My sister in law once asked my wife why she put up with me "sitting in his office playing MMO's day after day!" And my lovely wife said "He spends 150 dollars a year for his subscription to his primary game...less than 50 cents a day. If I need him to do something, he's here and he doesn't mind doing it...he knows his game is just a game." Honestly, for the internet side of things at least, it sounds like you've almost got to hate the popular games instead. Loads of hate around Assassins Creed to Call of Duty. Some of it's deserved, but still it's more rare for me to find someone who talks positive about it without going out of the way (You'll obviously find praise of their forums or the certain channels specializing in them). You'll get those upvotes rolling in though if you mention how good a platinum or dark souls game is though. Again, in some respects this is deserved (on a game basis, not a shaming the fans one), but... a lot of what I see is kind of a circle where you're not shamed for liking unpopular games, but rather shamed if you like the mainstream ones.

when 12 year olds say “imagine playing fortnite” when they obviously played in 2018 and are hopping on the bandwagon. i’m a kid, but i feel like none of us can form our own opinions, we just say what will get us the most clout. never be ashamed at what games you like to play
You should never be ashamed of playing kids games as an adult. Especially if they're great games like Lego or Mario or splatoon or Pokémon. I'm 29 and most of my games are rated E.
The whole 'Friday and Saturday nights' part is annoying. When you're 18-23 it's expected that you have to go out to clubs and bars and enjoy it! But if you don't you're frowned upon, it's even worse how it seems EVERYONE wants to go bars and clubs, never been my thing at all, unless I'm on holiday. Gaming at night brings me more joy than trying to pick up no-personality girls for a quick shag, but that's just me
freakin expensive drinks, flashing lgihts that could give epilepsie, music so loud it makes you deaf, not to mention is basicly allways the same sound and a bunch of people that remind you of a trailer for jersey shore...really don't get the appeal for it.
And endless lines at the toilets, which also stink when you finally get in. And waiting forever at a bar to get served while the bartenders ignore you and serve all the good looking women first.
i had been doing it since i have 14 years, i know a lot of people and they dont care, the idiots who said that are just unworth even unworth your time, maybe i got luck people around me respect me a little bit more, the girls even used to defend me sometimes if i wasnt paying attention to another male who was trying to bitch me back because of a discussion unreleated to video games, if you show yourself self respect you are okay even if most of the people around doesnt, they will go out of their tiny box in a future and will feel ashamed of their stupidity
I play racing games with arrow keys (coz I'm a student and getting steering wheel and pedals are not so high on my list..). I don't play many of them but few like Forza Horizon 4 and The Crew when it came out etc. I feel that arrow keys are better in racing games to be able to use handbrake in spacebar. Obviously steering wheel and pedals would be 100 times better but I'm just not that into racing games but still want to play them occasionally for something different..
same and is it a bad thing that I only realy play sky rim and have over 3000-4000 hrs In it between ps3 and pc? or do I need to find a skyrim annonomyse group?
I feel for you. I still only have about 15 of them. I wish I had tallied/kept track of where I picked up stones because revisiting places might take a lot of time...but eventually that will be the very thing I will have to do.
Pixel games are awesome, there's one called CRAWL that I love and another one called Himno that's pretty relaxing... people who think pixel games aren't "real games" then 2 things: 1 then literally every video game is not a real game because how else are you seeing the game you're playing? The portal of dimensions? And 2 how were games originally made during the birth process of games? Games like Mario bros., contra, street fighter, pacman, double dragon, metroid, and megaman were pixel games, and those are OG games..
@@TheBigEdem Yeah, i get it. Its your opinion :D But i would love if they were still making updates for it, and made it longer playtime (sorry if my English sucks, not my native language)
God when I was in high school I remember having to closet the fact that I was a gamer, because being a gamer at the time was apparently the "worst" thing that you could be. So I hung out with people that tbh I really had nothing in common with. I remember at one point someone found out, and immediately my social status dropped for some unknown fucking reason. Then I graduated and realized high school is a bunch of bullshit, and the second you get out your life will change. Never looked back, and my life (lives) is so much better now. Thank you gaming community for being amazing
Back when I was in school the type of game you played was more the bearing for that. No-one batted an eye if you played FIFA or Grand Theft Auto but if you played World of Warcraft or still played Pokemon into your teens you were seen as a massive nerd. I never really understood that when they're both essentially taking up your free time.

