Just to clarify, as an Italian, the word Duomo in Italian means Cathedral. Not just dome. The Brunelleschi's dome is a huge part of Santa Maria del Fiore's Duomo ( Cathedral) in Florence.

@@GregorBrown I'm Italian and I know that the word "Duomo" comes from the latin word "domus" that means "casa" in Italian or "house" in English. So we could say a Duomo is the House of God, and refers to the most important church in a town. If this church hosts the chair of the bishop ( cattedra) it can be also called "Cattedrale". So the words Duomo and Cattedrale refer essentially to the most important church in a town that can host or not the bishop's chair.
Anyways the word "Duomo" in Italy never refers to a dome or "cupola" in Italian, word that derives from the Latin word "cupola" diminutive of the word "cupa" which means barrel.

@@GregorBrown i think the misunderstanding may come from the assonance between the words "Dome " in English, that means "cupola" in Italian, and the word "Duomo", that means " Chiesa" in Italian.

The only negative which is that we bought drinks from the same guy on top of Piazzale Michaelangilo and he was extremely rude and started yelling when we asked for a napkin from him. So would recommend buying your drinks from another stall there.

We were in Florence last week and hit all the major spots including the Uffizzi gallery and Galeria la Academia to see David as well. Florence is amazing! It's a must see.

The Uffizzi is such an important place to view Renaissance artwork. Two of my friends saw it for the first time and that made the visit more awe inspiring for me.

I was just in Italy from May 3-9th (2023) and I fell in love with Florence! This video was in my recommended and it just makes me miss Italy! I didn’t get a chance to climb the steps of the Duomo so that’s more than enough of an excuse to go back! Thanks for the video!

We'll be there 6 nights in a few days. Based in Florence, we will be taking a vespa wine tour, Cinque Terre, and renting a car one day to see Pisa, Sienna, and San Gimignano before flying out of Bologna to Palermo.

So u just need to have your vax card and fill out the passenger locator form before flying ;)

Yes, in some areas you need to check that you have authorization to fly. and obviously, as you get closer to the airport, you can't fly it. Once you open your DJI app, if you have a DJI drone, you see the areas clearly.

hi, love your videos. I am a fan. I will be travelling to Rome in Sept for a mediterranean cruise. Where can you suggest we go in Rome (will be near Piazza Navona) for a covid rapid antigen test (required to board the ship). Also, we want to do a day trip from Rome to either Venice or Florence - which one would you suggest? thank you!
You can easily go to a pharmacy and they will help you with the test and as for a day trip I would recommend Florence but you need to spend one night because just going up for the day would be kind of rushed

No that was the area in San Nicolò, where i saw the 500 and where I passed through the porta. Yeah, that guy gives tours. I also saw him in the countryside onetime with a couple doing photographs for their wedding.
Hey, Awesome information on Florence. Im heading there with my wife and a couple friends in May. I see you have some drone footage and was wondering if you could help me out. I have a DJI Mini 2 and plan on bringing it for our vacation. I've been looking into Italy's laws and one requirement is insurance, I'm having trouble finding an insurance that covers drone flights in Italy so I'm wondering if its truly enforced or not? Also you have some awesome shots in the city and was wondering if you get hassled by the police at all for flying in the city? Any other helpful info is greatly appreciated.

No, you don't need all of that, just get here and fly, but be careful and don't fly in the downtown area, near the Duomo for example. I would recommend doing so only in the countryside. Basically, don't do what I do! LOL

Hi Gregor, I need some advice from you. I'm traveling with my husband and 3 yr old son to Florence in the first week of October 2022 to Florence. It is my husband's birthday and we wanted to dine out at a nice but reasonably priced place in Florence to celebrate his birthday. Could you suggest any such places? We are put up at Machiavelli Palace.Also is tap water in Florence and rest of Italy ,drinkable? Also for our 4 yr old son ?Thanks
Yeah. Tap water is fine. For resturants it really depends on your budget and your location in town and what type of restaurant you prefer

I really recommend you stay a couple of days. I love it so much I extended my hotel stay by 1 day and cut a day out of Naples . Check out hotel David ! It’s the best !!!! I’m here in Florence now.
@Gregory @Everyone: I'll be jetting over to Venice, and Emilia Rom region at the end of April. What mobile mobile carrier do you advise I grab a temporary sim with for those regions? I'm assuming I can pick one up while I'm at the airport? I'll only need a week's worth of coverage in those areas. Thanks!
depends on the airport, but look for a TIM or Vodaphone shop. If not in the airport, the centers will have them. there are good deals to be had. Make sure you have your passport.

Hi. Make sure you have an unlocked phone, and you probably do. I'd go with Vodaphone or TIM. You can't find them in the airport, unfortunately, but at the train station, if you take the escalator downstairs, there is a Vodaphone. Or, in the center near the Duomo there are shops.
I notice much of Florence is a "no-fly zone" for drones. I also have a mini 2. Where are good spots to use the drone for shots of Florence and also the countryside?
