How do YOU feel about all these changes to the cards? Do you hold these setups? 👇
As someone who doesn't spend 50k a month, i feel deep down that amex hates me.😂
Huh
That's a ridiculous statement.
I definitely don't spend anywhere near that amount haha, why do you think you need that spend?
Bros thinking about the black card
Get both, then use AMEX points on flights, and Chase points on Hyatts.
Same here! What has been your best or favorite redemption so far?
The fact that sapphire reserve doesn’t give Hyatt status is almost criminal.
+1 to the Sapphire Reserve not being the best, although Hyatt status directly would pretty much be a first if it ever happens. If they ever do that, I wonder if that's then we'll also devalue their award chart further...
@@KevinYang it doesn’t have to give globalist. Maybe explorist would be enough.
How do I organize it, when it comes to inquiries?
I know Amex is a 1x hard pull (INquiry); then, you can get the other card. Idk about chase but I know they have a rule that you cant get more then 4 cards in 12 months. Your gonna have to talk to one of these credit guys to learn the 'play' as they call it.
Kevin, I used your advice to get the full Chase suite in the last 14 months (Flex, Sapphire Preferred, Unlimited, Amazon Prime, Ink Cash). To address the 5/24 rule, I am now past the anniversary of the Flex. Do I need to cancel it so I can apply for a new one (and new promotion) in 13 months or could I be approved for a new one while still holding one?
You don’t need to cancel
Like @NellyBlueee said, you don't need to cancel! The 5/24 is based on new card *openings*
@@KevinYang But if it goes dormant, won't CHASE eventually close it anyway? And I'm worried about unused cards floating around that could be fraud bait. What I really want is to get a new one + $200 bonus but am unsure how long I have to wait to reapply.
@@FirstLast-bn6nl Chase closing or not closing inactive accounts does not affect your 5/24 status. Remember 5/24 refers to having 5 new cards opened in the last 24 months! Once a card is past 24 months, it is no longer counted
I’m in the uk and recently just got the Amex gold card at the age of 20. Where do I unlock or activate the Uber cash and the other benefits. Or is it just a US thing.
Add the card to your Uber account and it automatically adds every month :)
@@montigo2063 interesting is there anything else I need to Apply for or add my card to receive benefits. There isn’t much information online how to receive these benefits
Like @monitgo2063 said, it's automatic given your card has the benefit. Unfortunately I'm not aware of the benefits on the UK version of the card
I will have to re evaluate my setup once my 5X back on Groceries and Gas with my Freedom Unlimited is up.
Right now it’s providing so much value
Yeah those are awesome categories. Though on the bright side, given they have no AF, they're keeper cards that will make sure you get that 1.5x base if needed!
I was under 5/24 when that offer was here :( if it comes back I’ll refer my wife and we’ll use it then
@@NellyBlueee AH the notorious 5/24!
Thanks for the video. I have both set ups even though I prefer the amex. I was very fortunate to get multiple platinum cards. When you were eligible to get signed up bonuses for each one. I now only have one Amex platinum and that is the morgan stanley one. I just don't see the benefit anymor to carry the chase sapphire reserve
The multiple Platinum cards was a great way for tons of points! And +1 on the CSR, it really, really needs a refresh... Are you able to use enough credits every year on your Plat?
@KevinYang I tried to use all the credits but I do leave some on the table. Airline credit, uber credit, FHR credit, entertainment credit, These credits are easy for me to use. I tried to use the coupons but most I have no need for
@@user-wh1ti5cl2c Which entertainment service do you use yours on? That's surprisingly one most people use but I don't haha. And what about the Saks credit, even for little things here and there
@KevinYang Disney plus I was using it on audible . I have to admit.I don't watch Disney plus much.I got it for the grandkids when they come over
Kevin, can you do a video on Amex's poor man's duo: Green & Blue Business Plus?
That's an interesting set up! Do you have it? But speaking of duo, have you looked at the Capital One Duo?
@KevinYang I have the Gold, Blue Business Plus, Blue Business Cash and Blue Cash Preferred. Thanks to Amex's recent policies, I can't get the SUB for the Green. As far as Capital One, I'm pre-approved for the Savor One, but not the Venture X. I won't make a move until I can get that one.