TheGlassSword I'm a hardcore gamer... Got a job a wearhouse where I work 10hr shifts... Got married... Little to no time for gaming besides mobile games
Me loving “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild” then there’s those people who are like “you played for hours hand over” like bruh I have one game file let me finish
Justanotherpretzel so, why do people like it? I’m not trying to be rude, it’s just that I don’t understand the following, and why it’s so popular. I’ve heard it’s pretty relaxing.
I'm not ashamed of playing competitive Overwatch at an age of 58; I'm not ashamed of being only silver; I'm not ashamed of binge-buying old games on GoG -- its nostalgic for me; I'm not ashamed I talk more to team members than to irl friends; I'm not ashamed of writing this comment (well, perhaps a bit).
ozdergecko why would it be shameful to buy old games ? Only being really young would justify that thought. Time tells which games are great because you play them without needing fancy graphics. I can't think of one game this year apart from divinity original sin 2 that I would play with dated graphics and that is sad. Btw, rank doesn't matter as long as you are not toxic imo :)
I usually get shamed for playing and loving Skyrim. IT’S AN EXTREMELY GOOD GAME!! It has a good plot, and many other side quests. I don’t understand why people say Skyrim is a noob game... Skyrim is difficult sometimes and is also addictive.
I took on bandits from the start of the game. If there's one thing Bethesda Games have taught me, it's that there's always good cash to be found in the corpses of the bad guys' pockets.
One thing I learned from my father in law: it's ok to play on easy. He's been gaming since NES and before. Sometimes it's nice to just enjoy the story and feel really powerful. Just don't go brag about how good you are though lol.
To be honest when I was like a 5 or 7 year old I never got passed the boss but I got eventually pass it and now that I think about it I was really a noob xd
It's funny when you are a child you can't beat something you stop playing that game for years you come back and you beat it one your first try back, I've had that happen
Worst thing about telling you're a gamer is that the majority of people think that gaming either is for children under 10 years only and that you are massively behind mentally when you are almost 30 and still gaming, or that gaming is the source of all evil and turns you into an aggressive criminal. For the longest time I thought that phone games only were mase of time wasters or farming games. But meanwhile I found some that offered some actual gaming.
I play skyrim on pc but only because when I first started playing elder scrolls(morrowind) it was on a computer so I was so used to the mouse and keyboard controls that I couldn't do the console version lol. But yeah even today I love skyrim and still play it.
ARSH Honestly. Nowadays every physical game ships without updates. And on most titles there are already updates jusr after release. So again, you wait. And if you have decent internet, you wont wait more than 20mins for a game so its fine really. Also digital doesnt get lost or destroyed, you own it forever. But still, I too love the feeling of a physical copy
I have really good internet speed so I cant relate to bad downloading speeds but I can relate to: lost/broken/stolen/scratched discs thats why I prefer downloading games🤓
Digital, because I could take my laptop from the UK to the United States and have all my games in my steam library even if they are not downloaded, I get like 30mbs download on steam at home anyway so it takes like an hour to download grand theft auto, my internet let’s me download at 220mbs but due to server limitations and my slow HDD it’s a lot slower, I preferred physical copies when I played on console but now I prefer digital because it’s more useful for me
Im a 55 year old gamer. None of my friends are into it. I always get YOU PLAY VIDEO GAMES?. REALLY?. then they come over and ill show them what i play. I guess there somewhat impressed cause i hear WOW THAT LOOKS GOOD OR HOLY SHIT I CANT BELIEVE HOW GOOD THAT LOOKS. At my age when you tell someone your a gamer theyre thinking of asteroids or pacman or atari games. Its also fun to get out of work and blast away. They dont get it but its my thing not theirs.
Sounds quiet funny to me, cause as older as people are, as less they normally are into gaming, so thinking of PacMan and stuff.. they just don't know better, i would like to see something like that in person :D
basicwm9 Worked with a guy last year who was 60 yes old, lovely guy. But took me a month to find out he was a gamer because he felt a bit embarrassed admitting it. We got on like a house on fire after that, still have him on my freinds list. He got into PS4 through his kids and even stopped going out to get drunk at weekends because of it so it's actually done the guy a favour lol.
I'll be honest I met this person and I was afraid to tell her I enjoyed games and that I loved playing them. Turns out she was feeling the exact same as I turns out she was also a gamer and loved and still does love to play resident evil games and evil within and I said I'm a gamer to been going out for 5 years now. Don't be worried about telling someone that you are a gamer because if they don't accept it then thats their problem not yours.
I think it's really funny that people who give gamers crap are the same people that watch other grown men play professional sports and root for teams that change every year. Everybody has hobbies that other people find weird or pointless why judge any of it? I've never bought a collector's edition but that's not because I haven't wanted to. Hah
“OMG you HaVe nOt PlaYed FoRtniTe YoU aRe a LoSeR.” Ok lemme get this straight, Fortnite is played by virgins, but only the people who make fun of others who don’t play it are virgins, not the people just playing it because it’s fun.
You[']r[e] wrong I’m not even making fun of you. I mean unless you call out people for not playing fortnite. I’m saying the virgins are the ones who tease others that don’t play Fortnite
@@subwaysandwiches3180 There's a trick if you have the internet modem and and your computer in your room, just lock the doors, there's no way your parents can get in now.
Playing on easy mode like sometimes you just wanna get through the game and get to the story or you just aren’t as good as other gamers like it’s nothing to be ashamed of
I play easy mode because I like the story, I don’t buy games for the gameplay, I buy them for the story itself, if a game has amazing mechanics but a boring story I don’t want to play it
