I'd be down for a 'Resuscitated Franchises' episode.
Especially since there's a new Samurai Spirits/Shodown coming out
neoVERSI, Samurai Spirits? Is that a regional name?
Sega Sonic Is the name in Japan.
i’d go with ‘Resurrected Franchises’ thnk u
Tomb Raider would be an obvious pick for this list.
Streets of Rage 4 actually came out on the Switch and turned out pretty good!
The 1st rocket Knight adventures was amazing.
Can confirm.
By far the best of the series
What a great game and what a sad way to go. That last game was trash.
Yes it was and I played the hell out of it back in the day.
I know I'm late to this party but Sparkster for the Genesis is really good too.
“Have you ever tried platforming in a first person shooting game?”
Portal
Metroid prime
Doom
Exhumed/Powerslave
Its also bad in Portal
Joe's reaction to A.D. Racers really gave me a good laugh XD
I think Streets of Rage 4 looks promising. One good thing is that it's not polygonal made.
My only issue with it is the developers. They've only made one game before, and it was a dodgy parody game that looked like pit fighter. Actually also I'm kinda weired out by the trailer being all about anime boobs. This isn't a game for horny weeaboo teens, it's for people in their late 20s and early 30s who loved the original games, so why on earth are they advertising it like that? I hope I'm wrong and it's a brilliant game. But I doubt it'll be anywhere near as good as Streets of Rage Remake, which is the definitive way to play the first 3 games. They should have let those guys develop 4 instead
There are better Street of Rage 4 fan made that surpass that of the trailers. I don’t like the art style of it. It looks to flat, and cell shaded like comic zone.
Glad they're not getting Secret Level in to make it as we all they're track record with classic side scrolling brawlers Golden Axe and Final Fight. Go 3D and strip out the 2 player co-op. I mean it's bad enough killing one franchise but to kill another by doing the exact same thing, who says lightning can't strike twice
The 2D art style looks great in my opinion. I can't really think of any modern 2D games that have gone with a highly detailed 2D art style. It seems they're all either inspired by manga or Western cartoons.
Nothing has ever surpassed Street of Rage 2 in term of home console beatem up genre. Music, graphics, and gameplay.
Resuscitated Franchises sounds like a wonderful video series that I hope is possible for you guys to make.
How about the Strike series: Desert Strike, Jungle Strike, Urban Strike, Soviet Strike, Nuclear Strike and then a teaser trailer for Future Strike.
Or the Commandos series. That ended with the fourth game: Commandos: Strike Force.
Future Strike became Future Cop LAPD, which was a pretty good game but as good as the Strike series, we could really use another one!
I love those games, unfortunately EA owns the Strike IP...
Yeah, no thank you. So much greed and political baloney EA would shove into a new Strike game...
Eelco J. van Kampen
Sly Cooper 4, Epic Mickey 2, Rygar 2...
Paper Mario 5, probably.
Assassin Creed killed Prince of Persia.
Kratos
Hhheeeeeyyyyyyy nope.
@@davebladegun3009 Yes, you don't know the Dev history of Assassins Creed if you don't think so. The first one started as a Prince of Persia game.
Assassin's Creed is the spiritual successor to Prince of Persia. Dah. It never died.
Dave Rigali Sure, it never died, it just stuck in a limbo of no returning, as long as Ac still making Ubisoft money.
Dave Bladegun YESSSSSSS, BOI!
I love playing with Sacks!
I'm happy that Streets of Rage 4 is going to come out.
Turok 2 for the gameboy color was an amazing game. I loved it!
the comedy writting as gotten better. you guys are perfecting your craft and we appreciated.
I have been binge watching your channel. You guys are seriously underrated. Loving it! Keep up the good work guys
"He wasn't born in Hawaii. He wasn't born in Kenya. He was born in ANCIENT JAPAN." Coffee-spit laughter. LMAO!
