When you realize: This song and learning to play it on the piano was a way for Rooster to connect with his Dad Goose as this was a pleasant memory for him. 😢 😞 I recognized that when I watched it. Child trauma is real.
Yes it is! Did you ever go to The Windsock at Lindberg before it closed? It's in the movie to where Mav is at the bar and Charlie walks in Airliners can be seeing on the tarmac in the background.
here too, there's the scene that maverick sees rooster playing piano and singing, he was remembered with goose singing that song together from 40 years ago, rooster was 4 years old that before.
The little cowboy there then went to shilling out arms during the war in Iraq with a selfish partner that screwed him over before following his father's footsteps. Maverick was a 10/10
This scene is so family and friendly. I get the vibe on this song, it makes you smile 🙃. It is so important in the 2 movies because it's one of the only father-son ties that exist, obviously with Airplanes. Can you tell me if my english is good ? Because I am not english, I'm french. Thank you 🤍
You definitely have to use some suspension of disbelief about Rooster's age in Top Gun Maverick. He has to be at least 3 when sitting on top of the piano, so by the time of TGM he's got to be pushing 40.
And his applications to join the Navy got declined several times too which pushed him back by many years Could've been a Veteran pilot way more than Hangman and the rest too had he joined earlier But it's a good thing he found some buddies with them
It's actually not too much of a stretch especially considering Miles Teller the actor who plays rooster is 35. Also the new cast aren't new recruits they're all Top Gun graduates so they probably would all realistically be in their 30s.
@@projectileenthusiast1784 perhaps. I'm not super familiar with ranks in the Navy and maybe they should have ranked all the recruits up more but I do find their ages to be believable considering the fact that they were looking for experienced Pilots and the best of the best.
This sequel was shot among year 2018-2019, and originally planned to release at cinema on year 2020, before covid pandemic. In this case there should be just 32 years gaps (2018-1986) between the two movies. And rooster should be aged 32+3=35. Maybe this is make more sense to u?

I get why Glen Powell was almost cast as Rooster. He looks like the kid version of Rooster The kid morphs from a blue eyed blond to a brown eyed brunette?
You’re entitled to you’re entitled to your own opinion even if you seem to have Covid at the moment (careful a symptom is having no taste). He and goose are practically brothers and Carol treat him like a brother, she’s comfortable with him and vise versa, it’s supposed to show they’ve been friends for years. Maverick doesn’t have any romantic feelings for her, he’s only got eyes for Charlie.
I deliberately avoided this movie when it came out 37 years ago, got talked into finally watching it the other day, what a ridiculous waste of time that was. The plot is intolerable, just absolutely terrible and stupid. Puke.
This scene hits you more after seeing Maverick. Like father like son.
It really hurt to see how Maverick reacted to this song
I cried on that scene, it was a callback
Fax
I love top gun Maverick
Fr Fr I cried
When you see the scene where the character is shown to be a great dad, great friend, and a great husband, you know he's gonna bite it soon afterwards.
Lol
Hits even more hard with this new movie, hope you enjoyed it
Yep good people go to heaven
That's why his name is Goose...
Goose really had it made: Hot wife, perfect kid, great friend. He really had it all.
he’s got his father’s piloting skills, piano playing, and mustache
Goose would be so proud of him
His father was never a pilot

He would have been to young to have memories at that age
@@_baller did I write this??
I'm guessing this is after seeing it, and that was before
When they did a flashback for Top Gun: Maverick it was heartbreaking to watch. Felt too real. 😭
Why that flashback is my favorite scene- turn a really good fun scene in the first movie into something heartbreaking in the second.
If you told me that in the sequel, the kid sitting on that piano would become a significant, well written character. I would laugh, but here we are…
One of my favourite scenes in maverick was the recreation of this
And the beach scene. 🏖️😍
I went to this bar, its in San Diego. Very cool if you are a Top Gun fan
its called kansas city BBQ, only reason I know is I grew up in San Diego

Thumbs up if you were introduced to this song through this movie.
I’m so happy my parents loved music
Do I get a thumbs up if it was through Maverick?
I wish I could say so, but I’d be lying lol 😞
Not to mention Jerry Lee Lewis is the last Rock singer from the 50s who's still alive
I was introduced to this song by my parents thanks to this movie👍
So many people asking...
Yes, that little boy is Rooster!!!
