What I found interesting was that with the Whole Foods app, if you (1) add your Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card information, (2) set it as your default payment method, and (3) (at the register / checkout) pay with the credit card you have on your account, your Chase Sapphire card will consider that as an “online grocery store” transaction eligible for 3x Membership Rewards points
I think the value for chase card is not correct. Shouldn't be 2k?
I get around 600,000 plus miles a year on cvx... gotta use my miles..
You forgot to mention that CO allows only 2 cards. Sorry buddy, but too long about obvious things, I thought I will learn something new, but didn't.
I have 3 cards, VX, Savor one and quicksilver. 2 card max is not true.
I currently have 5 active Capital One credit cards.
Wrong. I have 3 cards. Stop spreading misinformation
The 2 card limit is only for subprime borrowers I think.
So let me get this straight, if I get approved for the savorone and spend $200 at the grocery store , that'll be 20k points to transfer to the Vx ?
How did you come up with 20k point
@1:32 he says $1 = 100 miles, so doesn't that mean $200 is 20k miles?
@@hc2777 thats $1 cash back you earned converting to 100 miles at 1cpp, not 1 dollar spent. $200 spend at grocery would be 600 miles at 3% cash back
No. You'll get 200x3 =600 points.
@@hc2777 $1 cash back = 100 point $200 grocery spending at 3% = $6 cash back or 600 point
best miles are - AA - Alaska - Aeroplan
I cashed out all of mine using the travel eraser feature at 1 cpp
It's a great feature! Have you considered using the miles in other ways?
Bro, how you earning that many miles?
Probably sign up bonuses and referrals from being a CC CZcamsr
@@BuiltNutritionFitness Always thankful for the support, and yes referrals do factor in here to a degree! That said the VX is my main card for general spend, sometimes with taxes, so that probably contributes as well
How do you feel about Capital One rewards? Have you had any redemption highlights or lowlights? 👇
Love Capital One Miles, it turns out they transfer and redeem just as well as Ultimate Rewards points!
@@LukesPointsandMiles In a lot of use cases yes! Though I've heard it's harder to get value for mainly domestic travel. Thanks for the support Luke!
Since all major cards CAN transfer to each airline alliance. How do you guys value one transferrable currency over another??
My partner and I both have chase trifecta. My good one rn is 10x groceries for 1 year freedom flex currently. Partner just got 175k amex plat. We both have CSP, chase flex and unlimited. Now he has amex plat. I think we are at card peace for a bit lol. Time to work forward 8k spend !
That's a solid setup! Love the Chase cards + Amex Plat combo. Any upcoming trips with all those points?
@@KevinYang Japan May 2025 :)
As a points newbie, I have a question. I book most travel through booking sites like Expedia and Agoda. Would I still get the bonus/multiplied points if I use this card? Additionally, can the card recognize the difference between buying a plane ticket on Travelocity versus booking a hotel on Travelocity and multiply the points accordingly?
My citi costco card have a $120 annual fee.
I feel there’s no real reason to add this card to the Autograph/Active Cash Duo for the AF, let alone replace the Autograph all together in a setup. The positives: It ups Hotels and Flights from 3x to 5x and 4x respectively. And double the cell phone coverage from 600 to 1000 The Negatives: No 3x gas, transit, streaming, phone. Worse 3x Travel conditions It’s better way better than the CSP imo but WF generosity in giving all the same benefits to the Autograph hurts this card. The CSP is only valuable because it’s basically a redemption card. Maybe the Autograph Beyond will have the missing grocery multiplier and a point redemption multiplier along with TSAPre/Global/Entry/Clear. If the beyond is strong, this card being semi weak works in their favor to make the easy call to go for the expensive Beyond. Praying for better partners too. TLDR: Wells Fargo with the crazy potential rn
Yeah the overlapping benefits does cannibalize it a bit. And totally agree, it'll be interesting to see how WF continues to make changes to their lineup!
I am visiting SEA soon. Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan! Do you know if most places accept Visa? Or do they have apps that you can use like a mobile wallet? Thanks!
When visiting all those places, if they took card, I don't recall any location that *didn't* take Visa! Sometimes it's cash only, but if there's card, Visa is included from my experience. Mobile wallet existed in a lot of place, but I'd recommend still having the cards on you just in case!
That was a huge gap (2017-2021) between the 2 chase cards!
Yeah the Freedom Flex was wayy overdue! I think that was a period where I kind of took a break with credit cards given I just started working full-time!
Love these type of videos Kevin! I personally am more in the boat of not paying a dime in travel costs but have definitely redeemed for some aspirational hotels/flights like on my Honeymoon as well. Like you, I really value Aeroplan as a partner and frequently use them to book Star Alliance Flights (especially with both of us being in SEA)! Great video Kevin!
So useful especially for us being in the PNW! Honestly I don't know much about some popular redemptions via SW or AA domestic flights, being so focused on the west coast haha
YES!!!! KING 👑
Thanks for stopping by!