He definitely was a franchise killer.lol
It's actually still a city...they took advantage of the coincidence and sold allot of tacky Obama themed stuff. Don't know if there is a Trump city in Japan
I distinctly remember the Dinosaurs from Turok attacking the humans. It was like half the fun of it, using cheats to become invincible and then making them wade into each other.
I was upset they never had a Minotaur character in Bloody Roar
There's another reason the Alex Kidd franchise died off: people took one look at Super Mario World and saw how awfully dated Alex Kidd was.
Maybe they would have if SMW came out a year or so earlier.
That timeline doesn't work at all.
Exactly why doesn't it work? Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle came out in 1989. SMW came out at the tail end of 1990, and made Enchanted Castle look like a primitive pile of crap, especially given their gameplay similarities. Now, I'm not at all saying that's what spurred Sonic, which was already in development at the time, but it was a big nail in the franchise's coffin.
Enchanted Castle reviewed badly even when it was new. It played horribly compared to the best NES, Master System and PC Engine platformers, then Revenge of Shinobi and Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion made Alex Kidd look even worse before SMW turned up.
bla bla bla
Fighting Force was actually really fun, especially co-op!
"He was born in Ancient Japaaaaan" LUL
Awesome video

I'm glad to see a new Samurai Shodown game, especially with the graphics ^_^ For some, it might not be a big deal, but SNK dug themselves OUT of financial troubles and are now back in full swing. The King of Fighters 14 was a good game and it gave them to edge to proceed further.
Thank you guys so much! I always remembered this arcade game intro from my childhood that I saw just once and I could never forget the cut-scene. I knew that I would stumble across it on one of these channels one day and now I did! It was Samurai Showdown. I always remembered the exact way the scenery came apart after his slash attack in the intro. I never had access to arcades as a kid; so I saw this one on vacation and it just lingered in my mind forever as this obscure unknown video game with super advanced graphics, since at the time I thought SNES was pretty much all there is :D
Love these moments when dusty old memories of something that fascinated you as a child resurface and are finally explained.
Been a streets of rage fan since my brother got it for Christmas back in the early 90’s. The sound track to the first two games has shaped my music taste to this day. Best OST behind Hotline Miami in IMO.
I hope the new game does the franchise justice.
Love your show boys, spot on as always.
the best intro in youtube for game reviewer
I was ready to be annoyed as Fighting Force was one of my favorites back then, but I think your thoughts on it were completely fair. While no SOR, it felt pretty impressive or at least fun back then.
Best birthday surprise ever! I didn't hear about Streets of Rage 4 until this! Wouldn't have wanted to hear it from anyone else. So hyped!
I love gazing at this sack for 20-30 minutes daily 👁️ 👁️
A.D. Racers
I woulda driven a Ferrari!
I would have totally been drafted just to save her.. (Dave keeps rubbing her picture)...
Oh shoot. It's an honor to you here Lou.
wow what a great intro
Gorgeous stop motion.
I just really wanna hang out with you two. You guys are my caliber of nerds & I could easily nerd out with you fellas & have the time of my life. Keep up the great work gents.
i just discovered this channel. you guys make really informative content and i can tell you spend a lot of time getting some great footage! but most of all i appreciate the deadpan humor.
Did anyone else laugh like a maniac when the pterodactyl touched the water and exploded at 8:51?
Welcome to late 90s, early 00s FPSs. Gibs or GTFO.
Thanks, Mortal Kombat.
"Well, Turok, I gotta dock points for you not flipping him off, but otherwise, good job."
Cool video, and yeah, to me that "Streets of Rage 3" soundtrack sounds like a robot having a seizure.
Can't wait
For
Streets of Rage
4
On PS4!
SOR is still alive.
I just wanted to leave a comment and tell you how much I love your videos. Love you guys! Thanks for putting in the time to make these!
7am here, I'll go grab a bowl of cereal and enjoy !
3a.m. fo me hahah
Do it then! Why announce it?!
@@silver47official Why reply. Oh because you wanted too just like I wanted to comment.