My father had a job that moved a lot. Really a lot. I'm S.Korean and I moved over 13 times in S.Korea only and that was just in 20 years. I also want to USA and moved 4 times in 6 years. So I only have friends in online games. Some people told me to "get a life" and etc but with this video, I feel much better! Thanks Gameranx!😀
Sometimes we all look for someone to approve us but the human judge for everything not just for gaming so is is okay.We can do the difference and be the nice peep to others.
I can kinda get behind how you feel, i have also moved around a lot and it is hard to try and stay connected with friends that are on the other side of the country. Online friends you always have no matter where you are, and thats honestly what makes them so great.
I've been gaming for over 20 years, still play single player games on easy mode, I want to experience the story in as immersive a way as possible, going back because I died breaks the flow for me. That said I play a lot of Multiplayer, so that's where I get my challenge!
Nothing wrong with that.Unlike PC you cannot play for example a PS2 game from 2003 on PS 4. IMO old games from before 2010 were much more amazing in gameplay and more worth the money that majority of games today
Girls look better than boys, it's simple. Or sometimes like the case of Mass Effect 1-3 the female character is voiced by Jennifer Hale who is one of the best Voice Actors on the Planet.
Ugh, the last one is so true and it drives me nuts. Everyone is always like, "Oh, you just met that guy online, he isn't really your friend." And I'm just like, "What makes him not my friend?" People are always like, "You met him online." Like, what is the difference? Oh my god, I didn't meet this guy face to face, guess he isn't really my friend. In my opinion, meeting people online is better because you can act more like yourself since you're more anonymous, and personally that makes me feel more relaxed, and my personality slips through more, and these people meet me for who I am, and not who I pretend to be.
Honestly I don’t even pre order for incentives. I just want to make sure I game I know I’m gonna love is paid for when I have the extra money to pay for it
Making friends online can be an awesome experience. And I remember people saying you shouldn't make friends on games but in the real world but the real world makes social interaction stressful but in a game you already have something in common. You like the game you are playing it's a way to communicate and learn about cultures and people all over the world without all of the stereotypes and stress of actually being around somebody. I had a best friend online and I got made fun of for it but I don't care. That person and me had a lot more in common then I did with others, and being able to do something fun with a friend whether it be online or real world stuff is great and makes life way more enjoyable then not doing it.
For the friends one, it doesn't matter if you know them or even talk to them but what makes you friends is whether you enjoy playing and spending time with them
I mean, if there was some Goth Punk club around where I live I'd totally go check that out, but there isn't, just a small town so oh yeah, I'd love just sitting and playing games ;P
tell me about it. i would rather wait to see a movie by myself then sit in a full theater full of people who cant be quiet even if i see that movie five, ten years later.
This is all extra true for us women who spend a large portion of our free time gaming. The "female gamer" is still seen as an odd out, even in 2017/2018. Which is just nuts.
One thing I’ve learned not to be ashamed of, is playing a handheld at a family gathering: yes mom, there’re a lot of people here that YOU know who are *family*; that doesn’t mean that I have a whole lot to talk about with them, or that I’ll be able keep up in conversation when I’ve practically seen them only twice a *year*.
Lol bro there's way more than just me man. I'm an old meme that came out of the leafyishere era. I honestly just never had the time to change my profile pic lol.
You have more friends in games because you are more open when speaking to strangers in fictional world where you are invincible, than in real Life where every third person is a criminal
People try to tell me I should be ashamed because my husband and I play video games with our 15 year old, I tell them that our family is all gamers and this is a way we can all wine down from our day @ work & school. It's family time. And to say the least we know what our teenager is doing. (LOVE the video by the way, I still play FF tactics and I'm 37 lol)
KWilliams What you and your family do in your spare time by playing video games is completely harmless. Its a way your family can come together. It is just sad to hear people tell you should be ashamed. You know what is best for your family. Keep gaming!
KWilliams I don't see how that's any different than a family game night on the old days with board games? It's basically the same thing to me yet nobody has ever shamed someone for that.
I needed to hear #8. I tend to feel bad about not getting to a game until well after it's released due to either my schedule, or still finishing other games.
My dad always judges me because he says i should get out and make some friends and he keeps telling me they dont count as "Real Friends" and i also have no kids around my age in my neighborhood and if i do go out of my way to play with some little kids he always gets mad at me
Your dad is old and out of touch. He doesn't game so he wont get it. He will once you move out and reach adulthood like my mom did. My mom tries to game now herself. It's strange but ironic. Start saying things like "Its a gamer thing" every now and then to make it subtly apparent.
I have 4 friends and we're gamers we'll play all the time. But my family are like go out make friends but they don't know is that I am playing with friends. What I am trying to say is that meet your small group of friends if you like games we'll have fun in real life and in games
I've been gaming since I was 5. Started with Pong on a black and white TV! Not ashamed of anything I do gaming related! Still rockin' the games, have had pretty much every current console since those Pong days, and today enjoy my Series X and Switch the most. :-)
I play games 2-3 years after they get out (my PC is not great), like that I can already know if the game I want to play appeal to me and I'm sure there are no more bad bugs or glitches. I also play a lot of games from my childhood (Pokemon, Prince of Persia, Star Wars Battlefront 2, AC,...)
Just a simple feelgood video. Any other suggestions?
Why the Switch is better than PC and any other console.

