A wise man once said:
“You got to know when to hold em
Know when to fold em
Know when to walk away
Know when to run
You never count your money
When you’re sittin at the table
There’ll be time enough for counting
When the dealing’s done”

That sounds like something a wise man would say lol 😆
i think the “poker news” intro has the same audio as the reality kings intro

It does lmaooo
It's a royalty free sound which means that content creators can use it without having to worry about any copyright strikes. Though the fact that the chanting sound is very similar to the one used in the song Uranium by Kraftwerk (which has also been used in a bunch of songs by other artists, most notably Blue Monday by New Order) does make me wonder if the sound itself is in breach of copyright.
Lmao we going to hell

I remember my babysitters teaching me to play when I was like 10 and we’d sit and play cards all the time. I can’t remember how to play anymore but it’s a fun memory 💜
I am sure I’ve seen other videos explain this but for some reason, I completely get it now!
Thanks Lyn, I've got a poker game tonight with mates and I haven't played it for 30 years! It was 5 card stud back then.
I only learned poker from red dead redemption and now I needed to learn more to play PokerStars VR and this was sooo helpful
I learned everything from red dead
Dude I'm also learning for PokerStars vr. Lost my first 3 sit n' go games.
I'm learning it for red Dead Redemption
I learned it from far cry 3.

Thank you, this video help a lot and I had a lot of fun playing it with my family I lost by going all out with a 8 hearts and 8 of spares and lost to my dad this video help me get far in the game
Glad it helped! We have a NEW one coming soon....
Congratulation for your sense of pedagogy. The course is sequential and systematic. You are great !
I haven’t played in a few years, so this was super helpful, thank you!
This was the best explanation of small/big blinds I’ve found on YT
Having the dealer Judys rotate allows for an even spread of positions at the table.
This is the best video on "Poker Texas Hold'em".❤❤❤
This is really helpful thx 🙏
This is the most informative video I've found! Thanks so much! I'm new to poker and trying to understand heads up holdem so 2 player. So I've started using red dead redemption on xbox as a training aid 😅 but I'm confused... I understand in heads up The small blind is posted by the dealer and big blind by the other player. Then the dealer opens the betting but... I have no idea why the opening bet option is $5cents I.e. equal to small blind instead of the big blind. I also get confused by the switching of turns I.e. big blind leading post flop and also use of checking and which player is leading. Can you please provide some information on how to play heads up so I can play against a friend!
Excellent job 👏
This helped a lot
Really great video
Very good nice presentation
This takes a lot of practice no doubt..
Wow, after this video I can can confidently say I am still confused as all get out!
You have to play and play some more! That's the only way YOU'LL ever get it! ... I could never understand it either when it was explained 😆
There's a whole section that was left out....what hands are available in poker and how they rank.
I'm in Vegas now and saw $15 minimum Texas Hold Em game and needed a refresher.
Hey girl thanks for video ❤
very helpful
I’m about to go to Vegas and play Texas Hold’em this weekend. I is usually play only online but this will be my first time in person.
Well, how did it go? Was it harder than online?
Lynn Gilmartin was born on 1984. She grew up in Austalia. She hosts poker events on TV. She is married to Mexican poker star Angel Guillen.
Well done
is how you like your steak
I was saying at a home game two days ago that if you watch an older poker episode like when Raymer or Moneymaker wins, the show would always tell you the basic rules to NL Hold 'em. However if you watch a new one now like poker after dark, they do not and its up to you to learn the game. This video may get some views for newbs learning to play.
I’m novice to the highest degree and based off this video I have more understanding of the rules, betting, rounds etc. but what I didn’t get is how do the cards in a player’s hands correlate to the flop cards? So if the cards in my hand are a jack of hearts and a three of clubs I’ve no idea if that’s a good hand or bad, and idk how such cards would correlate to the flop cards.
Thank god she told me the dealer shuffles the cards I thought the guy next to me was gonna get my cards next round
El Cortez casino in downtown Vegas is the best place to learn
Maybe Poker just isn't your game. I KNOW LETS HAVE A SPELLING CONTEST !
One question: after the first round of betting, what should be the minimum bet of the first player in the new round? Like the game minimum or do you have to take the previous round into account? Guess the first one...
4:37
Usually double the amount of your initial ante. At least that’s how it works where I play. So if you bet $10 and then decide to bet on flop, your bet has to be double. So $20
It depends if u in a casino minimum let say the table is $10 minumum u can’t bet less then $10 has to be $10 or more Unless someone’s raise ur bet like $15 so for u will b $5 more 👍 & so on
I believe that you have to meet the big blind's bet or higher so if the big blind bet 10...you already threw in 5 so you have to throw in 5 more for the minimum.
I love Lynn
yeah but how do you win. do my cards have to match the ones on the table orrr?
Poker bunny taught me how to play Texas holdem
Regarding the raise rule where it must be at least double the amount of the big blind, is this only during pre-flop first round of betting or does that apply to every round of betting?
Raises must be in increments of the big blind throughout the hand.
Hahaha @chris good one
Idk but there’s just something ironic about an aussie teaching people how to play Texas hold ‘em
Why?
Why is it ironic?