You’re a classic example of someone of today. Constantly feeling the need to announce everything they’re doing like you think people actually care. I can bet my life you’re all over social media doing exactly the same thing. I bet you take photos of your dinner too like the world is really interested in you. The world has gone so self obsessed, it’s weird.
@@silver47official shows what you know. I left social media 2-3 years ago. And if you really wanted to know what I was trying Todo. When I was a kid we had decent Sunday morning cartoons. Now as an adult I have little joy left with TV. Gamesack giving me early morning entertainment let's me relive my youth. Hence the 7am with cereal comment.
I actually liked Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle. :-(
I liked it, too. Although I played it on 360 first...
Well, count me in for 3, then.
It's no Super Mario World, but I enjoyed playing it a lot as a kid.
Me too! I think it's very cute and charming, I would definitely buy it.
"The camera can suck my unwiped ass" Is the best thing ive heard on The sack in a while, i was properly ROFLing
Thoroughly entertaining episode and you highlighted some great franchises. Great work.
Time splitters and SSX, as well as Road Rash. All 3 thanks to EA.
I love fighting force. I'm looking at this with huge nostalgia goggles. But man did me and a friend of mine have fun with that game
Me too I had fun with it too especially in coop
You still can't comprehend the genius that is SoR 3's soundtrack? I'm sorry to hear that
Gross
Keep making these, but make them about games we loved. Cause after you made this one, two got resurrected!
Love the Samurai Shodown series. 3 always kicked my ass too, even on the lowest difficulty. Ukyo is my favorite.
Just what I needed at 2am!
I'm glad it's only 11: 00 here on the West Coast
I'm hyped for Streets Of Rage 4. The people behind it also made a remastered version of Wonderboy 3: The Dragon's Trap. That game both looks and sounds beautiful.
Nothing like some sack to start a Sunday morning.
street of rage: Sega killed Franchise by ignoring SORR...
Not anymore because SOR 4 is released
0:13 - 0:31 Hey I recognize that music!!
The Streets of Rage 3 soundtrack is actually amazing, though. It's refreshing to hear something so weird and interesting in a major title like that.
As I recall, Enchanted Castle has a story. It's little more than "Alex has to travel to a planet of rock paper scissors to save his father, who was actually on vacation the whole time".
Little disappointed you didn't go into more detail on the GBC Turok games. I've always been curious about them, because honestly... they look pretty fun to me! Plus, they have some of the best soundtracks on the entirety of the GBC, thanks to the underrated composer Alberto Jose Gonzalez, who was sort of like Tim Follin's unofficial protege. Turok 2 GBC in particular has some absurdly good music for the system. It's too bad Gonzalez mostly composed for shovelware licensed games, as basically every soundtrack he ever made was gold -- though fortunately, he's still around and composing chiptunes to this day, with his most recent one being for the 2017 homebrew MSX2 and ZX Spectrum 128 game "The Sword of IANNA," which is an excellent Prince of Persia-like cinematic platformer set in a universe reminiscent of Conan the Barbarian.
Anyway, I can't remember if you included this in one of your two previous Franchise Killers episode -- you probably did, honestly -- but if not, I recommend talking about the Jumping Flash series in a future episode, as it's really sad to see such a promising franchise end with something as blah as Pocket MuuMuu.
Might also be worth looking into the Clock Tower series, though you could technically say that that franchise lives on through NightCry.
Oh, Gonzalez did the soundtrack to Lucky Luke, didn't he? It did seem unusually good for a random licensed game.
I'll have to check out Turok 2 now.
THE STREETS OF RAGE 3 SOUNDTRACK IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and so is the game, the best part in my opinion.)
Yay to experimental music!
bad taste kid smh
Love the secret characters in the game too
The noise it makes when u get a gem in the RKA reboot sounds like a Windows 98 error noise.
Love the skits at the end it's what makes gamesack my favourite CZcams channel
I guess you guys finally took my advice and discussed the Turok franchise in full detail. Kudos for you👏🙂.
This time, I'm quick!
Maybe a cover of retro-styled modern games please?
Great screenname.
SOR3 experimental soundtrack actually sounds pretty awesome
It's 2018 and Axel has grown a beard.