@@VinylCover1987 You could get the Amex Plat however! Are you unable to justify the annual fee via the credits available? And agreed with the Capital One side, although I'm not sure if many people are pre-approved for the VentureX, rather they're pre-approved for the Venture and take that as a signal to get the VentureX
I’m pre-approved for the Venture X & Quicksilver, but not for the Savor One or Venture/Venture One. C1 has weird criteria, I think their algorithm only wants users who will definitely pay interest.
Awesome, another trifecta video
Important enough with recent updates that it really deserves some attention!
@@KevinYang couldn’t disagree more. Trifecta is just a buzz word. Duo, quad pack, all the same stuff. Use the card that is best for the purchase or for where you need points and keep it moving. Plus every other credit card person on CZcams is doing the same video
@@IanMaschal Definitely see your point. Unfortunately it's the balance of sharing the knowledge vs. getting the algorithm to actually share it, so there's always a balance!
My partner and I both have chase trifecta. My good one rn is 10x groceries for 1 year freedom flex currently. Partner just got 175k amex plat. We both have CSP, chase flex and unlimited. Now he has amex plat. I think we are at card peace for a bit lol. Time to work forward 8k spend !
That's a solid setup! Love the Chase cards + Amex Plat combo. Any upcoming trips with all those points?
@@KevinYang Japan May 2025 :)
Amex Green, Amex Everyday Preferred, Amex Platinum, Amex BBP. ✊🏆
Loyal Amex member! Have you considered venturing into the Chase ecosystem?
rumors chase sapphire having an elevated bonus soon?
Been hearing that! Wonder how high it'll be.. 80k? 100k?
The fact that Chase uses visa is huge factor of why I stayed within the ecosystem. My Gold card in Namibia, South Africa and Portugal was a real pain considering I tend to eat out every time I travel. I’m staying with the Chase trifecta but to each its own
That's a great data point! It's always good to diversify across a couple just in case. That said, I always thought Amex was hard to use abroad, but I was surprised even in the smallest towns in Malaysia they took Amex!
@KevinYang bro im crying here in london. We literally have have no good options. Even your no annual fee cards beat out whatever we have😂😂😂
@@precociousdeathdealer202 I feel you. Being from Canada, cards outside of the US in general are nowhere close in the rewards and benefits they provide
I hear you, but for me, even the trifectas don't really do it. SUBs just lead to so many more points it's barely worth optimizing for multipliers
That's completely true! For those of us with more interest in this space, that's a much better ROI (what're your favorite cards for SUBs?), but for those who want more simplicity, getting a solid setup is still good!
What's the risk of not being approved for a new CSR? That's the only thing that is holding me back from product changing and applying for a new CSR for the SUB. I've had the CSR for 7 years, haven't gotten any other Chase SUBs, and have opened a new BILT a year ago. 790 score.
@@laughter95 I don't believe there is a risk, other than not having a Chase Sapphire card for the time being. If you don't get approved, you technically didn't get the card/bonus, so you can always try again or go through the reconsideration route!
@@KevinYang thanks. Have you had any issues getting approved on your new applications?
@@laughter95 I've only had 1 denial for a Chase Ink card, that's all
Canadian channels should give ideas that are easy for every Canadians. Always Chase.... not everybody here can get an American card. you need American address and more
Given I'm living in the states, the videos here are primarily catered towards the US!
@KevinYang I thought you were in Vancouver. But you're not the only one. thanks
@@schenier Originally from Vancouver, but living in the States!
14:52 $695 ANNUAL FEE !!!
Yup! Definitely high, but could be worth it if you get more value from it than you pay!
@@KevinYang I got it, btw I was referring to the typo the text shown on screen is $659 ANNUAL FEE!
American express sucks! I would not apply unless it is free!
Which credit cards do you currently use?
@@KevinYang chase cards and Venture x and CavorOne
I love American Express
Only Amex plat is worth having. And has to be evaluated every year. And Chase Tri, is just super underwhelming (and redundant)👎
+1 on the Amex Plat, have had it for over 5 years and loving it. Which cards would you replace with the Chase Trifecta?
@@KevinYang I’ll take cap1 duo over chase Trifecta and easily. Or just USBAR by itself. lol ✌️
@@newagain9964 Cap1 Duo is pretty good, although I know a LOT of people like Chase w/ Hyatt haha
@@KevinYang I don’t want to juggle cards. Redundant cards at that.