I have a new development for you to consider! Costco Citi card just sent my mom some mail about a 5% back in "statement credits" up to $25 on eligible bill payments until 7/31/2024, which sounds really similar to the Citi custom cash card. I know you're not a citi card fan, but I think it sounds like Costco is trying to try out the benefits program of the Citi custom cash card on their customers, at least for Q2 to motivate people to spend about $500 on summer purchases and festivities. Since it said in the fine print at the bottom of the mail, we already get 4% back on gas, she is going to talk to the person at the Costco help desk to clarify the seasonal offer.
what does it mean by adding a stopover for +5K? Like you can say you wanna pay 5k points to stop in, for ex, Autralia?
There are some special rules (e.g. the new routing can't be like 2x+ of the direct route), but the idea is right. Add 5000 points to add an extra city as a stopover!
9:47
300K wtf? why would anyone do that?
Hi Kevin! What’s the Website you use in 12:07?
seats.aero/ !
How often do you redeem your points or use your credit card benefits for travel? Do you go for aspirational trips, or ensuring you don't pay a dime in travel costs? Would love to hear your experiences! 👇
Citi is top tier
What's been your experience with them?
Citi literally the best cards for cash advances! King in my opinion if you know how to use it I e had zero interest for like 6-8 years
11:26 “saving money is just money waiting to be spent.”
Right now I have 1 chase sapphire card and I am wanting to fly to Europe and am looking for a credit card to get me points to be able to fly to Europe for free. I have a side business and was thinking of getting the ink business card but it only gives $750 in points for the sign on bonus. What do you recommend I do?
I feel it’s important to know that it’s pretty difficult to get approved for a US bank credit card and hence a lot of people don’t consider it. I was never rejected while applying for any of my 7 cards in the past from the big lenders probably because my score has always hovered around 800 but that changed when I tried to get a US bank card.
Most of the Citi bank cards are Mastercard and that is very useful to use on Plastiq.
Hey Kevin, I had a question. What is the purpose of using the Citi Custom Cash for only one specific category rather than multiple categories? I've been hearing about this card that the Custom Cash should only be used for category. Why is that? What would happen if you use it for multiple categories? Thanks for responses!
It's because you only get the elevated 5% back on your TOP spend category for the month, with everything else earning just 1%. That means to maximize the rewards, you should just spend on 1 category, putting everything else on something like the Double Cash for 2%
Citi"s fraud early warning system is total trash, along with their customer service. I got the SUB for a new card but not worth the hassle with FEWS & Pinoy offshore CSR/fraud dept that speak mediocre English. I will downgrade the card in in year two to a no fee card, and just sockdrawer it.
Did you have a lot of travel having the charges taken off for fraud?
@@KevinYang Nah, I just stayed at a local hotel in the vicinity of my residence and triggered the FEWS after swiping the card. Had I read all the BS stories on reddit about about unlocking your card through snail mail, I would not of applied in the first place.
@@jun.oshimayou could use chat instead of phone calling to their fraud department?

I would just rather keep my Citi Premier instead of getting that new card I got a special bonus I don’t have to pay the annual fee for my first year and get annual back when book a trip also them at next year you should get the SavorOne
Nice savings on the annual fee! I wonder if the new card will prevent people with the old card from qualifying for the welcome bonus...
@@KevinYang I just saw on my app Citi already switch me over to the New Citi Strata Premier card so I suppose they switching everybody then
@@QueenConsious Yeah sounds like that's the case. Thanks for the datapoint!
Citi is definitely trash, but after traveling around the world for years I can say chase is also really bad, Amex platinum is a ridiculous coupon book, but the gold card is great imo. Amex value really only shines when transferring points to airlines, which is often the cheaper parts of trips anyway. Of course Amex also has the best customer service out of anyone by far. The problem with both Chase and especially Amex is I have points sitting in my account for such a long time before I can actually find a transfer partner worth it to use my points on. The point I'm making is, after all the years I've been traveling I've never received so much value like I have with capital one. The price drop protection and price matching alone accounted for more value than all my cards combined. I know they get heat about their transfer partners, but they're actually decent. Aeroplan is who I used to transfer to most of the time from Amex, and now I get that same value through Capital One. The best transfer partner I've seen from Amex is probably Qatar. Regarding your comment about American airlines, I'm surprised you never fly them because to be honest they probably have the highest redemption value out of any airline I've ever seen (all classes). Look up any flight from the US going to Asia and you'll see that American airlines frequently has the highest cents per point value. Lastly, I will say that unlike you I don't necessarily care about flying business/first class or staying in overpriced hotels like Hilton or Hyatt. For me, get me there comfortably and let me stay in a decent place and explore the place I am visiting. I frequently find lesser known hotels ~1/5 the price of the big ones like Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriott and I usually end up enjoying the trip even more than the times I stayed at the big hotels. I'm traveling to see the place I'm at, not to sit in my hotel 😁. As long as it's a nice place, good location, and of course clean, I'm good. After all I'm there to see the place I flew to.
