Don't understand how quaver, semiquaver etc translates to whatever Roomie said..
@E T I'm not familiar with quavers and the other words. But in my country you have the whole note which is 4 beats long (the name probably comes from assuming a 4/4 time signature), then you have the half note which is 2 beats long (half of the whole note), then there's a quarter note which is 1 beat long (half of the half note), then you have an eighth note which is 1/2 beat long (again half of the quarter) and it continues like that.
So a 32nd note is 1/8 beat long.

Viola jokes are traditionally made between professional string players, and pretend that the viola is a lesser instrument with an ugly sound and poor players. Violas could counteract that violinists are vain and self-centred,and attention seeking and the instrument is screechy. The real musicians recognize and respect each other’s instruments and value .Sadly, the viola bashing has spread in this community here, who now make it into a form of bullying that is really hard on the young people who maybe learning the instrument.best not to join in on viola bashing

If you random google around like if you wanted to start piano you'll see pretty much everyone says piano = weighted keys and 88 keys. everything else is not a piano or it's even a toy. i am not a musician but at least i always though it's common knowledge, like violin has 4 strings. There's a few categories oif keyboards, piano being probably by far the biggest and most widespread. There's midi keyboards, synthesizers or similar that are for other types of effects, or electric organs (not to mention normal ones) but a piano is the most standard by far. Also, if you find a music store online or physically go and check the pianos. They all will have 88 keys. I thought that was a funny question and was surprised :) but if i gather correctly he is a singer.

@@udiar Weighted keyboards, which are also often sold as digital pianos, are almost always 88 key. A very few are 73/76, but that one looks like 88. More importantly, anyone who's bought a keyboard generally buys based on number of keys, and they only come in a few sizes, like 25, 37, 49, 61, 73/76, 88, so you would have seen 88 as a number associated with pianos.