I discovered a great collection of videos that may help on Card Crusher Fixer
Does that mean that the round of betting is reopened?
She looks like Cheryl from curb your enthusiasm
Played poker for years, but enjoyed just watching her explaining the game…😍
Glad you enjoyed! 🙂
Clear as mud!
I agree, I'm not knocking the explanation, it's just that there's a lot to follow. I have to watch this video over and over again just to get it.
Very well presentation. Very elagant and professional. Might want to slow down a bit, just little tip to enthise the viewer and enable easier learning from this production.
Right , I didn’t learn anything ima just watch a different one that explains things better
if she's too quick it might be because you're slow
I'm god and I approve of this message
So if I have quite a bit less money than other people, and they keep raising, it basically blocks me out of the game? Unless I go all in?
Basically, yes. You either have to call (equivalent)or raise (minimum plus what you want to raise it to) the bet.
I am watching this just so I can play poker on RDR
Uuuuum you didn't say anything about what the types of hands are that win?
What if players keep raising the bet? It will not stop until it settled or have same bets for everybody ? .
If the bet keeps going up, you evaluate your hand and make an
educated guess if you have a possibility of winning, otherwise you fold so as not to lose so much. If you have a good hand, you go “all in” - you don’t have to match the raised amount. But if you go all in and lose, you are out of the game.
Red dead redemption brought me here 😂
Real
Same here. The safest way to gamble! If you lose, you can always load a previous game and your balance will be restored.
😂😂😂😂😂😂❤
If a game is not self dealt, such as casino or tournaments, does the dealer button still rotate after each hand?
Yes. So whoever is dealing knows where to start their round of handing out cards
better than standard poker
Great vid, just a quick question. If the big blind is 1000$, is the minimum raise: "call" 1000$ and then actuall raise 2000$ or call 1000$ and then raise 1000$?
Mam choi la
Supposing the BB is $2; and the next player decides to raise - the minimum raise is $4 - but decides to raise to $5, the next legal raise is to $8 as the difference between the BB and raise bet is $3. People often mistake raising with doubling the existing bet; the raise has a structure.
Well the second video has a Brit teaching u so I might as well have a hot redhead aussie teach me lol
I have now clue how to play poker though.
What happens if the last person in the round of betting raises?
Goes around again
Lynn, please visit my home game and refresh us on the rules. We have been playing for 9 years every Thursday night and need help! You can be all time dealer.
Say I have 9 of clubs 7 of clubs 4 of clubs 3 of clubs 2 of clubs is this also a flush?
Can anyone answer some of my newbie questions please? I do not want to go to a casino and make a fool of myself.
1) must the blinds increase with time? Can I just standardise the blinds when I play cash games with my friends eg: blinds are always 10/$20. No changes throughout the game.
2) Player A (small blind) places $10 and player B (big blind) places $20. I’m next so if I want to raise, must I raise double of player B’s amount to $40 or I can raise to any amount eg: $21 , $29, $35 or any odd numbers?
3) Is it compulsory to have an Ante? How much should Ante be?
4) Who can check? After one round of betting where everyone “agrees” to placing a bet/raise you started?
5) Why are some blinds $10/25 and not 10/20 which is double?
Thank you
1)if your not playing at a casino, then play however you want, although if you are, it depends how everyone else is playing
2) you can raise it to any amount the you are able to bid.
3) i think antes only happen if there arent going to be blinds, antes make sure that you are wanting to play that round and blinds are somewhat similar because you have to put in money or fold.
4) after everyone puts an ante in, or the 2 people do the blinds and everyone else puts in the minimum amount or more, the next round, you can start to check. Anyone can check but if someone before you puts in money, your only options are to fold, pay that amount, or raise.
5) i don’t know
Im not the best explainer but hopefully this helps!
@@anna-pt2eu Thank you very much for your reply. I guess I have to go try it out and start from the $1/2 tables. :)

