  • Sailor 3rd Class Willow Rosemary Nelson - “I didn't think that I would pursue a future in the arts. Oddly enough, now that I've joined the military, I've done more fine arts than I had while going to school. It was a big surprise. It's funny how life works.” Watch her story.

    To the Royal Canadian Navy;
    Rather than waste over 69billion canadian dollars on Type 26 frigates that are most likely enter service in 2026 with the Royal Navy of UK first, pls kindly reason with my humble request of;
    1) Hand over the currently active 2 Harry De Wolf AOPV to the coastguard and arm the 6 under construction vessels and also upgrade their designs to Patrol Corvette standards.
    2) Give a contract to a local shipbuilding company e.g Halifax shipbuilders to construct 4 frigates based on the type 31 arrowhead frigate(the type 26 is beginning to look like a waste of time)
    3) Consult the Royal Navy if they are willing to sell two of their type 45 destroyers(The Royal Canadian Navy needs to go back to it's Glory days)
    4) Canada and Turkey are NATO members, pls work with Turkey in constructing the STM 500 submarines (It is a low cost, effective sub that will fit the needs of the Navy)
    Whenever I compare the Royal Canadian Navy to the Royal Australian Navy, I feel sorry and disappointed.
    So pls kindly give reason to my opinion
    Yours Faithfully
    A concerned person that aspires to join the Navy

      Hey man you should check out the book Killchain by Christian Brose! (He was John McCains Nat Sec advisor) In it he talks about the state of the Chinese navy to that of the USA and he brings up a lot of interesting points about the futures of naval warfare in the event of a war with china. I’ve been curious to hear what more people familiar with naval stuff think of what he has to say in the book.

      Yes. The Canadian navy is a mere shadow of its formal self. Especially our pathetic littoral fleet. Eight Orca vessels in Esquaimault pretending and yearning to be coast guard vessels.
      Not a single mounted machine gun!
      22 patrol vessels and only six 25 mil cannons. A handful of WW2 machine guns and four substandard submarines. Year 2014 they removed the twelve 40mm Bofors from these Kingston minesweepers yet replaced it with Nothing!!
      It's criminal the undergunned-zero missile coastal defence. 243 000 kms of coastline to patrol. No other maritime nation, can come close to our seashore distances. But fear not! We have 40 vice admirals & admirals steering desks.