"Gamer should not be ashamed of having more friends online than in real life"
Can't relate. I don't have friends in either of those places
Welcome to 00.1% club
I feel personally attacked
when 12 year olds say “imagine playing fortnite” when they obviously played in 2018 and are hopping on the bandwagon. i’m a kid, but i feel like none of us can form our own opinions, we just say what will get us the most clout. never be ashamed at what games you like to play
you do you kid, don't succumb to peer pressure, most of those idiots wont amount to anything anyway
exactly
No one should care what games you play. it is your life and you choose whichever game you want to play. Don't be ashamed of the games you play.
Unless it's Fortnite
Bruh 2017 to 2019 I was only playing tf2 because I couldn't run fortnite.
You should never be ashamed of playing kids games as an adult. Especially if they're great games like Lego or Mario or splatoon or Pokémon. I'm 29 and most of my games are rated E.
Paul Facemire i 100% agree 🙂 im 24 and i love most kids games and rated T games also i like to mix things up 😊
Can’t go wrong with Pokèmon.
Paul Facemire that is why its rated E (for everyone) and that there isnt a rateing called K for kids
Legos are the best.
Paul Facemire also i think that if you are kid you Can play games that Are for older gamers
Gaming at night brings me more joy than trying to pick up no-personality girls for a quick shag, but that's just me
CarreraGT haha
The Roadwarrior true tho, like fr I'd rather have a gf than a one night stand every weekend, but I can't even find a decent girl ffs
freakin expensive drinks, flashing lgihts that could give epilepsie, music so loud it makes you deaf, not to mention is basicly allways the same sound and a bunch of people that remind you of a trailer for jersey shore...really don't get the appeal for it.
Hey I'm still playing Skyrim and it's 2019 and I'm playing it on the Xbox One I mean Xbox 360