I have no CiTi cards and not planning on getting one. Happy with other 15 better cards in my wallet.
What's your favorite few cards in your setup now?
@@KevinYang VX, CSP and Amex Platinum and Chase Business Cards
@@KevinYang Also Chase Business Cards
I have 6 citi cards: Custom Cash, Double Cash, Citi Premier, Costco, AA business & citi rewards. Wife has a Custom cash too so w/ player 2 setup I will use one for gas and one for groceries for 5%. I have had excellent customer service w/ Citi they were the only credit card company who would give me a credit card when my credit score was low back in 2017. They take care of you when you have any issues and they have good travel partners
How do I organize it, when it comes to inquiries?
i don't consider Citi credit cards as travel cards for the exact reasons you provided
Makes a lot of sense why you haven't gotten a Citi card yet. I only have the Double Cash, which I got years ago when I was only focused on no annual fee cashback cards. Though I'll likely get either the new Strata Premier (primarily for the 75k bonus) or wait for the potential release of the Strata Elite. Great video Kevin!
Yeah the 75k bonus will be a nice tough, but for now the perks on the card don't seem to have changed much... Same here looking forward to hearing more about the Strata Elite
Been using the Citi QuaFecta and is great. The best earning setup in the game. For protections, I use the Platinum or CSP. Getting 120k-140k in intro offers won’t hurt either 😂 Chase setup feels outdated when compared to all other available options today. I have Chase cards for the bonuses, they rarely get any use.
Citi is the worst credit card company on the planet.
Have you had some poor experiences with them?
@@KevinYang Yes sir. Very poor customer service and when you pay your bill, they take forever and a day to post it paid. Most card companies update your available credit limit right away. Citi takes weeks. They are pathetic.
I disagree. CITI is solid, and they update my balance literally seconds after I make a payment.
@@alexmuskie1 How can you judge what my experience is?
Mmm, no one’s judging dude, it’s called an opinion.

I also have no Citi cards, but part of the reason is the horrible stuff I've heard about the bank itself and general website interface. Good video!
What have you heard?
@@KevinYang oh, just bad stuff in general about how the website is difficult to navigate, etc. Nothing that is a dealbreaker.
@@PingPingTravelI've used Citi Credit Cards for most of my purchases for almost a decade.... so... "Shrugs"... I haven't quite had any bad experiences...
@@MikeC-dj4iu Good to know. I'm considering the Citi Strata Premier card also so your experience is helpful for me.
I also don't have Citi cards, and that's because the top of their travel card is trash. I'm a travel over cash back, and the Citi primer is stank. If they had a competitive top-tier card, the Citi trifecta would be unbeatable, especially because of the Double and custom cash.
Exactly my thought process as well! Let's hope the new Citi Strata cards will be a breath of fresh air...
I don't travel much so doesn't concern me. You just can't please everybody
Two citi cards with a venture x or amex platinum is a nice trifecta. Not all in the same ecosystem but it works
Great setup. Which two would you be going for?
I have the Citi Premier, Citi Shell MC Gas card, Citi Mobil Gas card, Citi Home Depot, Citi Meijer MC card!
I got both of the AA elite and AA biz cards last month, and got the second bonus today, I also don’t fly American but am excited for booking their partners.
Yeah that's the one factor that's keep those cards on the radar for me too. What're your fav redemptions with them?
@@KevinYang JAL biz at 75k would be ideal. Was seeing a lot more availability a few months ago not so much today.
@@IanMaschal JAL would be nice, especially if you can get their new A350s!
@@KevinYang the 1000 is defiantly on the bingo card.
I watched Rsquared travel yesterday on his Citi “penta-fecta” with 3 custom cash. My thoughts from his video: 1) It is a lot of work to get 5 Citi cards 2) Custom cash is capped at $500, which is too little for me. Gas is the only category that might work. 3) Citi is definitely not a “travel” issuer. Lack of transfer partners and perks with their cards. Their portal is mehh too. 4) Too many luxury cards out there that have comparable multipliers and way better benefits despite the steeper annual fee Good video because I probably won’t think about Citi until next year.
I transfer Citi TY to Singapore to Europe (IAH-MAN) and Avianca for flights throughout South and Central America.
The SQ fifth freedom flights are nice! How has your experience been with Avianca?
I just got a venture x and love it, but seriously thinking about citi ecosystem just for Eva. I am going to be going to Taiwan from Houston multiple times over the next several years, and 15 hours in Eva business class sounds very tempting
EVA & Starlux are both really great Taiwan airlines🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
@@fogrunr5075 Still gotta try Starlux!
EVA is great, and it's a great (more niche) way to get to Asia with still good value
