  • Review of aluminum tilt snowmobile trailer. The trailer is nicely low to ground due to torsion axles and because the deck is between the wheels rather than above. The latter is possible because this is a single-sled trailer.

    Post-video comment. When driving on an actually muddy dirt/gravel road (rather than just water spray on pavement), the splash guard is inadequate. It does protect the front of the machine, but the sides and even the seat get muddy. Part of this is spray directly from the truck, and part is ricochets off the fenders. To prevent this, the guards need to be approximately a foot wider. Another problem occurs when loading. The carbide ski runners dig into the softer aluminum of the back of the trailer. This causes the skis to "stick", and excessive momentum is needed to overcome it. This problem is solved by laying a piece of UHMW from the back edge of the trailer to the ground. Then the snowmobile slides up easily.
