have to give up your soul
I love being full stunned
Uber stopping is incredibly useful. I can't count on my fingers how many ubers i ended up destroying because i sneaked up on them
Okay if you manage to get flanked by a HEAVY who can't cloak and is the slowest class you deserve to get stunned.
I love the winter maps especially doublefrost and wutville
D. Chn knocking it out of the park with the hikus.
I love stuns, so glad this is still around. 😂😂
The Demo at 3:37 gave you his back for Christmas how nice
shut up holiday punch favourite weapon
I remember getting executed mid-laugh by a random crit shotgun blast right to my dome like a tame cartel video.
Bro cannot aim the taunt on a stationary target
Im not even mad when my local pootisPOW hoovy slaps my back and sends me to the shadow realm, I'm just laughing my ass off.
You failed to mention how annoying it is to be holiday punched while ubered.
I love the funny stunny
One tip I have with this weapon, do not underestimate it's capability of stuffing ubers, the last thing an ubered soldier will expect is a large russian guy using the funny mittens to just deny his push and prevent his destruction of your engie's nest.
For a "Melee Enthusiast" you think they would have been more excited about that taunt kill.
In their tongue, he is known as Heavykiin - _Pootisborn!_
"Poo Tis POW!"
I recently dubbed this weapon a sub class that i like to call “fat spy”
"Flank heavy (adjective) flank heavy (noun)"
If you let the big funny man behind you then it's just going to happen
when i play heavy in tf2 i normally use the holiday-punch, (and tomislav+sandvich) but i cant remember why i use the holiday-punch, thanks for helping me know better how it works:) (never actually knew it garrentees crits on other holiday-punch heavys)
I feel like any weapon that attacks from behind has like Crits or Mini-Crits (Backburner, Spy Knifes, Backscatter, Holiday Punch)
Somehow this guy manages to shoehorn in a pants-wetting session about the scorch shot in almost every weapon review.
_"Pootis Pow!"_
It actually never ocurred to me that this weapon takes advantage of how it can still get random crits.
I use it as a direct stock upgrade, you just pull it out when the enemy ubers and remove the uber because fun game design.
Finally… A BACK-STABBING HEAVY