Arrow keys.... gross. Lol just kidding, do your thing. 😁👍

i was playing with arrows but it was a bit uncomfortable with hand being so close one to other
and i got used to wasd
I play racing games with arrow keys (coz I'm a student and getting steering wheel and pedals are not so high on my list..). I don't play many of them but few like Forza Horizon 4 and The Crew when it came out etc. I feel that arrow keys are better in racing games to be able to use handbrake in spacebar.
Obviously steering wheel and pedals would be 100 times better but I'm just not that into racing games but still want to play them occasionally for something different..

number eleven. NEVER be ashamed of playing pixel games such as:
minecraft
terraria
undertale
forager
edit: Thank you, thank you a lot!

There’s actually good console/pc ports on mobile with the full console experience.

"lives" I love it.

Justanotherpretzel so, why do people like it? I’m not trying to be rude, it’s just that I don’t understand the following, and why it’s so popular. I’ve heard it’s pretty relaxing.

ozdergecko why would it be shameful to buy old games ? Only being really young would justify that thought. Time tells which games are great because you play them without needing fancy graphics. I can't think of one game this year apart from divinity original sin 2 that I would play with dated graphics and that is sad. Btw, rank doesn't matter as long as you are not toxic imo :)

I usually get shamed for playing and loving Skyrim. IT’S AN EXTREMELY GOOD GAME!! It has a good plot, and many other side quests. I don’t understand why people say Skyrim is a noob game... Skyrim is difficult sometimes and is also addictive.
On the whole, the game was breathtaking, but the main story left something to be desired. The DLC stories were great, though.
I took on bandits from the start of the game. If there's one thing Bethesda Games have taught me, it's that there's always good cash to be found in the corpses of the bad guys' pockets.
Skyrim is my favorite game 1 behind a TLOU tho
Hayden Beranek Oblivion and Skyrim are my favorite.
The difficulty did leave something to be desired but a few mods sorted that out for me.

One thing I learned from my father in law: it's ok to play on easy. He's been gaming since NES and before. Sometimes it's nice to just enjoy the story and feel really powerful. Just don't go brag about how good you are though lol.
I'm really introverted, I prefer a dark room with my PC
Im such an introvort i play MMOs by myself
I'm a mix of introvert and extrovert
I'm very introverted too with most people.

It's funny when you are a child you can't beat something you stop playing that game for years you come back and you beat it one your first try back, I've had that happen
Oof
Worst thing about telling you're a gamer is that the majority of people think that gaming either is for children under 10 years only and that you are massively behind mentally when you are almost 30 and still gaming, or that gaming is the source of all evil and turns you into an aggressive criminal.
For the longest time I thought that phone games only were mase of time wasters or farming games. But meanwhile I found some that offered some actual gaming.
Lol yep all games are for people under 10.... well I'm off to play the resident evil 7 on vr so 10 year old friendly it is :)
Im going to play gta that's friendly right?
In Psychology we talked about gaming and the people who become criminals "from it". It's still all boils down to the person *not* the game
Tetris. Snake. Angry Birds.

I play skyrim on pc but only because when I first started playing elder scrolls(morrowind) it was on a computer so I was so used to the mouse and keyboard controls that I couldn't do the console version lol. But yeah even today I love skyrim and still play it.
Im at level 8 on my newest character lol. May take a 6 month break. Always come back though
Your fine bruh, I still play fallout 3
Hail to the Dragonborn!
Who else prefers to own a physical copy of a game over a digital version?
ARSH Honestly. Nowadays every physical game ships without updates. And on most titles there are already updates jusr after release. So again, you wait. And if you have decent internet, you wont wait more than 20mins for a game so its fine really. Also digital doesnt get lost or destroyed, you own it forever. But still, I too love the feeling of a physical copy
I feel you. Rip. I upgraded recently and it is amazing since
I have really good internet speed so I cant relate to bad downloading speeds but I can relate to:
lost/broken/stolen/scratched discs thats why I prefer downloading games🤓
Digital, because I could take my laptop from the UK to the United States and have all my games in my steam library even if they are not downloaded, I get like 30mbs download on steam at home anyway so it takes like an hour to download grand theft auto, my internet let’s me download at 220mbs but due to server limitations and my slow HDD it’s a lot slower, I preferred physical copies when I played on console but now I prefer digital because it’s more useful for me