Samurai Shodown series is one of my favorites by SNK.I never played SS-SEN but i've heard how terrible it is.From what i understand sen wasn't even in house, snk just out sourced it.I just hope this new samurai shodown that snk is making will have tight game play.
Fighting force IS missed. Had a blast with the first one.
More proof to my theory that every game, no matter how bad, is someone's favorite game.
Perfect Dark Zero. Considering the only other games in the series were a gameboy prequel and a 360 remake, it was a sad end to what started with such an innovative N64 game.
Whoever did the subtitles.. GENIUS.
I always liked Streets Of Rage 1 more than the second one. I felt both the music and level designs were better. Anyone else with me on that opinion?
I know that there are at least a few who share your opinion.
I love SOR1 soundtrack more than 2. 2 has a little better gameplay but 1's mechanics are still solid and satisfying.
Same here, i was annoyed that they took out the Special Police attack in the Sequal and yeah i like the music better in the first one. I honestly get bored playing SOR2 nowadays
Streets of Rage 1 is the best when playing two player.
I've never enjoyed a retro game like that ever. Me and my cousin completed it countless of times.
As for single player, no doubt SOR2 beats 1 anyday.
As for the music, I like the soundtrack on all three of the games. They all had their charm.
Thanks for your opinions! I still love the second game a lot, but it's mostly a nostalgic feeling I get when I throw the first game into my console.
and the Samurai Showdown was a AWESOME game too I hope the new one will be just as good too
12:17 Finally! Someone who knows the difference between a "possum" and an "opossum"
I love the CC's you add to these videos, always some good little jokes in there
*I'm the Miracle Ball*
I am digging SoR 4's art style. But the proof will be in how it plays.
And sounds!
I’m happy to say that it’s actually very good! It feels like Streets of Rage, which was all-important.
I love how more than one of the series in your "Franchise Killer" video has had a sequel announced during the production of this video.
Thanks for another great video! You guys are exemplary in being true content creators. Relaxing, entertaining, and informative. Never change! ✌🏻
Streets of Rage 2 will always be my favorite, but at least the 3rd game had some unlockable characters and multiple endings. But the big issue for me was no Max to slap fools around with.
@Retro GP Play Bare Knuckle 3. It's much better than the US version.
Ah the ol' gritty SOR3 soundtrack. I'm in the minority that actually loves it. When you factor the original Japanese story, the soundtrack is very appropriate. A freaking nuclear bomb just went off, you just disarmed one, but there's several more out there and you don't know where they are. Lots of panic and uncertainty. But yes, always play BK3 over SOR3 unless you crave a ridiculous challenge.
SOR3 has amazing OST.
Your not in the minority. SOR 3 soundtrack has been highly praised over the years. Ignore that part of the video.
I just got done playing with all 3 again and I gotta disagree with game sack completely. I actually really liked the soundtrack in #3. The music fit very well for the game and I felt the gameplay was more solid than the previous 2. I really enjoy #2 as well. I' have to give it to #2 for best music out of the trilogy, but #3 is not nearly as bad as they are making the music out to be.
Damn it ! I waited to the end to see that no Alex Kidd is scheduled even after the production of this episode ;)
That Rocket Knight retrospective was very informative! I didn't even know they released Sparkster on the SNES.
"Please watch the entire video before commenting." ... lol ... i hate comments where you can tell they didn't even watch 2 minutes worth.... Also, this ep could have been just EA, the king of franchise killing
Was wondering if you would cover the announcement of Streets of Rage 4, was not dissapointed.
Edit: Turok 1 & 2 were good but the comics was always much better. Also, I miss the Bloody Roar series.
I randomly just picked up all the 90s Turok comics and have been having a blast rereading them.
@@ianstewart8420 The series was very well written and drawn.
Thank you game sack
Ahhh nice...congrats for passing 200k subs...good to see ur channel striving
*thriving
thx
The Sleep killers - Game Sack Edition
I find it to be the opposite since their voices lull Me to sleep.
