- this is 100% for sure from their first official show as a band at The Alley in Vegas on August 12, 2005
Brendon's livejournal update that morning:
what makes you scared?
show tonight. incredibly excited.
and nervous.
but i couldn’t have a better job or a better group of friends to work with.
tour begins soon. see you all there.
thank you.
ok I think some people are misunderstanding the context of this season. the guys had already recorded AFYCSO at this point and were getting ready to leave for their first national tour (opening for Acceptance). they were already ridiculously popular online before they'd ever played a single show as P!ATD. this Vegas show was scheduled because the band needed to get *some* experience asap before going on tour. they were driving out to Baltimore a few days later to join the tour when they stopped in Ohio to play at another small show.
the media really latched onto the idea that P!ATD had recorded their first album before they'd ever played a single show. that was intentional marketing that Pete had a hand in. the phrasing got tricky, though, because those four guys HAD played in public together in mid-2004 before they formed the new band of Panic! at the Disco (but that still doesn't change the fact that they were reallllly inexperienced at playing live in August 2005).
this "first show" definitely isn't a record of a struggling baby band... it's more like the first reveal of a hyped band that people had been clamoring to see (and the hype just kept growing that fall). here's more info on August: prettyoddfever.tumblr.com/post/631446912952909824/patd-in-august-2005
There's something really really special about a band putting their full energy into an either disinterested or confused crowd, and following through all the way to the end. The brass balls it takes to give it your all when nobody seems to be responding, I have nothing but respect for that.
It really surprises me how they went from a mini venue to the VMA’s a year later. P!ATD Astounds me.
Spencer always looks like he's having so much fun playing lol even in their first show
THIS LOOKS SOOOO CUTE! You can tell Brendon is still pretty shy onstage considering that this is his first gig with Panic! 💜
This needs more views. Something about this is inspiring to me and my band!
I hope you guys get far! :)
@@tasnuvarawshan5827 we appreciate it 🙏

18 years later
Brendon: happily married with Sarah but retired the band (or by this point solo project to be exact) due to the excitement but also business of fatherhood
Ryan- been quiet from the spotlight since he left but is said from the few who keep in touch to be doing decent.
Brent- A decade after his firing and a few years after welcoming a child was sent to jail for drug and gun possession but still remembered for bringing Brendon into the band.
Spencer- battled a drug addiction which led to his departure, is married, still friends with Brendon and a manager/talent agent.
Sad they’re over now but still don’t you love the stories of bands?
Honestly so sad to think about how they all just separated.. But i just want them to be happy
This band's history is a literal soap opera
why is this a lot better than i thought it would be??
also, everyone has the same haircut except for brendon
I like to think it was his upstanding mormon haircut.
Watching this to gain confidence for my first show on Saturday
Good luck 👍
How’d it go?
My dad was at this show, so jealous! 😂😂
omg that makes me feel so old 😅 but that’s really cool for your dad!!
ITS SO CUTE HOW BRENDON HANGS AROUND RYAN MOST OF THE SONG
@@V1ncentRoss well he’d probably be risking injury if he went around the keyboard to be near Brent lol
Okay but why is Brent trying to hit every one around him with the bass?
Bass*
@@zachescarcega ty lol?
Spencer’s hair is sooo long woah
Very inspiring honestly for anyone that wants to go pro. It's about growth!
brendon says brent cant play bass but hes perfect here
This video is the band's first show. Brent was adequate in August - September, but the guys had to improve at a REALLY fast rate in order to be ready for the level they were thrown into. Brent was falling behind so fast and was absolutely not committed to the band on multiple levels. Ryan, Spencer, and Jon also said that Brent couldn't play bass and they were right. Everything Brendon has said about Brent is true AND is putting it nicely. here's more info: prettyoddfever.tumblr.com/post/628693718420029440/the-brent-drama-how-it-unfolded-the-drama-with
The whole point of firing him was because he was not able to write basslines even though he could play half decently. Also Jon Walker was a lot better at both.
@@Invictus___me you can very clearly hear the bassline lmao i could hear it more than i could hear bden
@@TaylorN1374 oh wait I heard it again... Now in the intro it is the loudest... I wonder why I didn't hear it before lol
These are literally the easiest baselines ever how can anyone not play these. Brent Wilson has to be impaired to not play these lines yet alone with a pick.
Woooows they always been good
brent got out and take with him their long hair aha
Aaaaa, babiiies! 🥰
Finally, it all ends here
I’m just surprised there were that many people at a first show and at a venue like this. Like where’s the garage with like 9 people watching
They were already signed and hyped up before they even played a live show.
How did you find this!?!?!?
FOR REAl
this clip is still pretty common - a lot of other people have it on their channels too! I just didn't see anyone who had labeled it correctly, so I uploaded it. There used to be some small pictures from this angle in 2005, so I think this video was maybe recorded by the same elderly Vegas photographer who took those idk. I wish I had known things were going to disappear so I could've kept better records of everything.
@@prettyoddfever when you say things disappeared - you think it was intentional or it just happened because?
@@ElmSylvi def not intentional. it feels like the old internet basically disappeared over time as it got replaced with new sites & content and people moved on.
Anyone know what kind of bass Brent is playing or something similar?
it's a Rickenbacker
Hey man!!! The reason I called myself prettyoddfever is because I was gonna make a vid with It! I'm sorry if that made you mad! Just thought i let u know!
oh you're fine - I was just confused why it was changed like right after you talked to me ha like if there was a connection
Not good at bass? Pull a Brent Wilson and move around so much no one can see 🤷🏻
for real. its so funny watching old performances where he moves around so much and turns to face spencer lol
This sucks so bad compared to their denver concert. Lol
well this was their first show ever so they obviously improved
They sucked