Everyone's got some sort of hobby, not sure why people look down on others if they don't like the hobby themselves. I will always enjoy video games.
Sounds quiet funny to me, cause as older as people are, as less they normally are into gaming, so thinking of PacMan and stuff.. they just don't know better, i would like to see something like that in person :D

Worked with a guy last year who was 60 yes old, lovely guy. But took me a month to find out he was a gamer because he felt a bit embarrassed admitting it. We got on like a house on fire after that, still have him on my freinds list. He got into PS4 through his kids and even stopped going out to get drunk at weekends because of it so it's actually done the guy a favour lol.

A guy made fun of me for playing games on Friday nights

I'll be honest I met this person and I was afraid to tell her I enjoyed games and that I loved playing them. Turns out she was feeling the exact same as I turns out she was also a gamer and loved and still does love to play resident evil games and evil within and I said I'm a gamer to been going out for 5 years now. Don't be worried about telling someone that you are a gamer because if they don't accept it then thats their problem not yours.

I think gamers shouldn't feel ashamed of not having having played a certain game just because it was popular or because it's an "Iconic" game.
Yeah especially console people because of exclusives and all.

I 100% agree.

Harry LEVI Left 4 Dead is in my top 5 games
Most of us still play the witcher because its easily one of the best games of the last decade.
You should be ashamed of camping in a corner in CoD, especially with a shotgun...
EricXDCool lol guilty 🤚🏼
EricXDCool yeap!
Yeah, you guys who do that...That right there.....be ashamed...be very ashamed
Camping in Battlefield at the end of a hallway with an LMG.
I do it but not with a shotgun
The first time I played Skyrim I didn’t start leveling up till I tried the first fight with alduin
You have more friends in games because you are more open when speaking to strangers in fictional world where you are invincible, than in real Life where every third person is a criminal
People try to tell me I should be ashamed because my husband and I play video games with our 15 year old,
I tell them that our family is all gamers and this is a way we can all wine down from our day @ work & school.
Godamn can we trade families?
Nothing wrong with playing with your husband and son, I think that is EPIC!
You are a great mom!
"enjoying things is actually the good part of life"

jakeh Brown Reading your comment the exact moment Falcon was saying it in the video.
Why isn't this comment pinned?
I needed to hear #8. I tend to feel bad about not getting to a game until well after it's released due to either my schedule, or still finishing other games.
Ik this vid was made a long time ago but thank you for making this. It made me feel a lot better about myself.
You should feel good about yourself anyways dude. Hope things get better for you.
*H E I S A D I C K W A D*
I have 4 friends and we're gamers we'll play all the time. But my family are like go out make friends but they don't know is that I am playing with friends. What I am trying to say is that meet your small group of friends if you like games we'll have fun in real life and in games
Just tell him to get off his ass and stop watching the news all dam day
XxSassypants 78 You Have Real Friends All Around Ya :)
I've seen the picture at 1:34 in my dentist
Seeing that again must’ve been like vietnam flashbacks
but you haven't tho??
Tofi Why is that so unbelievable?
Fin Mors Why is that so unbelievable, now?
That's a strange choice for a dentist
I've been gaming since I was 5. Started with Pong on a black and white TV! Not ashamed of anything I do gaming related! Still rockin' the games, have had pretty much every current console since those Pong days, and today enjoy my Series X and Switch the most. :-)
I play games 2-3 years after they get out (my PC is not great), like that I can already know if the game I want to play appeal to me and I'm sure there are no more bad bugs or glitches. I also play a lot of games from my childhood (Pokemon, Prince of Persia, Star Wars Battlefront 2, AC,...)
