"Cancel culture" is a boogeyman defense mechanism from conservatives used to excuse shitty behaviors and deflect their wrongdoings by calling everyone sensitive for caring about the wrong they've done. If everyone is "so sensitive" then no issue is ever taken seriously and they get to keep being terrible people spreading lies and misinformation. It causes issue fatigue so nothing gets done which is the entire point of our horrendous two party system.