A bit unclear but overall a good video.
What specifically was unclear? We are planning to produce updated content like this.
@@pokernewsdotcom Well my casino poker dealer friend is also teaching me so he clarified the 3 questions but one of them was: does the call size minimum change once a player raises it or does it stay the same amount from what the big blind originally bid?
what happens if you don't have enough chips to call?

I didn't learn anything here. She's too beautiful. I couldn't focus on what she was saying 😍
That's not a knife....
how can you make a hand with none of your cards? I'm confused
In the showdown you have two cards plus three cards from the five that are face up on the table.
Ignore Frame's reply. It is unhelpful. Let's say you hold Ace King. The 5 cards on the table are 6-7-8-9-10. You have a straight. The Ace King are not helping. Of course, EVERYONE has a straight, and if someone has a jack, they have a BETTER straight. If someone has Queen jack, they have the BEST straight (assuming no flush can be made.

Why fold if it means you lose any chance of winning your money back? Just stay it and hope you win?
Kakegurui made me come here
Literally zoned out halfway through. This wasn't easy or straightforward to understand at all!
LITERALLY
Even as a poker player and knowing how to play, she explained it incredibly fast for anyone to understand
Why would someone fold if they haven’t seen the first three cards?
Someone would fold if they were neither big blind or small blind and they had a really bad hand. Then you are able to fold with no loss
By playing the odds
Yep update: I’m dumb and hadn’t learned yet, thanks though guys
i managed to get here because someone made a doom mod that turns the game into a tactical shooter someone else then thought i should make a sub mod for this mod and made a mod that adds merchants you can play poker with (you can also play with other nearby players). this sub mod has this video as a link for folks who aren't to aware on how to play texas hold'em.
i still dont get it
What part don't you 'get?' There were a lot of 'it's in the video.

The elocution is not clear at around 4 min.
3:30 "the muck" why would a player give up without any community cards being placed yet??
If the strength of your hand depends on the community cards but they haven't been dealt yet so why would someone muck before that?
Sometimes they are on the verge of losing all their money so therefore they don’t take the risk
Assume a hand where you are 3 seats to the left of the dealer. This means you have not yet committed money to the pot, but you must make the first decision after the deal. You look at your cards and see 8 of spades and 2 of hearts. Can they win? Sure, occasionally. Do those cards give you favorable odds to win? Nope.
Fold for free without a second thought. Otherwise, you are taking a bad gamble and will lose more often than you win. They are simply not worth the money it costs to call.
In poker, you won't win every hand. Instead, try to maximize your odds of winning the hands you choose to play. That means choosing your starting cards carefully If you play every hand just hoping to get lucky, you are playing bingo not poker, and you will end up losing money in the long term.
