This is in the top 1% of movies. Well-executed and an absolute glorious tribute to the original movie. I grew up on Top Gun, played the original NES game and everything. I watched this in theaters with my kids and jumped up hooting and hollering when Hangman saved Maverick. I really thought it was over for them until he showed up.
@@merchandisingisanart after they figured out that Maverick and Rooster were on their way back in the F-14 they gave Hangman permission to go. Remember they were on an aircraft carrier, they shooter and catapult crews are not going to launch him off the deck against the orders of a 3-star admiral. And the pilot cannot launch himself off, so they had to have given him permission.
I was a bit upset with the Hangman role in the movie till this scene because he was so talented as we see in the movie even though he hadn't got the justice to his capabilities but this scene completely turned the table, incredible movie.❤
You could make the movie from Hangman's perspective, and it's about him realizing that they're all on the same team, and that Rooster's devotion to his teammates isn't a weakness, it's actually what makes him a great man and a great aviator. Similar but not identical to what Mav learned in the original.
The original script was actually pretty different. They had Hangman be a total douche the whole way through until Glen Powell said he didn't like that for his character and said he would walk until they changed the ending to give him a more redeeming end
I am a woman and yes, she felt like a real life woman not a man which was a nice change. I am proud to be a woman and I don't want to be like men but that doesn't mean I can't do things men so.
This is one of the best sequels I've ever seen. It was just so spot on. It was funny and sad and angry and loving; all at the same time. Could easily watch again and again.
The only thing I can think of in the entire film I didn’t like was the music track that got played when they were playing volleyball on the beach. Compared to the music in the volleyball beach scene in the first Top Gun it was rubbish.
To be honest I thought the new characters were going to ruin the movie and Tom would be just there but they really incorporated the new characters in with Tom’s character very well it didn’t ruin anything.
Anyone who doesn't love this movie doesn't like movies! It has everything and a happy ending. Are there cliches, yes, but who cares? It is a masterpiece in simple storytelling and it executes all it tries to accomplish flawlessly. This is a 10 out 10! Nothing has come close to this in decades!

I get choked up watching this every single time. It’s nice to see everyone set aside their differences and bury the hatchet. The exchange between Hangman and Rooster was awesome. Likewise, with Hangman and Phoenix hugging it out. I lost my dad just days before watching this so Rooster does me in with “it’s what my dad would’ve done”. And that score, just amazing. 😭
I am Iranian and I know what I want to say, you may have heard from other Iranians, but Americans cannot imagine how much we young Iranians love America. And also how much we love American fighter jets, especially the F-14, which has been serving in the Iranian Air Force for 50 years. It doesn't matter how old the F14 is because it is a relic of the good old days. The past that my peers did not see! Hoping that one day my country will be saved from the hands of dictator mullahs so that we can buy American fighter jets again to defend Iran's skies against Russia and China. We need hundreds of new fighter jets!
It says a lot about the F-14 that you guys still use them. And it says a lot about the talent of your mechanics that they're still in flying shape despite no spare parts in nearly half a century. It would be cool if our countries can someday be friends again.

I live in Toronto and our biggest theme park has a top gun roller coaster. I've been riding that bad boy every year since 95, now my kids ride it with me, unfortunately it's called flight deck now 😂 look up a ride along video it's an awesome coaster
Practical effects should be the MEAT, CGI should be the SEASONING. You can never have too much meat, but you can DEFINITELY have too much seasoning. 🥩🧂
The reaction was the best part. He was happy two men were coming home against all odds after being briefly presumed dead, but you could tell he was ready to chew someone's ass, too. "God damn it, Maverick, don't spoil a good moment by pissing me off!"

I cried so hard when Mav brought Rooster home 😢 never was a fan of the original. This movie came out around the time i had lost my dad, so i was completely heartbroken. Two of my best friends took me to see it & i cried my eyes out from the moment Hangman saved them till Mav & Rooster hugging it out. Beautiful movie ❤❤❤
Our kids will never understand the feelings we get when watching this, the music, the nods to top gun. Didnt appreciate it first watch, but 2nd watch, everything clicked. Lovely movie.

I loved Top Gun and this was everything I ever dreamed a sequel would be. Say what you want about the filmmakers, or Tom Cruise, but this was 2022 film of the year no doubt. Fucking inspiring as an aspiring filmmaker.

As a child of the eighties, some things just hit different. When Maverick does his fly by (a perfectly timed nostalgically amped throw back) and that familiar music starts playing... goosebumps bro
For those of you not familiar (and unless this policy has changed), backseaters in dual-seat fighters like the Tomcat would get credit for the kills made as well. So, by the end of this movie, poetically, Rooster ended the movie with three kills to his credit (the helicopter he shot down himself and the two Su-57s Mav shot down), the same number of kills that Maverick ended the first movie with.
Just found out my daughter has a crush on Rooster. We went to see this movie for Fathers Day for my husband. For her mom who loved Tom Cruise as Maverick the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree
This is one of those classic movies that I can watch again every few months and have the same gauntlet of adrenaline, feels in the love story, and nostalgia in scenes like this...top 25 movie of all time in my book!

Hondo NOW knows of all the stories he's heard and tribulations of the great MAVERICK.... You know his happy gaze while he and Mav held each other say's it all. you know he's now a believer. Excellent.
This last fight over the ocean was deep because the water looks so calm but Maverick and Rooster are desperately trying to survive right above it with nothing left to defend themselves with.
The great music makes this scene very special. There are some variations in this Sound which you can hear in Top Gun 1 - Perfect mixed!! Like someone said it before, there is everything to find in this scene..I think now mav can let him go. Harold Faltermayer made it near to heaven!
I really liked that they showed that no matter how great and experienced a pilot you are if you’ve run out of ammunition and you’re not as fast as the other guy you’re screwed. Even maverick needed saving.

That little eye shift Cruise does after the Dad line is master acting at its finest.
It was the right choice to keep the best fighter on deck to respond to any heavy lifting need. And Hagman was one of the best fighters :)

I really liked that they showed that no matter how great and experienced a pilot you are if you’ve run out of ammunition and you’re not as fast as the other guy you’re screwed. Even maverick needed saving.
