  • Quick video of two different two mic setups using a matched pair of Samson C02 microphones. These sound really good for the price and I will be experimenting with these mics more in the future
    Thanks for watching!

    Where is your overhead exactly positioned in this video? Is it centered over any specific drum head or does it have any angle to it? I just bought these mics based off of this performance and another video. Thanks! You sound and the mics sound awesome!

      Mic is pointing straight down about 4ft above the snare drum batter head. Mic is in the centre of the kit pointed right down towards where the beaters hit the kick drum head.
      Your best bet with mics is always to experiment and try new things though. Every room is different so you might find that you want the mic higher or lower or maybe a little more toward the floor tom or something. Experiment and have fun these mics are great.

    wait: Is this the sound of JUST these two mics?

    • @JimPauls
      @JimPauls  Před 10 měsíci

      Yes it is. When it says unmixed on screen that means it is just the two mics raw into the interface and when it says mixed it's still just the two mics but with some Eq, compression, etc.
      What do you think of the sound?

      @@JimPauls To me, it sounds like a drum with all the mics, i mean the close ones. This is absolutely mind blowing. I guess i am doing something really wrong in my mixes, because I use 10 mics and the sound sucks lol

      @@bulletsandpencils Try recording with two mics and see how it sounds. But first make sure that 1. your playing sounds good and 2. that your drums and cymbals sound good. Then just mix it in mono. If you can get it sounding good with two mics then adding in more should be no problem

      @@JimPauls Did you do any band separation during the mix?