Yeah baby! Time for some delicious breakfast and relaxing with Gamesack, love my life xD
Finally have power and internet so I can sit down and enjoy the new Game Sack episode. Hurricane Florence did a number on us down here in North Carolina.
Ecco The Dolphin's dreamcast game Defender of the Future? I think it was.
Like Rocket Knight it was more of a failed attempt to bring it back - the series had been dormant for years at that point already. And I remember Defender of the Future being good and well-received.
Game Theory: BC Racers *is* a franchise and the next installment was Wipeout
Whatever happened to Chuck Rock anyway? Was BC Racers a franchise killer?
Dammit, why couldnt you Talk about Fzero? Then we maybe could've Had a new Game announced by now.
Did... F-Zero GX or Climax kill the series? I feel like it's similar to how Metroid got dormant for a while before coming back...
@MrJechgo
F-ZERO GX actually got very high review scores. NGC October 2003 (UK magazine) gave it 93%! Sadly the sales of the game compared to Mario Kart: Double Dash were low, which is a shame as SEGA did a fantastic job.
F-ZERO GP Legend on the other hand got very low scores and sold poorly. It's not a bad entry to the series and I like how they took GX's features but used the SNES/MV mode 7 racing. They were just very ambition saying there were 30 racers were really they were only 4.
F-ZERO Climax is pretty much improves on F-ZERO GP Legend. The Survival Mode (more like doing Missions) and course editor were fantastic editions. The sales were very low and the fact the NDS was soon to eb released, no one really cared.
The lack of interest for the series and low sales will mean Shigeru Miyamoto won't care when Mario Kart can rack in easy money.
F-Zero GX for the GameCube was awesome. Never played the later handheld titles though, from what I've heard they seem pretty lackluster.
They covered it in the first Franchise Killers video. GP Legend was the stinker, if you're curious.
New Game Sack episode? YES!!!
“I would have driven a Ferrari”- ahh Dave, you’re the best
didn't know that a ps3 rocket knight game even existed... konami should have honestly advertised more in my opinion. I'm surprised that they also haven't even tried to revive bloody roar as well, seeing as how their is a discord server thats dedicated to it and it would give them a fighting game to compete with the fact that everyone's basically releasing a fighting game now. glad that samurai shodown and streets of rage are returning though
I'm not sure spending more on advertising for a lackluster downloadable follow-up to a franchise that few people remember would have been a good idea. It's a shame though, I really looked forward to that title until I actually got to play it. Rocket Knight Adventures was so great and is an essential Mega Drive title IMO.
Sleep? Or Game Sack?
As if thats EVEN a question!
You guys are downright legendary.
The Turok games happened because Acclaim had acquired Valiant Comics, who had licensed Turok (and a few other Gold Key characters) to be part of their superhero universe
AD Racers Hahahaha xD Awesome Dave!
Man I love the timing of this episode as both Streets of Rage and Samurai Shodown got new entries coming XD. The perils of batch episode producing I guess haha but regardless great episode guys and I reckon the revived franchises episode would go down well
Hey bruv fancy seeing you here. Yes, Streets of Rage 4 and new Samurai Shodown is going to be hype!
Did Greendog kill the Greendog franchise?
Have you always written such hilarious closed captions? I’ve never seen them before today.
I’ll have them on for future videos for sure!
Add the newest Samurai Shodown to the list of redeemed franchises.
Pretty sure the textures on the N64 has way more to do with ram, not cartridge size. Nintendo really screwed the N64 by making it cheaper. The og specs for the N64 would have given the DC a run for its money, except for more advanced features like lighting
Well, the memory expansion pack games do look pretty great.
@@DeathToJihad exactly. All that cool sgi hardware it was based off of is cool as hell
I was gonna chime in and say "Nonono, SoR3 wasn't the bad SoR game, Fighting Force was". You nailed it though. Thanks.
Never noticed before but when you put on the captions, the first title says (Sweet Game Sack theme music) noicce!!
Final Fight. ROCKS.
